Bright is undoubtably the most gorgeous 4 season destination in Victoria. From snow clad mountains, clear blue skies, incredible autumn colours, to an array of spring flowers, and a delightful summer, there are always things to do and see in this special town.

Bright is a magical place and somewhere you can’t help but feel at home. It has a unique charm of its own and it doesn’t matter what time of the year you visit, the gardens and trees are magnificent in their colour. Coming from an area where the rivers are mostly only stagnant pools, it is always so exciting coming down from the mountains to see the lovely Ovens River bubbling along over the rocks.

Bright is a breath of fresh air, nestled in the hills close to skifields and wineries, with plenty to do, good eateries and great scenery, mingled with the yesterday charm of old gold fields, railways, and tobacco kilns.

Just love the place, it is just gorgeous. For all the ‘prim lovers’ out there, Bright has this fabulous shop called ‘Country Heart & Home’ and now with their ’sister shop’ (quilting and scrapbooking) - just fabulous. We come up from Geelong and stay overnight just to pay a visit, it is worth the trip.

After holidaying here 12 years ago I am now a proud member of the Bright community and a owner of a local business. On Sunday my family & I enjoyed a trip to Mt.Buffalo for some tobboganing, a picnic and an adventure walk through the snow - all for only $10.00 entry fee!! Wether swimming in the Ovens or Buckland River in summer, finding all the great water holes, visiting the snowfields or strolling through the colour explosion of Autumn leaves there is something for everyone. Great restaurants, cafes and shops (especially the butcher shop). Look forward to seeing you all here.

Fifteen years ago I was first drawn to the area for it’s paragliding & hangliding. These days, Bright’s attraction is equally about catching up with locals (now friends), and sharing Brights many fabulous experiences with my family.
It’s amazing in that for all the years I’ve been holidaying in Bright, I still get to enjoy new experiences. Most recently - eating farm gate raspberries from the Freeburgh Berry Farm. We purchased a tub to take home. We didn’t even make it to Bright before we had to turn around and buy another tub. Yum!

Bright is a must on the 26th & 27th July. It’s Christmas in July at one of Bright’s most gorgeous shops, “Country Heart & Home”. Feast your eyes on the newest Christmas collectables and decorations for 2008. Free raffles, specials, gluhwein & roasted chestnuts all through the weekend. The highlight being Christmas Dinner on Saturday Night with all the trimmings and a visit from the big guy himself - SANTA. They have even promised “SNOW” at their shop for the weekend. A definite must see to believe and only 3 1/2 short hours drive from Melbourne.

Nearing the middle of winter and here we are in beautiful sunshine, not a cloud in the sky, enjoying a delicious cappucino, listening to the bubbling Ovens River, savouring the fresh gum leaves and watching the busy birdlife. Look further and there is snow covering the majestic Mt Feathertop and eveyone’s favourite family mountain - Mt Buffalo. A true wonderland for all of our senses and our soul.
This is just a snapshot view of the many wonderful moments in a beautiful place called Bright and the surrounding North East.

Bright is one of the few places that can be enjoyed all year round and which truly experiences the four seasons of the year. It is so well known for its wonderful array of colours during autumn, but is equally as charming in winter, when it turns into the perfect place to enjoy long walks and curling up in front of the fire. Accommodation abounds - my favourite is Highland Valley because the hosts are so gracious.

Bright is a lovely town to visit. There is a mountain of accommodation to choose from. However, the best on offer in my opinion is Bright Mystic Valley Holiday Units and Catherines Cottage. Bright has a lot to offer the tourist, especially in the winter when you can visit a variety of ski resorts and either stay for the day or a week or more. The Autuum Festival is also a grand family event where you can enjoy real country atmosphere and soak up all Bright has to offer. Whenever I can I escape to Bright to feel refreshed and relaxed.

