fantastic trail from Leongatha thru Koonwarra and Meeniyan then via other small towns to Foster, follows the old railway line. You can bike, walk, run or horse it through, stop in each town for great eats and superb coffee

I am the Chair Person of the Committee of Management - so If I don’t think it is wonderful who will.
I also want to recognise all the hard work from our volunteers who keep it maintained and plan for further improvements. I must recognise all the support from Govenment State and Federal who help us fund such imprvements as the New Pumphous Pedestrian Bridge - keeping cars and pedestrians, horses and Bikes seperate.

We love cycling on the Great Southern Rail Trail, The surface is very good and there are regular toilet stopes all the way from Leongatha to Foster. We are eagerly awaiting the trail to be joined up between Koonwarra and Minns Road. The scenery is beautiful all along the route, there are picnic tables placed along the way where one can rest and enjoy the views.
The new pumphouse bridge is a fantastic asset and a joy to use.

The rail trail from Leongatha to Yarram. Most of it is complete and is a project we are very proud of.

This is one of the best Rails trails around. The surface is well maintained and suitable for all but the most bikes. The climbs are not steep and a very suitable for children with moderate riding experience. The places to stop along the way for snacks or lunch are great. This ride takes you through rolling farmland and into the edge of rainforest as it rolls down into Foster, the scenery, flora and fauna are second to none. I’ll be back again to try the new bridge and can’t wait until the extension to Yarram.

Hi. I enjoy cycling on The Great Southern Rail Trail! The surface is excellent for all users and it is even accessible by wheel chairs. Bring your horse, take your children for a ride in their pram, run or walk - it is all possible here. Wilsons Promontory and Corner Inlet can be seen on the Lowrys Road to Foster section which is a spectacular view. If you have an interest in bridges - the Tarwin River is one to cross and admire.
