A beautiful experience that really lends a great appreciation for the Chinese contribution to our society. Illuminates Australia’s past attitudes to the Chinese people.

Gives a great insight into Chinese culture, how it relates to the goldfields and of the discrimination faced by the early Chinese. It also shows how much Chinese culture is contributing to Bendigo, with its magnificent displays, events and by virtue of this unique museum.

Beautifully presented, well-organised wide-ranging displays. Friendly, knowledgeable guides and explainers. Exquisite crafts, especially gold embroidery. Comprehensively stocked and affordably priced gifts in the gift-shop. A great deal to see in a fairly compact area. They also contribute significantly to the conservation and restoration of Chinese goldfields heritage items. It is unlike any other museum I have ever visited, in Australia or overseas, and holds its own in terms of affordability and interest.

The Golden Dragon Museum is amazing. I really enjoyed the tour of the museum and the gardens. A walk over a marble bridge took me to the Chinese temple with a large marble statue of Kwan Yin the Godess of Mercy and compassion.

A very colourful and fascinating history of the Chinese in Bendigo. A wonderful experience for all ages.
The world’s longest and oldest Imperial Dragons in world are an impressive sight. The longest (Sun Loong) still parades on Easter Monday though Bendigo’s streets, not to be missed if you are in Bendigo at Easter.

Really welcoming for the kids. Quite awesome for the little ones. Fish feeding in the gardens a real hit. Plenty to interest all the family. Central location and parking a bonus. Byo picnic opportunity in beautiful park next door, as well as family friendly food in the museum tearooms. Obviously authentic displays.

Bendigo’s Golden Dragon Museum rates very highly as a tourism attraction because its presentation is attractive, is community based and, most importantly, displays are authentic, the ‘real thing’, not a late 20th Century cheap copy.

A true and authentic record of the hardship of the chinese in Australia. With items as old as 1500 BC it is a wonderful museum.

Major inland city with some magnificent buildings from the gold mining era. Unique features include the tour of the city on the talking tram, one of the best regional art galleries in Australia, the Golden Dragon Chinese Museum with its cultural connections with the Chinese involvement with the gold rush, the Central Deborah Gold Mine, the Bendigo Pottery, many wineries producing some magnificent wines as well as a vast range of very fine dining experiences.