A favourite time of mine in Autumn is to have a coffee at the Humble Stud in Bright mid afternoon and watch the the red sparkling leaves of the Pin Oak tree at the old church in the main street. As the autumn wind blows the colourful leaves fall . It is truly an Autumn wonderland up here!. Bright is the centre of the magicial valleys including Wandiligong, Harrietville, Mt Beauty and Mytrleford. Restaurants and wineries to boast!. Clear blue skies and stary nights.A place that is good for the soul.! Leave city stress behind and enjoy the magiclal treasure of North East Victoria.

Bright is not only beautiful in Autumn, but the whole year round. For many years we had frequent caravan holidays in this beautiful part of North East Victoria, and eventually retired to Bright. In summer the grandchildren love to swim in the Ovens river and use the water slide, in winter they toboggan on Mt. Buffalo, in Autumn they enjoy the Gala Day parade and everyone enjoys the gardens in both Autumn and Spring. Truly a place to holiday any time of the year.

Bright is a lovely town to stay in all year round, there is many things to do and sights to see I especially enjoy bright in winter time so that we can head up to Mt Hotham and Falls Creek for some skiing and snowboarding. Our family have lived & worked in Bright for the past 20 years. We have a thriving family furnishings business. Tourism is our major industry here and our life-blood. The Autumn Festival continues to flourish & expand, and each year brings in 000’s of tourists from all over Victoria & interstate. This is a unique part of Victoria, during Autumn the colours are a sight to behold. Green pastures, golden & red leaves - all before a backdrop of the beautiful Mnt. Buffalo, magestic Feathertop & Mnt. Hotham. Each year we welcome back families who have returned again & again, and also give a warm welcome to the visitors new. Bright - a town for all seasons, a unique town to visit, a wonderful place to live.

I am writing to you from Canada, the the heart of the Canadian rockies (Kamloops-City -home of the Rockies Mountaineer Train)..I spend 3 months of every year here…32 of my Kamloops Canadian friends have visited Bright over the years, the last 10 as recently February 2007-2008. They have found Bright to have similarities to this majestic well known Rockies tourist area and often compare the scenery, gardens,Fall foliage or Spring flowers as being a hidden treasure of Australian scenery - that is not well known to international visitors. All have been complimentary of the hospitality, friendliness, well run resturants and good food, wineries, they have ridden the bike trails with me and hiked the valleys.
The fact that I live in the Bright area and share my time between these two very scenic spots…and am able to share it with so many of my friends….is for me always a pleasure to sing the praises..of the area….I choose to make my perment home near Bright…when I could have equally have choosen the Canadian Rockies…should be an endorsement that I am convinced that we live in the “best” kept secret of Australian Tourism.
I have a list of of friends that have visited me from UK/Wales/Canada etc..that would be happy to endorse this email if requested all of them have toured the area. One Canadian couple will be coming back next year for their 4th visit.
Having worked in Tourism & Marketing both in Canada,USA & Australia - Bright is not well known outside of Australia and I for one would be delighted for Tourism Australia to lift the image of the High Country and promote and distribute funding of other lifestyles that reflect the interior of our States . There is more to OZ than the beaches that I continually see on Canadian & US media & marketing avenues.

Bright is a wonderful four season town, no wonder it was voted 5th Most Popular place in Australia on Getaway a few years ago. Folks coming to this area find new activities to do each visit. Excellent restaurants - lots of wineries; coffee shops ; walks; tours; the maze at Wandilagong; gold history; trout /alpaca/deer and emu farms; horse riding; microflights; helicopter and scenic joy flights - etc., and so close to 3 mountains for skiing in winter -

Bright, - A destination with a point of difference. 4 wonderful seperate seasons. As a resident, I wake up every day, and wonder at how lucky I am to have discovered this beautiful town. It is a town where I always feel safe. It is a town where most people are happy most of the time. Once you arrive one does not want to leave. Bright in summer by the Ovens river, enjoying the free open air concerts in the park, leads into autumn, where the leaves rain from the trees after they showcase their amazing colour spectrum. Winter is just around the corner, the trees brazen in their starkness, and one has the opportunity to duck up to the snowfields, just under an hour away. As the days warm up spring emerges and all of the gardens put on a beautiful show of bulbs. Bright, a wonderful place to live and a wonderful place for a family holiday. Please enjoy!

