Keep coming back to this place. Love the tasting plate out under the shade trees. Quiet, history, fresh air, good food and friendly service.

If you like pretty country side, peace and quiet, Lavandula is a place to visit. Not far from Melbourne - it sells lovely homewares and natural beauty products, has a restored stone cottage and is set amongst pretty gardens. Have coffee and cake and just pretend you live in the country. Somewhere you can go to “get away from it all”.

Every time I visit Lavandula I come away with a great sense of peace. I don’t know whether it’s the perfume of lavender in the air, or the wonderful soothing feeling of having found “home”. The place oozes love and everywhere you look you can see the personal touch of the owner, Carol. Particularly inside the restored house, there is a warmth and family feeling, and the detail (such as the mural of Italian scenes on the entrance wall) makes you feel like a personal guest rather than a tourist. I have taken my children there, from the age of two to eighteen, and also visitors from Japan and Africa. There is something interesting for all ages and everyone feels instantly at home. And the food is absolutely delicious.

Lavendula is a place that captures a feeling of old fashioned European romance set amongst Australian landscape. I love going there and taking my friends there too.

We enjoy visiting Lavandula as a family. My son loves the animals and being able to feed them. I love looking through the shop and buying lots of beautiful smelling bits and bobs. The cafe is really rustic and we love having a plate of bread and oil- we feel like we are in Italy. It is very reasonable entry price for a family and a visit to Lavandula is a must-see to complete a great weekend in Daylesford/Hepburn. Highly recommend it !

I enjoy the excellent food that is on offer because I know they use the best and freshest ingredients. The menu changes from time to time and is perhaps seasonal. The gardens, animals and the open space all provide a very relaxing atmosphere, especially on a lazy Sunday afternoon. What I love the most is the lavender scones with cream and jam with a pot of tea.

We regularly escape the city and head up to Hepburn Springs for the weekend. I so look forward to lunch at the Lavender farm’s trattoria, where, with a glass of local red and a wonderful seasonal meal, the pressures of Melbourne life dissappear instantly. We sit for a while and watch the geese waddle past and children playing bocce or simply take in the beautiful suuroundings. Both the formal European gardens and the rambling English cottage gardens are a joy to stroll around in any season and now a lovely gallery has been added to the little shop. I am inspired over and over again by this beautiful and tranquil place in this incredibly special part of Victoria. Congratulations Carol White for bringing local history to life and creating this oasis at Shepherd’s Flat. Rebekah Kirchner

This place is beautiful and peaceful especially in Winter. Although all lavenders have been harvested, the red maples colour the place.
