This is a really great bike ride suitable for a family or group - all off road, all paved, and beatiful country - a great way to experience Victoria at a SLOW pace!

We have ridden this trail many times and have always found new experiences and places to visit each time . The scenery is spectacular and the various types of accommodation and variety of food make this a relaxing and enjoyable ride. It is an adventure suitable for all age groups.

Cycling from Brght to Wangaratta in Autumn was just magic. Passing by vineyards, parks and beautiful scenery. Stopping for coffee at one of the many cafes. Finished with dinner at the Alpine Hotel in Bright. Bliss.

This is one of the best things you can do over a few days (if you are a slow cyclist like me) Ride up from Wang to Myrtleford and enjoy the bush and pastural scenery with prepared pit-stops at regular intervals along the way. Stay in the friendly town (that’s not hype) of Myrteford and enjoy the river park. Ride on up to Bright and enjoy teh views, diverting to Mt Buffalo if you are feeling fit. Towards Porpunkah is the best ice creamery. Enjoy the beautiful river park in Porepunkah with great views from the bridge. Stay in Bright or return the same day to Myrtleford. Back to Wang on day 3.

This amounts to about 60 K per day and is quite manageable even for old blokes like me.

I had the opportunity to twice accompany my grandchildren when their school organised outings on this rail trail and needed adult helpers. I had not cycled any long distance for about 40 yrs but after this I wanted to cycle around Australia. It is picturesque, relatively easy and a pleasure to be away from cars.

Excellent, well maintained trails - many other optional rides around the Wangaratta area are also available. This area has some of the lowest average wind speeds - I don’t like head winds !! ;-) Suitable for “road bikes” too

Deservedly the premier bike riding holiday destination in Australia, for the views, the wineries, the produce and the highest-quality bike path. I keep going back and I always love it

A lovely place to ride - the bike moves at the perfect speed for this environment! The family all loved it - even the cycling-averse daughter has asked to go there again.

The Murray to Mountains Rail Trail is Australia’s premier cycling trail winding through picturesque alpine valleys from Wangaratta to Bright and Beechworth. The ride is easy to tackle and along the way, you can explore the many cellar doors, or farm gates offering delicious in-season produce. Because the Trail is off the road, you don’t have to worry about traffic and it is good fun for all the family! The best part is rewarding yourself after a good ride at one of the many cafes or restaurants in the area guilt free!
