the blues train - queenscliff

Victoria’s historic coastal town of Queenscliff is home to the world’s one and only Blues Train. It is a unique experience that combines four of Australia’s best live blues acts and the beautiful scenery of the Bellarine Peninsula on the Drysdale railway line while aboard a real moving vintage steam train. It is one of Australia’s most spectacular entertainment experiences. The Blues Train leaves Queenscliff Railway Station after guests have enjoyed a delicious meal complemented by fine Australian and local wines. The steam train then makes its way along 16 kilometres of track, gently rocking from side to side, seemingly in beat with the music. It’s a music festival in one night and a progressive party you’ll never forget. Suggested by: Desiree.

The blues train is the ultimate experience: yummy food, fantastic music, and the best company you’ll find in Victoria. Not only did the musicians and kitchen staff live up to all the hype I had heard but all the staff on the train, including Hugo himself, ensured that my mates and I had a great time… I’m addicted. The blues train has now become my home away from home.

From the time you arrive to the time you leave the Blues Train is an extraordinary experience. The atmosphere is party party party!
Even if you don’t think you like Blues music - you will change your mind! The acts are of the highest calibre, full of passion and enthusiasm and certainly know how to gain audience participation. They were dancing in the aisles on the seats and in the carriage!
There is a meal included before you leave Queenscliffe, and plenty to drink form the Bar carriage - just right to get you into the party mood!

This most unique experience is the brainchild of Hugo who is a larger than life Host and knows how to gwt the party going!

If I were to give this points out of 10 - it would be 101 points! Victoria- THE place to be!!!!!

I would have to say that The Blues Train is one of the funnest things I have done. Apart from the gentle swaying of the train itself and the great scenery, the way you can get a bunch of musicians, a crowd and a whole lot of dancing in a train carriage is a wonder to behold!
I will go back every year!

The Blues Train is sooooooo much fun, would recommend it to anyone at any age. Something unique about rocking along the Bellarine Railway bobbing away to Blue Music. The atmosphere is purely one of fun. Swapping carriages gives you the opportuntiy to see all those performing in an intimate atmosphere that just makes you want to come back for more. A must do in my books.

Since accidentally coming across the Blues train on holiday many years ago and now living in Victoria I make sure all my friends from the UK take the trip when they come over. It is such a great experience - great food, atmosphere, scenery and music - all everyone could wish for in Autralian Hospitality.

I think the Blues Train is a unique experience. To get to the station you travel through some of Victoria’s most beautiful countryside. Then, you experience food, wine, good local blues musicians on a heritage train. The journey the train takes is a visual treat. The whole thing is also good value. What more could you ask of a good day out?

We have world class blues musicians in Australia and the Blues Train showcases many of them, which is great for the punters and great for the artists. It is a unique “venue”, has been running for a long time and we all know that it is harder and harder for musicians to get gigs and for punters to see great music.

The blues train was fun! it’s an experience…something you just don’t do everyday, which makes it even more enjoyable. Some would walk away from it and say hey, that was really good…others , just want to go back for more.
We are going back for more, because we want to have another taste of that experience.
The food was great, the music good for the soul, the train ride a bit of fun and the ambience fantastic.

I highly recommend it, whether you are travelling as a group, a couple or by yourself. The Blues Train combines the best of tourism, it supports blues music, historical significance, fantastic views, friendly staff and is easy to access. Having traveled overseas often and been to some of the best music venues in the world, the Blues Train equals those.

10 out of 10. We were a group of 12 from Bendigo, and all agreed that it was the best fun we have had at such an event. The organisation was fantastic with so many people being served, fed etc. The meal was great, music was fabulous and all the staff friendly. We danced, sang and drank to our hearts’ content. Have recommended it to everyone.

After a few drinks and a meal at Queenscliffe Station the train gently rolls off to begin the journey. The ocean views at the start of the trip are magic, and the fantastic music is backed up by the clickety- clack of the train.
The views change from dusk to night.
Every one on the carriage seems to be of one mind. To have fun.
Lookingt forward to the next trip

Although I have never travelled the Blues Train my son is a regular performer and tells me of the wonderful people he meets. It is a unique Blues /music venue for people who never knew what `Blues’ was about and a unique tourist attraction.

Went on the train with ticket purchased by kids for christmas, great gift, food was good, we were lucky & ended up in the dance carriage, what a terrific way to enjoy the blues. (The only thing that was a bit iffy was the toilet facilities, they could be vastly improved, ok for the blokes). Good company and great music

I have been on the Blues Train at least five times over the past few years - and had the BEST time each and every time! How could you not enjoy this charming and fun journey? From the finest Blues Musicians (my favourite Jimi Hocking!), a great concept (four carriages, four bands), yummy food and plenty to drink if you choose (most people find they enjoy a glass or two by the end of the ride!!), and all organised with flare and fun (what more could you expect from the Fabulous Hugo T. Armstrong!!). It is the sort of night where people of all ages and music taste have fun - I have yet to hear anyone say at the end of the night that they didn’t have a great time. So go on - go on the fabulous Blues Train and have the night of your life!!