Bright in Autumn is a spectacular vista of colours. However, it’s not just autumn, but spring summer and winter, all seasons are a joy to behold. For young and old there are activities that will cater for every interest, be they strenuous or relaxation focussed.

We live beside the Ovens River outside of Bright on the Mt Hotham side. Our many visitors when they first visit say they know why we live where we do and say how lucky we are!!
We look up to Mt Feathertop with its all year round magic and the passing parade of bird life, coupled with the majestic four seasons, makes this place a piece of paradise.
Bright is also a tourist paradise where the four seasons offer something for everyone. The summer with its huge influx of family visitors who invade the Ovens River, to the autumn where camera shots abound to be followed by the winter with snow calling yet another set of visitors. Spring annouces new life and another set of visitors.
Bright has been discovered by many who keep coming back. For others not so fortunate in knowing us, it is a place waiting to be discovered.

Bright anytime! In Spring, I have to say, is my favourite - the gardens and beautiful, the scenery superb as always. This town has everything, all year - and I note that some of the other contenders for “best place” are just up the road - the Great Alpine Road, Harrietville, Mt Buffalo and, of course the Audax Alpine Classic bike race is held in Bright. I live in Bright - for more reasons than I have room for here. It’s a friendly, vibrant, beautiful town with great food. Superlatives abound!

Bright is such a lovely destination in Winter. Yes, it is cold, but not much wind and so, not bitter. There is just so much you can do during the winter months you don’r feel the cold. Just Brilliant, the brewery is great (right next to a playground for the kids). Fresh air, beautiful views of the mountains, wonderful pub food and the river is just so peaceful and quiet. Being Autumn just makes it that extra beautiful and special!
We all come home from Bright feeling so much happier.

Bright in Autumn, in fact Bright at any time of year, offers something for everyone. Bright is a beautiful sleepy township offering spectacular scenery, great walks, a vast selection of tasty and quality cafes and restaurants and so many unique places to visit - 4-wheel driving, winter skiing, fishing, boating, climbing - the list goes on.

Autumn is synonymous with Bright - ride your bike from Bright Railway station along the Rail Trail and stop at the Berry Farm at Eurobin for a delicious berry surprise or the Ovens Pub for a great meal! Cool mornings are just right for a bike ride and you can relax in the cafes by the river in the afternoons! Dont forget RokSalt - the best fish & chips in the north-east…. our family has been visiting at least four times a year since 1992 and we have not yet tired of it….

Being a lover of nature, to me Bright is a great place to visit any time of the year, but more so in Autumn with the beautiful tree lined streets displaying their glorious colours, and the cool crisp mornings and fresh mountain air.
Bright the perfect place and time of the year to have a nice relaxing picnic at Centenary Park by the Ovens River, or to explore the nearby mountains and enjoy the scenery.

