Superbly appointed B&B with real charm and atmosphere. Take a run up hill and sit with a wine and watch the world go by. Excellant service.

I gave my husband a belated birthday gift and he commented it is his best birthday gift ever. We both enjoyed the serene environment to unwind ourselves after a hectic and busy week in Melbourne. The alpacas don’t mind sharing their paddock with you too and not to forget the friendly dog, Nellie.
Ada and Prue thought of everything one would need for breakfast when on holidays and stock up the fridge with bacon, eggs, yoghurt, milk, etc. Even got a chance to taste mother’s homemade tomato sauce and it’s the best sauce I ever tasted. They even stock up with different types of cereals, a variety of tea, coffee and you can even make a cup of hot chocolate. Chocolates were left on the bedside table and homemade biscuits on the dining table. Oh almost forgot to mention the variety of fruits in the bowl.
What a way to relax in the spa looking at the wood fire through the window after walking around Castlemaine the whole day.
Would recommend anyone hoping to learn more about strawbale houses to stay at the MillDuck to have a feel for it first . Ada had very patiently give us an informative guided tour of their house and sharing their experiences in building and staying at a strawbale house.

A very tranquil hideaway full of country charm, splendid views and a range of activites (or not) to meet anyone’s needs. Very accomodating and throughtful hosts with great attention to detail.

I took my partner to MillDuck for a weekend birthday surprise. We had THE most sensational time - unlike any other B& B we had been to.
Ada and Prue had the most extraordinary attention to detail, right down to ensuring that the tea was always fresh! And designing the straw bale huts so we had the best view from the shower! They respected our privacy to the extent of knocking from the inside of their own back door, before entering a courtyard we had exclusive use of.
And the alpacas! They were gorgeous. Prue and Ada were happy for us to get up close and personal with them, including the provision of a special picnic rug from which to watch them frolick as the sun went down.
The views were breathtaking and the straw bale hut had everything that you could want including open fire place and enormous spa.
I can gurantee anyone a wonderful time at MillDuck. Enjoy!

A delighful experience in tranquil surrounds. Accommodation is clean and charming and invites relaxation. You can take a spa by the fire side, relax by the water, fish, bike ride and walk around the extended garden and country side. A great way to recharge.

Charming B&B set in peaceful surroundings. Take a wander around the farm and chat to the alpacacs, then climb the hill for a little exercise.
Spectacular views from the spa…
