Historically situated in Ballarat the Ballarat Fine Art Gallery houses the original Eureka flag in all its glory. The story of the Eureka Rebellion itself back in 1854 demonstrates the beginning of democracy. Whilst in the area why not visit other historical sites like the Eureka Stockade or Sovereign Hill and the Gold museum? All within a short distance from each other. If you are a lover of history and want to explore the Gold Rush region, start at any of the place mentioned, feel the warmth, touch the gold.

They are a human scale and full of local history
Ballarat Fine Art Gallery
A regional gallery that punches well above its weight - the Ballarat gallery has a stunning collection and shows it off really well. The building is as impressive as the artworks inside - a purpose built art gallery which has evolved over time so that artworks are shown in spaces appropriate to their era. The temporary exhibition program is great - always changing and stimulating - and then there’s the Eureak Flag as well
The Ballarat Fine Art Gallery is the oldest regional art gallery in Australia and since it opened in 1890 it has continued to acquire Australian Art and therefore has one of the most comprehensive collections of Australian art in the country. It is situated in one of the best preserved Victorian era streets and always has wonderful temporary exhibitions to see.
There’s always something different to enjoy at Australia’s largest and oldest regional art gallery, located in the heart of the city’s Arts and Heritage precinct. There’s a busy program of visiting exhibitions, concerts and talks, as well as the display of the Gallery’s stunning collection of Australian art and the original Eureka Flag.
this is a must see breathtaking
I could not believe my eyes. I was truly amazed
I voted for a three star rating but it only gave two stars. The painters and sculptors are quite sensational, especially at Shed 47 gallery.
