Bright is undoubtably the most gorgeous 4 season destination in Victoria. From snow clad mountains, clear blue skies, incredible autumn colours, to an array of spring flowers, and a delightful summer, there are always things to do and see in this special town.

Bright is one of the best places to visit in summer, with the jawdropping mountain ranges, the green leaves, the quaint little small town, heartwarming meals and friendly people….simply an unforgettable experience and you would want to come back again and again…. :)

Bright is a magical place and somewhere you can’t help but feel at home. It has a unique charm of its own and it doesn’t matter what time of the year you visit, the gardens and trees are magnificent in their colour. Coming from an area where the rivers are mostly only stagnant pools, it is always so exciting coming down from the mountains to see the lovely Ovens River bubbling along over the rocks.

Bright is a breath of fresh air, nestled in the hills close to skifields and wineries, with plenty to do, good eateries and great scenery, mingled with the yesterday charm of old gold fields, railways, and tobacco kilns.

Just love the place, it is just gorgeous. For all the ‘prim lovers’ out there, Bright has this fabulous shop called ‘Country Heart & Home’ and now with their ’sister shop’ (quilting and scrapbooking) - just fabulous. We come up from Geelong and stay overnight just to pay a visit, it is worth the trip.

I love this place so much. We have been going to the area for many years for holidays. My brothers and sister and I learn’t to ski at Mt.Buffalo, and our parents now live in this wonderful place. I visit as often as possible, and would visit more if I could.

I first discovered Bright through Paragliding. And from many varied flights over and around the area - I discovered all the hidden gems on offer. A wonderful community of rural families, a fantastic town full of vibrant people of all ages; great music, vineyards, pubs, fabulous eateries - are you getting my drift?! And of course a great place for kids of all ages! Come and enjoy !

After holidaying here 12 years ago I am now a proud member of the Bright community and a owner of a local business. On Sunday my family & I enjoyed a trip to Mt.Buffalo for some tobboganing, a picnic and an adventure walk through the snow - all for only $10.00 entry fee!! Wether swimming in the Ovens or Buckland River in summer, finding all the great water holes, visiting the snowfields or strolling through the colour explosion of Autumn leaves there is something for everyone. Great restaurants, cafes and shops (especially the butcher shop). Look forward to seeing you all here.

We love visiting Bright to expore the river walk, stop off for a beer at Bright Brewery, celebrate a special event at Simones, play in the water in summer, watch the children parade in the autumn festival and hear the RAAF band. It’s an all year round experience.

Fifteen years ago I was first drawn to the area for it’s paragliding & hangliding. These days, Bright’s attraction is equally about catching up with locals (now friends), and sharing Brights many fabulous experiences with my family.

It’s amazing in that for all the years I’ve been holidaying in Bright, I still get to enjoy new experiences. Most recently - eating farm gate raspberries from the Freeburgh Berry Farm. We purchased a tub to take home. We didn’t even make it to Bright before we had to turn around and buy another tub. Yum!

Bright is a must on the 26th & 27th July. It’s Christmas in July at one of Bright’s most gorgeous shops, “Country Heart & Home”. Feast your eyes on the newest Christmas collectables and decorations for 2008. Free raffles, specials, gluhwein & roasted chestnuts all through the weekend. The highlight being Christmas Dinner on Saturday Night with all the trimmings and a visit from the big guy himself - SANTA. They have even promised “SNOW” at their shop for the weekend. A definite must see to believe and only 3 1/2 short hours drive from Melbourne.

Nearing the middle of winter and here we are in beautiful sunshine, not a cloud in the sky, enjoying a delicious cappucino, listening to the bubbling Ovens River, savouring the fresh gum leaves and watching the busy birdlife. Look further and there is snow covering the majestic Mt Feathertop and eveyone’s favourite family mountain - Mt Buffalo. A true wonderland for all of our senses and our soul.
This is just a snapshot view of the many wonderful moments in a beautiful place called Bright and the surrounding North East.

Bright is one of the few places that can be enjoyed all year round and which truly experiences the four seasons of the year. It is so well known for its wonderful array of colours during autumn, but is equally as charming in winter, when it turns into the perfect place to enjoy long walks and curling up in front of the fire. Accommodation abounds - my favourite is Highland Valley because the hosts are so gracious.

