The Melbourne Visitor Centre is located underground in Federation Square. When you come down the stairs you are stunned by the vast area and amount of information available. There is a wealth of information on Melbourne and Regional Victoria and the friendly volunteers and staff are very helpful in answering queries. It is the first place visitors should come to before you go anywhere. It is also considered one of the best Visitor Centres in the world.

Calling all Sydneysiders or others thinking of visiting Sydney in July - think again. With all the security planned by NSW Premier Iemma for the Popes visit get away from it all and visit us in Melbourne or Victoria as a whole. In July Melbourne is a POPE FREE ZONE. However for the Roman Catholics failthful do visit St Patricks Cathedral Melbourne as they will give you a warm welcome.

I find the knowledgeable staff listen to the visitors’ particular interests and needs and provide much useful information while pointing out any relevant bonus offers and free activities such as the City Circle Tram and Tourist Shuttle Bus.

This is a great visitors centre and well run. I go there about 6 times a year to collect tourist information for the B&B guests and information on activities I may wish to attend like the Melbourne Comedy Festival and Speigeltent. Lord Mayor John So and the Melbourne City Council are to be commended for operating this visitors centre and promoting Melbourne generally and 1990’s Premier Jeff Kennett is to be congratulated for building Federation Square that houses the visitors centre.
