Having lived in the area for 28 years, nothing compares to Harrietville.
A mountain village with National Parks on our back doorstep…friendly locals….great places to meet, greet and eat!
You can do as much, or as little, as you like!
Fish the streams or catch dinner at the Trout Farm! Pick your own berries for dessert. Wander the Bush Market, enjoy a coffee or bite to eat at Morries or Bella’s. Find a homemade treat at Granny’s Pantry or buy a souvenir from the General Store. Enjoy the warmth of the fire and the hospitality at the Snowline Hotel. Try the pizza’s & Asian inspired meals at the Harrietville Hotel. Soak in the smells at the Lavender Farm.
Or find a quiet spot by the river and enjoy a swim in Summer.
Harrietville has such a wonderful atmosphere, all year round!
You’ll want to move here too!!!

Harrietville is a great all-year-round holiday destination. It boasts a wide variety of accommodation to suit couples and families, catering to all budgets. Harrietville is located at the base of Mount Hotham and represents great value and convenience for alpine skiers and snowboarders in the winter. While in the warmer months, visitors can enjoy bushwalking, sight-seeing, trout fishing or just splashing-around in the crystal clear waters of the Ovens River. Harrietville also has some ‘cosy’ bars, restaurants and eateries, which include local beers, wines, cheeses and produce. So whether planning to do a little or a lot, the small town of Harrietville will leave visitors spoilt for choice.

Harrietville is a wonderful, picturesque village at the foot of Mount Hotham. It’s a delightful all year-round place to holiday. Skiing, bushwalking, fishing, hang-gliding and cycling are some of the physical activities enjoyed by many. Others of us prefer the physical activity of dining and wining on the local produce while enjoying the friendly ambience.

Fabulous scenery - the bluest of blue skies, crystal clear waters of the Ovens River, brown and rainbow trout, crisp clear nights with more stars than you thought existed, mountain peaks, (that you can just admire without the need to actually climb them), whilst having drinks on pub verandas. Cafes, coffee, friendliest of people, and the State’s premier festival - the annual Blue Grass Festival in November. Best stop telling every-one about it or it will be too crowded!

I have been spending holidays in Harrietville for over 30 years and my children looked forward to these times together. They grew up into adulthood meeting with friends made during this time at this beautiful village. Children are always safe there and can play in the river at the lovely caravan park surrounded by hills and walks up Feathertop and many other tracks. Peaceful and relaxing and the people are very friendly. Lots of atmosphere all year round. Now of course, it will not be a “secret” anymore. Go and Enjoy

I remember the first time I visited Harrietville over 10 years ago. The locals made me feel very welcome. So welcome, I keep heading back there, year after year.
If its a super busy town you are after, Harrietville is not the place for you.
But if you are after a truly relaxing break where you can take you time enjoying a beer on the deck of one of the two pubs, fishing for a trout in the river or looking for a base to stay at to access all the activities in the area, Harrietville is the place.
Right at the base of Mt Hotham with Victoria’s (maybe Australia’s) best snow ski-ing, direct access to some of Victoria’s most renowned walking tracks up to feathertop and beyond.
