There is so much to see and do in the Grampians. The shops at Stoney Creek in Halls Gap - a must to buy an ice cream from the corner shop. look at McKenzie falls during summer - beautiful walk. Visit Brambruk Aboriginal Culture Centre - just wonderful. Spectacular scenery and natural beauty that is in the Grampians!!
Many years since our visit but loved the quietness and solitude that the grampians offer.

The Grampians has everything you need for a family holiday. Wonderful bushwalking, waterfalls and rock pools to cool down in summer.
The Grampians look truly magic in sunshine and in rain, a wonderful place
to relax and go back to nature.

I’ve lived in the Grampians my whole life and yet it still amazes me everytime i see it. I went out to the Grampians Adventure Golf quite hesitant since i disliked golf but it turned out to be one of the funniest nights i have had with my friends. Trying to manouver the ball through the various waterfalls, slopes and mini-mountains proved to be an interesting feat of skill but not only that the course was beautiful. A REAL Adventure Golf course!!!

We went up to halls gap for the weekend and stayed at cathedral heights which was wonderful with wildlife in our backyard and great accomododation with a woodheater ,spa ,full kitchen facilities and plenty of bedding. When we arrived on the friday we were greeted by 30 odd wild cockatoos at our back door looking for a feed as well as rosellas and magpies.
We had dinner at the Kookaburra Restaurant and we highly recomended the dining experience and food there.
The adventure golf park is by far the best mini golf experience you will see and a must for not just kids but adults also.

Saturday morning we met up with Steve from the Asses Ears 4WD Tours and let me tell ya , it was the highlight of the weekend with Steve showing us what the Grampians is all about!
Steve took us to the most amazing places that the tourists dont get to ,going off road and doing some short walks where the views are absolutely incredible followed by checking out some wildlife ,driving thru water and the whole 4 hours telling us about the history of the founders and local indigenous tribes in the area. Steve has a wealth of knowlege about the rich history ,fauna and flora with 27 years in the area ,is excellent with the kids and hosts one hell of a tour that can be whatever you want it to be because he takes you to see whatever you choose! This guy is the perfect host for all types and makes you his friend rather than just another tourist. Steve is more than happy to pick you up from your nearest town and return you there. He gives you a bite to eat and you may get an espresso off him somewhere around the region! This tour is a bargain at about 60 bucks per head and we would easily pay double for one of the best experiences weve ever had!

We made three visits to the Grampions over a period of 25 years, and ech time it was a refreshingly new and very impressive experience. Twice we took visitors from Europe with us, who also marvelled at the sheer beauty and vast feeling of the area, despite having grown up in equally impressive - but different - mountains in Europe.

I suggest you go to the Wartook Valley on the sunny side of the Grampians. It is wildlife corridor with kangaroos, emus, deer, echidnas to be seen. Plenty of caravan parks and B & B accommodation as well as 5 star. Very close to Zumstiens, McKenzie Falls, Hollow Mountain, Mt Difficult, Mt Zerro Olive Grove as well as Laharum Olives. There is a beautiful Artist Studio and Restaurant (The Wander Inn) built of mud brick and timber from the Geelong Wool Sheds. Plenty of walks and wildflowers to see so if you love the unspoilt things then this is truely the place to visit. Wartook is only half and hour from Halls Gap and Horsham and 40 minutes from Stawell it is central to all the activities in the Grampians.

It doesn’t matter if it’s 3 degrees, an ice cream in the home made waffle cones from the Halls Gap store is required, complete with a go on the old fashioned clowns whose laughter ring out like some scary luna park stall from the 60’s. As a child my Gran would take us to play and stay in the Grampians in the CWA cottage. There were long summer days playing in the creek and picking wild berries. In the late afternoon there was always the trip to the store for an ice cream. Mine was always licorice. Now my children choose all manner of ice cream delights and we share stories of the legacies of holidays in this majestic, spiritual place. We stare in wonder as the cockys screach over head, their cries ringing out in the natural ampitheatre at the rear of the Brambuk Centre. We walk, we climb, we wonder and we return, year after year, after year, in the heat, in the cold……………….What a treasure we have.

So much to see and do in the Grampians. Visit the shops at Stoney Creek in Halls Gap - you must buy an ice cream from the corner shop. Swim at McKenzie falls during summer - beautiful walk. Hike to Mt William, or if you’re feeling really brave, the Pinnacle. Visit Brambruk Aboriginal Culture Centre - just wonderful. Or simply relax and take in the spectacular scenery and natural beauty that is the Grampians!!

