Coolart is a magnificent late Victorian mansion situated on the shores of Westernport. In the superb grounds are ever-changing wetlands that you can view from the observatory, and a lagoon where thousands of Australian white ibis nest every year. The gracious 1890s Coolart homestead is nestled amongst a landscape of wetlands, lovely manicured gardens and rolling pastures that are connected to a beach by woodland walks. Bring along a picnic or barbecue lunch and bird watchers don’t forget your binoculars.

The 1890s mansion and other historical buildings are set amongst a stunning garden which includes beautifully scented roses and mature deciduous trees. The picnic area has electric barbecues, and a sheltered area is set aside at the old stables. An audio visual show takes place daily in the 90 seat observatory building which can also be used for small seminars. On the woodland and wetlands walks there are bird hides and at the Luxton lagoon there is a two-storey hide where many species of birds can be seen.
