Chocolate Heaven. With the best Hot Chocolate that I ever had. The place is made from straw bales and they only use Belgium chocolate that is only sold there. They have demo at 11 and 2 which are worth going to.

I don’t consider myself a “chocoholic” but after speaking to Chris about which were his favourites I had to try them for myself. He mentioned in his demo that most people don’t even get to their cars before they finish the chokies they bought. My friend and I went back 3 times - but we didn’t even get out of the shop before we whoofed them down. I do believe I am a convert - only for Chocolate Mill chokies though. Yummo!!

A must visit for all serious chocolate lovers.Best chocolate I have ever tasted. ( To those grumbling about rules, just ask your children, even Willy Wonka had rules for those children visiting his chocolate factory)
To Lyn Welsh , wouldn’t it be wonderful if they expanded and opened up in Mildura?
I hope to visit again .

My wife and I just returned from Daylesford after celebrating our 6th year wedding anniversary and we thought we’d take a detour through the Choc Mill…what a delight for the senses, it’s that good and the hot chocolate is too die for…Koko Black needs to watch their back!! Highly recommended and we will definitely be a return customer for the chocs, the great customer service (above & beyond!) and the free t-shirt!!

While in Daylesford on a three day break we were advised to go to the Chocolate Mill. After a spa this topped off a wonderful day. Chris and Jennifer delighted us with a very entertaining talk about their chocolates. You have to admire a couple who decide to do something and make it the best in a few short years. Dedication, Education and award winning Chocolates, what more could you ask for. ?
We congratulate Chris and Jennifer on an excellent showcase of their talents and I know the Chocolate Mill will be around for many years to come. We will definitely be returning and will be recommending to all our friends that they should visit when they are in the area.

I love this place. I have been a few times now and have to keep coming back. The chocolates are next to none and the staff are always polite, friendly, helpful and very professional. The demonstration is very well done and the whole experience is a must for lovers of prefect chocolate.

While I’m big lover of chocolate – my experience at the Chocolate Mill did nothing but leave a bad taste … While I can not fault the actual chocolate produced – the attitude and customer serviced experience from staff was deplorable. From the moment we arrived, we felt belittled by the staff who had more interest in their numerous rules and over the top regulations than they did about sharing their passion for chocolate. Don’t treat people like children and they generally wont act like children.

The chocolate might have been good, however, the customer service was appalling. I have never been to a chocolate factory with so many unreasonable rules and regulations “Not Manners, No Chocolate - that applies to adults and children” - GOOD GRIEF !

What a wonderful experience! Found by chance on a day trip through Daylesford. The presentation and demonstration of making chocolate was both interesting and entertaining (’Please don’t lick the glass’) but the best part was eating the FABULOUS chocolate!! Highly recommended and definitely something to put on that list of 100 things to do before you die!

I have voted because we found the location in a natural and beautiful area with the fantastic straw bale chocolate mill . As soon as we walked in the aroma of chocolate was to die for but then to stand at the window and try not to lick it was very hard not to do. So we moved on to pick a couple of chocolates to have with the best hot chocolate served in a toilet bowl yes very funny shaped cups but it worked so well yum.

The passion and enthusiasm shown by the saff for each individually hand made chocolate and the quality of the ingredients is just part of what makes the Chocolate Mill sooo special. To see the chocolates being made and understanding what we are experiencing in regards to taste and flavour with each chocolate you have the full appreciation of just how delicious these chocolates are. The setting, the building, and the outdoor metal art work makes for a whole package. It’s fantastic to be able to bring a piece of that very special region home. Hmmm….where’s my selection box I might just need a taste right now.

I visited the Chocolate Mill and experienced a hot chocolate like never before! Such purity of the chocolate, and intensity of the taste it actually gave me a head spin! Also, we greatly enjoyed meeting the owner who built the fantastic strawbale building. He gave us some of his precious time explaining his top tips on the method - something we are interested in. A couple like this with a passion and drive for what they do is important to support, and a pleasure to meet. Thank you.

I’ve been having chocolates since I was kid, but never been to a chocolate factory before. It was a bit like that movie :) We missed the presentation. The variety of chocolates on display was mind boggling. Being adults, we chose to try 4 (after much discussions). I will remember the tastes for a long long time. Definitely worth a trip. The hot chocolate at the cafe was ok. Loved the metal statues in the front garden.

We stumbled on the Chocolate Wheel on our travels around Victoria. The service was great, the owner and staff friendly and the atmosphere, even on the dark, wet day we visited, was welcoming. Now if you can move it 1,400kms north to near where I live, it would be even better!

Our daughter from Ballarat suggested a visit and it was such a surprise to find such a lovely place just off the road.We were a bit late for the demo but that didn’t matter because we will be back there just as soon as we can get back to Ballarat to visit the grandchildren. We bought a box of chocolates for both our children and families and ourselves. They are just to die for.We will go to enjoy a hot chocolate next visit as well as purchase more chocolates to eat and share. What a huge range of shapes and fillings and slabs.Don’t leave the chocolate off your itinerary if you are planning a visit in and around Daylesford,Ballarat or Castlemeine. Thanks Chris and Jennifer and don’t ever move unless you plan to move to Mildura.