Autumn time in Bright is just magical, a great relaxing place.
Bright is undoubtably the most gorgeous 4 season destination in Victoria. From snow clad mountains, clear blue skies, incredible autumn colours, to an array of spring flowers, and a delightful summer, there are always things to do and see in this special town.
Bright is one of the best places to visit in summer, with the jawdropping mountain ranges, the green leaves, the quaint little small town, heartwarming meals and friendly people….simply an unforgettable experience and you would want to come back again and again….
Is magnificent in Autumn!
Bright is a sensational place to holiday for a weekend or a week. We visit in Autumn, Spring and Summer - and love it!
beautiful, beautiful bright - what more can I say but Inspiringly beautiful
Our family has been to many places throughout Australia, but Bright is one that we keep coming back to. The relaxed atmosphere and friendly environment is A+ We particularly feel welcome as a FAMILY at this destination
My Family and I love Bright we enjoy stays there at all times of the year with its definite seasons, great restaurants, great walking & riding tracks it has alot to offer for all ages.
Just a lovely spot in autum to go and relax and recharge those batteries, there are plenty of things to do nice places to eat at and lovely clean fresh air
I love this place so much. We have been going to the area for many years for holidays. My brothers and sister and I learn’t to ski at Mt.Buffalo, and our parents now live in this wonderful place. I visit as often as possible, and would visit more if I could.
I first discovered Bright through Paragliding. And from many varied flights over and around the area - I discovered all the hidden gems on offer. A wonderful community of rural families, a fantastic town full of vibrant people of all ages; great music, vineyards, pubs, fabulous eateries - are you getting my drift?! And of course a great place for kids of all ages! Come and enjoy !
I travel each year to do my Christmas shopping, the atmosphere is wonderful, the parking is easy and you always find that present that is a little bit different.
Bright is a great place to visit in summer or winter. Great restaurants and places to visit
Whether your are young or young at heart, a family, couple, or friends spending time together, Bright has something to offer everyone. You can take your pick , paraglide, bike ride, mountain climb, bush walk, stroll along the river, fish, swim, rock climb, shop shop shop & eat eat eat. Bright boasts unique shops & a variety of eateries from Fine Dining to Beer & a Counter Lunch.Bright is also a gateway to many other attractions such as the Snowfields, & surrounding townships. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.
Travel to North East Victoria and stay at Bright. and explore the shops and have lunch by the Ovens River. Do some fishing or gold panning. Visit Mount Buffalo and do some of the many walks. Visit Wandiligong an old gold mining hamlet and walk round the diggings. Travel to Harrietville and explore the area. Travel on up to Mount Hotham and on to Dinner Plain. There are many things to see and do in this area. Its God’s own country.
Discover Brights picturesque valley views, fine dining, enjoyable walking trails, ect. Nestled amongst Victoria’s top ski fields. Plenty of accomodation for any budget.
‘Bright’ & beautiful in any season and surrounds.
Just a place in another time that you can enjoy and relax at.
Bright is a beautiful town with great fishing, mountain bike riding, and 4WDing . Great access to the ski fields, and exceptional small town hospitality. And our favorite locally brewed beer.
We love visiting Bright to expore the river walk, stop off for a beer at Bright Brewery, celebrate a special event at Simones, play in the water in summer, watch the children parade in the autumn festival and hear the RAAF band. It’s an all year round experience.
Yum!
We used to visit Bright for the pleasure of skiing, mountain biking and enjoying the beautiful bush and great restaurants in town. Eventually we found we couldn’t tear oursleves away to go back home. We now live in Bright and operate Bright Brewery. We love life here! What could be better than living in your favourite place on the planet!
Bright is one of the most beautiful towns in Australia. You can visit Bright in every season and fall in love with the food and wine, driving routes and cycle paths. And the accommodation’s still affordable!
A must in auturm to see the changing tree colours.
Bright has such a wonderful variety of places to see, activities to do and food to sample, all within easy driving distance. It suits all ages and all tastes. The weather is usually great and it is so beautiful.
For pure peace and quiet & to witness the seasons
Beautiful Bright, perfect climate, magnificent scenery, majestic mountains, superb restaurants, glorious gardens, friendly people, excellent holiday accommodation, exhilarating adventure activities, tranquil river, peaceful bush walks, brilliant King Parrots, enticing cool climate wineries, brilliant Rail Trail, cool summers, spectacular spring, brilliant autumn, skiing winters, etc, etc, etc. Simply the best holiday destination ALL year round.
