This park is our “back yard” It is great to have such a variety of tracks and picnic areas to explore on our mountain bikes.

Great place for Family & Friends to meet & unwind. Lots of areas to have a picnic or for the children to play an activity. The Walking Trails are well marked & the views are magnificent.

We love Grants Picnic Ground - you can get up close to all the wildlife, its OK for wheelchairs, great for children, you can go on the circular walk or just have a nice lunch on the cafe’s decking (or inside if its raining).

Covering 3215 hectares, the beautiful Dandenong Ranges National Park can be enjoyed by strolling along one of the many walking trails, or by cycling or driving through the stunning forests past magical fern gullies and towering stands of Mountain Ash. The Park plays an important role in protecting populations of lyrebirds and other fauna.

Meandering leasurely by car through the Dandenongs Ranges ion a sunny day in Autumn or Spring is very pleasant and relaxing. There are various picnic spots where one can stop for a cuppa amid the peace and tranquility, have lunch at one of the delicious food outlets: plenty of nice restaurants to choose from, window-shop for antiqes, followed by Devonshire Tea at one of the pretty-curtained, old-world charm cafes. Driving back home via ferny avenues interspeared with sunny rays and glowing shade tops up a perfect day.

A fantastic location to relax and get away from the city, stroll down the tracks and have picnis with friends. Or have fantastic scrones and cream at the cafes and shops on the Ranges.

There is so much to do in the Dandenong Ranges that is a delight: wonderful walking tracks, huge trees, ferns, earthy smells, lyrebirds, and bird calls in the forest, cool fresh air, gardens, picnics and BBQs, wonderful views over Melbourne and Yarra Valley, charming cafes and shops, The Cuckoo, William Ricketts Sanctury and Olinda Golf Course. For my young children: feeding parrots at Grants Picnic Ground, Puffing Billy, Emerald Lake and its model trains, and Ferny Creek Reserve playground.