The Grampians is such a great holiday spot, there is such a rich and diverse heritage available to see. After the fires in 2006 there is so much opportunity to observe the ancient landscape responding to the natural event with the plants slowly renewing. There is a wide range of accommodation available, and always a perfect spot for a family picnic among natures own.

I spent 21 consecutive days hiking through the Grampians National Park and it was an experience different to anything I’ve ever done before. The park has many mountains within it, making it a big attraction for rockclimbers, however I’m not the sort of person that’s intrigued by lethal 200m falls from mountains, which is why I had come to the Grampians; to overcome my fear of heights.
In the three weeks that i was at the Grampians, I abseiled from three different rockfaces, rockclimbed seven of the rocky walls and hiked a mountain ironically known as “MOUNT DIFFICULT!!!!!!!” But by the end of the three weeks, I’d not only overcome my fear of heights, I’d grown to be really fond the place. The great views, spectacular waterfalls, friendly locals and REDICULOUSLY ENORMOUS kangaroos gave the Grampians an atmosphere of its own. I voted for the Grampians because its a place that depicts a true Australian environment within Victoria. And its the experience within this spectacular place that i’ll cherish for my life.

I live close by and have the privilege of walking in the Grampians in all seasons. There is such diversity of scenery, flora and terrain, the views are breathtaking an I never tire of the feeling of being one with the bush.
    The mountain calls you back.

Watching the sun set from the summit of Mount William was such a special, and quite Australian experience. Not many places can offer such a colourful 360 degree view ! I was there about a year after the bushfires and it was very moving to see such vast areas of bush repairing and battling on after such hardship. The Grampians offer such a divers range of wonders right in out own backyard - i hope it will be appriciated by generations to come.

There is so much to see and do in the Grampians and because I only live 45 minutes away it is easy to head there for the weekend and either relax or enjoy the many various walks or go for a run. You can either stay in one of the many outstanding homes available for hire or experience the caravan park and pitch a tent or stay in one of their onsite cabins. It’s a great place to get away for all the hussle and bussle of everyday life.

The childrens faces just light up when the kangaroos come up so close to feed, even the deers who are not shy at all. Its a must for all the family, children and adults alike. I just love the Grampians or Geriwald and we visit regularly. The natural attractions, the fauna and flora, the Aboriginal caves and shelters. The majesty of the rocks. The fabulous tracks to explore. The views and horizons. The smell of fresh unpoluted air, and the quiet of the bush. Whether we camp or cabin. Nature is at its strongest here in the Grampians. Its a very spiritual and peaceful place, but it always surprises too!

The Grampians are a wonderful place to explore in all seasons. The rocks are eerily beautiful in the winter as the water runs off them and the power of the waterfalls is spectacular. In spring/summer the wildflowers are sensational. The scenery changes from season to season and eash trip to the Grampians you see and learn something new and unique about the environment.

The Grampians has a huge variety of well established tracks - short walks or long walks - suitable for all ages, providing safe, magic and tranquil bush experiences, re-discovering features like the ‘elephant hide’ and McKenzie Falls. Great achievable adventures, with Hall’s Gap providing a family-friendly ‘hub’ for resting before and after: campers and day-trippers a-like.

We had a wonderful family holiday in the Grampians a few years ago and were lucky enough to coincide with the food and wine festival at Hall’s Gap.

Our experience had something for everyone - adventure walks for the children where they sighted kangaroos, terrific food and wine for the adults, and a romantic evening toasting marshmallows in a warm wood fire.

Halls Gap has everything for a resting time or energetic time. There is definitely something in the air there, that makes you feel good. You can stroll around and just admire the wonders of the Australian bush, or you can put the effort in and do the walks. A short drive to Zumsteins to look at and feed the Kangaroos. Or go up to McKenzie Falls for a spectacular experience. Take your lunch and a few drinks with you and sit and admire the beautiful falls. No matter what time of year you go to Halls Gap it is always beautiful. October has the wild flowers display. I just love the place and try to visit it as much as I can. I never tire of it, as it is always inviting. And somehow manages to look a bit different each time you go. MAKE THE EFFORT TO GO, YOU WON’T BE DISAPPOINTED!!!!