B Beautiful not only in Autumn
R Restful or recreational
I Idyllic for Photographers
G Great for family adventure holidays
H Haven for beautiful trees and lovely gardens
T Terrific trails for walkers and bikers
The miles and miles of blissful riverside walks
Bright has perfect weather, beautiful surrounds, lovely shops and relaxing and fun atmosphere. Perfect for holidaying in year round!
canyon walk in Bright
A beautiful easy walk, taking approximatley 1 hour, right in the centre of Bright. Beautiful scenery, peaceful and relaxing, chill out and just sit on one of the many spots along the river, meander back at your own pace.
A perfect family destination any time of year, but especially in Autumn! The spectacular scenery in every direction is ideal for short family drives and ‘off the track’ adventures. Whatever direction you head, there’s always a beautiful cafe or winery with welcoming locals that make you want to come back again and again.
The bushland around Bright is fantastic for walking and riding in and the sunny Autumn days make it a great time of year to explore it.
Bright and the surrounding region makes you realise how lucky we are - not just Autumn but any season. Life doesn’t get much better.
Since visiting Bright a few years ago, it has become one of our favourite holiday places. We travel there from Sydney a couple of times a year and every season brings something different. The town is friendly and welcoming. It’s the perfect place to bring our 2 young children as there are lots of things we can do as a family.
Beautiful Bright is Breathtaking.. Any season Bright is the best destination.. and especially in Autumn with the leaves changing and all the wonderful activities as part of the Autumn festival. Just a wonderful, friendly and welcoming destination for all travellers..
Bright is a lovely town to stay in all year round, there is many things to do and sights to see I especially enjoy bright in winter time so that we can head up to Mt Hotham and Falls Creek for some skiing and snowboarding. The towns folk are very nice and extremely helpful when planning trips and things to do. I recommend Bright to everyone as every now and then you need to get away from the big smoke and enjoy a little relaxation.
Bright in autumn has, of course, the colours and so much more. There are mountains, wine, food, local produce, rivers, walks, drives - the works - a good place to be.
Bright at any time of the year is a wonderful place to escape to, there is something for everyone to enjoy , cant wait for next holiday.
Bright has to be the most after little country village in Australia, we have people coming here over and over again, now 30 years later, it’s still their favorite place in the world… That’s why we choose to live here, because that is what it feels like for us as well… simply the best place with the best people in the world !
Foods, Wines out door acvitities, walks fresh air, crisp clean water, vibrant fresh air and great lifestyle… Come on Australia… come and share our dream place
regards Daniel Boissevain
Bright and surrounding Alpine Valleys display some of the worlds best specimen trees to be experienced all year round along with tastes and wine of the region.
A family holiday tradition has now become home. I love it.
Bright is a wonderful four season town, no wonder it was voted 5th Most Popular place in Australia on Getaway a few years ago. Folks coming to this area find new activities to do each visit. Excellent restaurants - lots of wineries; coffee shops ; walks; tours; the maze at Wandilagong; gold history; trout /alpaca/deer and emu farms; horse riding; microflights; helicopter and scenic joy flights - etc., and so close to 3 mountains for skiing in winter -
Bright for sunshine on a winters day after a frost makes hearts sing.
It seems that many Victorians have very fond memories of their childhood during their annual holidays in Bright. To revisit Bright and the surrounding areas, especially Mt. Buffalo Park in these times of stress and other economic hard times, certainly takes us back to a more casual and enjoyable time.
What a besutiful town. Full of friendly people. Lots to explore
For me Bright is a slice of heaven with beautiful old trees reaching up to mostly blue skies, great walking tracts and there is one of the best op shops next door to an excellent little cafe.
I fell in love with Bright 20 years ago. We came here for holidays as often as we could. That was not enough. We have been residents for 5 years now.
We live in a healing valley that de stresses you the moment you leave the Hume Hwy.It has magical properties.
Bright is surely one of the prettiest places to live. Everyone here is so friendly and there is always something to do. As an American, I would have to say that Bright in the Autumn reminds me of Autumn in the New England area back home which is spectacular. I feel very blessed to be living here in Bright!
Bright in Autumn - beautiful scenery, fabulous Autumn colours, plenty to do, great places to eat, and the biggest and best Art Exhibition in Victoria.
