cape woolamai walk, phillip island

My favourite place in Victoria is a secluded seat in the middle of a lonely piece of bush on Cape Woolamai, Phillip Island. It is a 30 minute walk from the surf beach car-park along the beach, up some stairs and along the middle of the cape. A longer 2 hour return walk can take you around the cape to the highest poing before coming down to my favourite spot and then heading to the safe beach coming out at an old granite quarry before making your way along this beach to the walking track across the dune to the surf beach car-park. I’ve encountered baby seal pups and penguins, Wedge Tailed eagles and huge winged hawks, wallabies and the odd black snake sun baking on the track. The sound of the surf, the veiws to cape Shank and Cape Liptrap, the view of the Phillip Island bridge and Wonthaggi Wind turbines are all a highlight of this solitary wilderness area.