We were passing by (on our way to Ballarat from the Riverina District, NSW) and popped in out of curiosity. Well, I’m sure glad we did… After an uplifting mug of chilli hot chocolate and a huge coolie bag of chocolate goodies for later, we left the chocolate mill. We then proceeded on to Ballarat for our honeymoon, full of endorphines, love for each other and chocolate…

Deep in the woods is a magical place somewhere between Trentham and Daylesford where your soul can be lifted by those who have captured the spirit of chocolate. The Chocolate Mill is that wonderful place where any chocoholic can leave their gulit at the door. The proprietors, Jennifer and Chris, are true gurus of the cocoa bean. They have created a cathedral devoted to chocolate in its purest sense. The Chocolate Mill will leave any visitor with a lasting and inspirational inner glow knowing that as they let that dreamy chocolate melt in their mouth that nothing has been compromised as only the finest Swiss and Belgian couverture( the essence of chocolate) is used in a wonderful place hand made of hay bails and earth. If you are in love or just in love with chocolate Chocolate Mill is a must.

When I went to the Chocolate Mill with my friend I was amazed at the kind greeetings and hospitality. We both ordered a hot mik choclate when it arrived at our table it came in a soup style bowl with a small drinking type of spout. Once my lips touched that hot drink I was in heaven and have neve tasted any hot chocolate like in in my whole 45 years of my life. It was perfect as I always add sugar to hot chocolates as I never really get the true flavour but this time was a winner. Keep up the good work and I was also happy to say tha their cafe is pet friendly so my pooch was happy to.

Not only does the chocolate taste as good as any in Europe, but this is also a company that is a shining example to others that environmentally sustainable development and practices can help create a successful business.

A chocoholics dream - The Chocolate Mill is a great place to visit and indulge! We were lucky enough to arrive in time for their demonstration, which added to the visit. It is truly great to see people so passionate in their work and their lifestyle. They are inspirational.

Love the fact that the staff know exactly what is in the chocolate and the fillings. They are so happy and friendly and don’t care how long you take to pick your chocolates. Last time we were there we saw kangaroos around the dam and there were all these vintage cars in the car park. Great place for families and you can take your dog as long as it is on a lead. Definately coming back. Well done.

I have soo much to say about the Chocolate Mill, but I’ll try and break it down into points:
    * Friendly and Engaging Staff
    * Actual Building is jam packed with character
    * Relaxing, quiet location to enjoy your goodies in
    * Best Hot Chocolate known to man!
    * And the chocolate, Ohhh the chocolate - to Die for!!!!
All these attributes rolled into 1 made my visit to the Chocolate Mill absolutely Brilliant!! and educational I might add. The demo at 11 was well worth it…

What a lovey surprise in the middle of bushland. A condradiction of an Australian setting delivering the best European based choloclates made right there. Yum.

This place had the most lovely chocolates and hot chocolate in very pleasant surroundings with native plantings. The building appeared to be ecologically friendly made of mudbricks or straw bales with solar panels and water tanks. Short tour was succinct and interesting. I learnt some new things about chocolate!

The most mouth wateringly delicous chocolate I’ve tasted, in perfect mouth sized bites. Beautifully place with a great atmosphere - the sculputres in the garden, bush surrounds and straw bale house.

uuurrgrggg yuck yuck yuck - don’t go there - ONLY JOKING - I want to keep this find all to myself! The chocolate mill has to be one of the best finds in the universe for absolutely the most delicious, delectable and delightful chocolates you will ever have the pleasure of tasting and eating! In fact its so much more than just the enjoying the chocolate - its a whole body experience - whomever said s*x is better than chocolate hadn’t been to the chocolate mill!
Besides the chocolate, the straw bale chocolate mill is located in a beautiful natural bushland area with magnificent vistas, well away from the hustle and bustle, and offers a relaxing and enjoyable experience.

I agree with all previous comments 100%, but: my angle is from my daughter who has many food allergies, we are able to enjoy the dark chocolate with the greatest of pleasure, it is the pleasure of it fine taste for her (She is two), and the pleasure of safety (and fine taste) for me. Thankyou.

Hand made chocolates made with the best of fresh ingredients and fine Belgian chocolate, ‘for the serious chocoholic’. Cafe style drinks to have with your purchase if you wish, in the delightful garden area. Not only chocolates to enjoy, the straw bale premises and sculpture garden are a treat in themselves. Plenty of parking and toilet facilities make the 7 km. drive north of Daylesford worth the effort.

I have been there time and time again, and each time I sample something new. The chocolates are absolutely delicious, there is now a nice cafe added which means you can easily spend an afternoon enjoying the bush surrounds, friendly staff, and really savour the taste of the unique treats.
Of special interest to myself and my partner is the building itself, being a strawbale design which creates a nice ambience.

The best part of the chocolate mill (besides the chocolate) is the fact tat you can see the chocolate being made. Go the Chocolate Mill…….a place for serious chocoholics!