Bright is a lovely town to visit. There is a mountain of accommodation to choose from. However, the best on offer in my opinion is Bright Mystic Valley Holiday Units and Catherines Cottage. Bright has a lot to offer the tourist, especially in the winter when you can visit a variety of ski resorts and either stay for the day or a week or more. The Autuum Festival is also a grand family event where you can enjoy real country atmosphere and soak up all Bright has to offer. Whenever I can I escape to Bright to feel refreshed and relaxed.

A favourite time of mine in Autumn is to have a coffee at the Humble Stud in Bright mid afternoon and watch the the red sparkling leaves of the Pin Oak tree at the old church in the main street. As the autumn wind blows the colourful leaves fall . It is truly an Autumn wonderland up here!. Bright is the centre of the magicial valleys including Wandiligong, Harrietville, Mt Beauty and Mytrleford. Restaurants and wineries to boast!. Clear blue skies and stary nights.A place that is good for the soul.! Leave city stress behind and enjoy the magiclal treasure of North East Victoria.

A perfect family destination any time of year, but especially in Autumn! The spectacular scenery in every direction is ideal for short family drives and ‘off the track’ adventures. Since visiting Bright a few years ago, it has become one of our favourite holiday places. We travel there from Sydney a couple of times a year and every season brings something different. The town is friendly and welcoming. It’s the perfect place to bring our 2 young children as there are lots of things we can do as a family.

Bright is not only beautiful in Autumn, but the whole year round. For many years we had frequent caravan holidays in this beautiful part of North East Victoria, and eventually retired to Bright. In summer the grandchildren love to swim in the Ovens river and use the water slide, in winter they toboggan on Mt. Buffalo, in Autumn they enjoy the Gala Day parade and everyone enjoys the gardens in both Autumn and Spring. Truly a place to holiday any time of the year.

Bright is a lovely town to stay in all year round, there is many things to do and sights to see I especially enjoy bright in winter time so that we can head up to Mt Hotham and Falls Creek for some skiing and snowboarding. The towns folk are very nice and extremely helpful when planning trips and things to do. I recommend Bright to everyone as every now and then you need to get away from the big smoke and enjoy a little relaxation.

Our family have lived & worked in Bright for the past 20 years. We have a thriving family furnishings business. Tourism is our major industry here and our life-blood. The Autumn Festival continues to flourish & expand, and each year brings in 000’s of tourists from all over Victoria & interstate. This is a unique part of Victoria, during Autumn the colours are a sight to behold. Green pastures, golden & red leaves - all before a backdrop of the beautiful Mnt. Buffalo, magestic Feathertop & Mnt. Hotham. Each year we welcome back families who have returned again & again, and also give a warm welcome to the visitors new. Bright - a town for all seasons, a unique town to visit, a wonderful place to live.

I am writing to you from Canada, the the heart of the Canadian rockies (Kamloops-City -home of the Rockies Mountaineer Train)..I spend 3 months of every year here…32 of my Kamloops Canadian friends have visited Bright over the years, the last 10 as recently February 2007-2008. They have found Bright to have similarities to this majestic well known Rockies tourist area and often compare the scenery, gardens,Fall foliage or Spring flowers as being a hidden treasure of Australian scenery - that is not well known to international visitors. All have been complimentary of the hospitality, friendliness, well run resturants and good food, wineries, they have ridden the bike trails with me and hiked the valleys.

The fact that I live in the Bright area and share my time between these two very scenic spots…and am able to share it with so many of my friends….is for me always a pleasure to sing the praises..of the area….I choose to make my perment home near Bright…when I could have equally have choosen the Canadian Rockies…should be an endorsement that I am convinced that we live in the “best” kept secret of Australian Tourism.

I have a list of of friends that have visited me from UK/Wales/Canada etc..that would be happy to endorse this email if requested all of them have toured the area. One Canadian couple will be coming back next year for their 4th visit.

Having worked in Tourism & Marketing both in Canada,USA & Australia - Bright is not well known outside of Australia and I for one would be delighted for Tourism Australia to lift the image of the High Country and promote and distribute funding of other lifestyles that reflect the interior of our States . There is more to OZ than the beaches that I continually see on Canadian & US media & marketing avenues.

Bright is a wonderful four season town, no wonder it was voted 5th Most Popular place in Australia on Getaway a few years ago. Folks coming to this area find new activities to do each visit. Excellent restaurants - lots of wineries; coffee shops ; walks; tours; the maze at Wandilagong; gold history; trout /alpaca/deer and emu farms; horse riding; microflights; helicopter and scenic joy flights - etc., and so close to 3 mountains for skiing in winter -
