The International F1 GP has been in Albert Park Reserve, Melbourne, since 1996 and attracts 400,000 spectators to the 4 day event in March each year. Armstrong St shopping centre, Middle Park, which is opposite the track comes alive with spectators enjoying the excellent cafes, winebars and pub scene and most are very well behaved. Locals join in and enjoy it too. The RAAF airshow has kids and adults alike thrilled by the fighter jets noise and stunts. Local B&B and hotels do well during this event including my B&B - Jackson’s on Middle Park (B&B). Incidentally, I shop at and eat in Armstrong St daily and find it superior to nearby St Kilda in many ways. I also recommend Armstrong St, Middle Park, to my B&B guests. The No 96 lightrail tram for the CBD stops opposite the street at the Middle Park stop before continuing on the St Kilda.

Why’d I vote for this? Because I read that NOBODY had. I got onto the site to do so, but, guess what! It wasn’t on the list of things to vote for!
Well, now it is. And here’s another vote. Because it deserves it.

It’s noisy enough from the anywhere nearby, but it’s quite something standing next to the track!

The Melbourne Grand Prix Circuit is a street-based circuit around Albert Park Lake, only a couple of kilometres south of central Melbourne. It is used once a year as a racetrack for the Australian Grand Prix and associated support races.
The circuit utilises everyday sections of road that circle Albert Park Lake, a small man-made lake just south of the Central Business District of Melbourne. The road sections that are used were rebuilt prior to the inaugural event in 1996 to ensure consistency and smoothness. As a result, compared to other circuits that are held on public roads, Albert Park is quite smooth as a racing surface and picturesque as there are only a few other places on the Formula 1 calendar where there is a body of water close to a racing track.

The world’s best motorsport event comes to Albert Park every March for four days of fun on and off the track. Formula 1, V8 Supercars and this year an awesome outdoor concert by Kiss. It’s a must see event

Some of the fastest cars in the world go round and round in circles, and occasionally crash. Lots of fun.

Melbourne’s Formula 1 Grand Prix is one of the icons of F1 world wide.
Ask the Formula 1 drivers, ask the people who follow the F1 circuit arounf the world, Melbourne and Monarco are mentioned in the same sentance by the same circle of super fans.
The rich and famous and the passionate with money to spend come to Melbourne only twice a year, Formula 1, and the Austrealian Open (Tennis)
It is an exceptional event, and a credit to Melbourne and Victoria. The Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix.
