La Mama Theatre is a vibrant and essential part of Melbourne’s rich cultural life. La Mama presents a huge number of plays every year, as well as play-readings, poetry evenings and other activities. At a very reasonable cost audiences can experience experienced professionals to emerging artists all extending and developing their skills and range, doing a piece of new work they think is amazing, or exploring new forms and new approaches to telling a story in the theatre. At La Mama you can see work that is cutting-edge, realist, funny, political, experimental, literary, moving and mind-blowing. A living, breathing, amazing treasure.
