Macedon Ranges - Naturally Cool Located right on Melbournes doorstep, the Macedon Ranges is a picturesque region of fertile river valleys, rolling hills and tree-clad ranges, woven together by dozens of diverse towns and tiny villages. Each town is a thriving community buzzing with its own artistic, historic and culinary energy. Rolling farmland and bluestone cobblestones, contemporary art and rural charms, dramatic landscapes that change with the seasons, world class events and out of the way hiding places combine to make the Macedon Ranges region an exceptional part of Victoria, just a short drive from Melbourne and other major towns in the state. On the way through the Macedon Ranges, you’ll pass sights that are signatures of the region historic stone buildings, gums and elms lining the roadside, glimpses of Mount Macedon at every corner, signposts to cellar doors and fresh farm produce, and boutique shops with windows full of treats. All hint at something worth exploring in detail. The Macedon Ranges is less than an hour’s drive from Melbourne along the Calder Freeway, and only half that time from Melbourne’s Tullamarine Airport.

My boyfriend and I decided to take a leisurely drive to Macedon yesterday. I’d never been out that way and was really surprised by the beauty of the area. We had a brilliant meal at the Macedon Hotel infront of a wood fire. The atmosphere was beautiful! Then up to Mount Macedon for a walk on the walking track and to the Memorial Cross. The views were simply breathtaking. On our way home to Melbourne we stopped at Malmsbury and bought some delicious cakes to take away with us. We have this wonderful part of the world so close to home and I intend to travel more around this great state and continue to soak in all the goodness it provides.
Macedon Rangers, Hills, English Gardens Wineries, Holgate brew house, boutique guest houses, great vanilla slices and so much more.
After only living in Victoria for only 2 years and many trips to the Macedon Ranges I decided I had to move there. The food, the wine, the spas, the countryside and the people make the Macedon Ranges a must do for everyone. Just a word of warning - you may end up never leaving!!!