The best way to describe Bright is as I did after moving here, in my first Christmas letter to family & friends, it started - “Merry Christmas from our little bit of heaven”, I had been coming here for over 25 years and it is still a little bit of heaven. Come and see us, you won’t want to leave.
Bright and Mount Buffalo are one of Victoria’s last untouched natural beauties. Absolutely glorious!
The variety of restaurants and quality of the food will certainly give visitors the holiday to remember
Autumn, winter, summer, spring…Bright is always beautiful. From the sunshine and colourful maple leaves to the crisp alpine air, clear waters and good old Aussie gums; it really does feature all the best nature has to offer. Add the fantastic cafes, stores, galleries and coffee shops…well, what more could one want!
Bright is the jewel of Victoria- its many facets and seasons have a beauty that are unmatched. Old and young alike appreciate everything from the exciting to just a quite stroll along the river.Whether accommodation or food the variety is awsome- Bright is simply the best.
Regardless of the time of year - Bright is wonderful. The Bright region is just a devine place to waste the day exploring. There is always something to do, something to see, something to taste, something new to try.
People keep returning because its a brilliant place to stay - central to the regions many activities.
Bright is a place with a quiet bustle in a region of great quiet and beauty
Bright is a fantastic place to visit any time of the year. Bright is surrouded by the 2 magical mountains of Mt Hotham and the magnificent Mt Buffallo.
There is plenty to see and do around Bright and being only a 3.5 hour trip from Melbourne it’s a must to visit.
Bright is the perfect all-year holiday destination . Autumn and Spring is delightful and summer days by a pool or the river is fabulous. In Winter it is just a short drive to the snow . Great restaurants and coffee shops. Can’t think of a more perfect place.
Bright has it all, a diverse range of excellent accommodation, superb food & wine, wonderful attractions, and a great shopping experience. All this set amongst the beautiful Ovens Valley and the best mountain vista’s Australia has to offer.
Warm Regards
why only visit in the Autumn? Bright is colorful and beautiful - always! The township itself and the natural beauty of the surrounding mountains and valleys have so much to offer - once seen, anybody will fall in love with the area.
Quite arguably the best tourist destination in Victoria for those who love picturesque surroundings, their food, wine, natural beauty, beautiful seasons and an extensive range of activities.
Bright is without a doubt the heart of the Victorian High Country, best place to live, fine foods and best wines, many upon many activities to do, from Horse riding, bike riding, kayaking, 4×4 driving, bushwalking, 360 degree views etc etc, the list goes on and on, cthis beautiful little town and it’s people is a must do for everyone visiting Victoria, the best of what the state has to offer is right here !
Walking up the main street of Bright when the leaves fall - heavenly!
Spend some time at Bright, Porpunkah and Myrtleford. Summertime means swimming in refreshing rivers, bike riding, hiking, Wineries. Spend Autunm enjoying the beautiful colours that nature offers, toasting chestnuts on an open fire.
Bright and surrounding areas…Porepunkah, Myrtleford, Gapstead. The beautiful backdrop of Mt Buffalo, gorgeous wineries including Boynton’s & Gapstead.
all the pretty colours and the crisp, clean air! reminds me of my childhood…
Surrounded by mountains nestled in the Alpine area lies Bright - a touch of Europe with chrystal clear rivers and magnificent scenery. Great sightseeing, fishing, snow skiing and a great range of drives for the keen 4WD enthusiast.
Untouched by the hussle and bussle it is a definite must to visit.
Bright is such a lovely destination in Winter. Yes, it is cold, but not much wind and so, not bitter. There is just so much you can do during the winter months you don’r feel the cold. All the usual attractions are open with the added bonus of the snow covered mountains to visit. Once you get there you won’t want to go home.

Just spent a long weekend at Bright, what a fantastic place, lots to see and do. Stayed at Tessie’s,lovely place to stay with your four legged friend!
Perhaps the best viewing of an Australian autumn! A visit years ago still holds great memories. Next trip will be to visit cellar doors and wander towns like Bright longer.
I have voted for Bright in Autumn as it is close to the wineries that I like visting, it is also a beautiful quiet town with friendly people, great restuarants & lovely accomodation.
Just returned from Bright with the family after visiting the Autumn Festival & the kids had a ball with the sights of Brights trees. The festival was great to see & we will be returning again next year.
Bright is beautiful in Autumn, and fantastic to stop in winter for a hot chocolate on the way home from a weekend at Mt Hotham.
