This is a wonderful place to step into another world. To excellent food and just the history on the walls. The Cuckoo clocks everywhere they told us they have the largest cukoo clock - amazing. Great for all the family a must see!!! Victoria has some amazing things to offer and the cukoo is one of them.
When I (from Germany) discovered the Cuckoo Restaurant in Olinda during my first visit to Australia in 1983 I was not only amused, but very amazed to find such a genuine German place so far away from home. A food oasis in the middle of burger-, fish&chips- and chico roll-country. Wow!!
The place has become a second home away from home for me on my visits to Australia. Situated in the heart of the beautiful Dandenongs they offer a wide array (smorgasbord) of exceptional European foods (reasonably priced), super friendly people, who run the place, lots of family and party fun (not only) on weekends, genuine German slap dance and yodel shows, perfectly performed.
Even though I live in the middle of Germany I do miss the place and its atmosphere. Looking forward to my next visit there.
Whenever we have a Special Occasion to celebrate we first look at “The Cuckoo”
The food is outstanding and being a smorgasbord you can go back and help yourself to the vast arrangement of food on offer. The food is so well displayed that it is hard to decide where to start.
The entertainment is fabulous. The small band encourages all guests to participate in the sing-alongs. They also take time to acknowledge birthdays and anniversaries.
Our family loves this place. So much so that my son and his future wife decided to have their Wedding Reception at the Cuckoo Restaurant. We had our own reception room downstairs and the staff made sure it was an occasion that would not be forgotten.

The Cuckoo Restaurant is a truly great must do for anyone coming to Melbourne or Melbournians alike. It’s got fantastic friendly staff and tasty food.
With its classical warm Bavarian charm and atmosphere I would highly recommend the Cuckoo to everyone you will leave with a full belly and a big smile.
