Mornington Peninsula has the best of the bay and ocean beaches.  Pristine clear waters and white sands.  A recent English friend said “who needs to go to the French Riviera when you have this at your doorstep”.  The back beaches are ruggedly beautiful and the front beaches shallow waters are ideal for children.  All lying aside quaint to cosmopolitan  seaside towns such as Sorrento, Rye, Dromana and Portsea.Suggested by: Sandra

So close to home, yet feels so far away. I close my eyes and imagine I am on a Greek island.

In Summer there’s nothing better than taking the kids to Capel Sounds bay beach - the water is warm and shallow and the kids imaginations come alive creating islands and treasure maps, forts and castles on the sand bars all whilst Mum & Dad sit back and relax.
Whereas in the winter the back beach makes you feel alive and in one with the elements. Rug up with your beanie & scarf and walk along Gunnamatta beach - the waves pounding down and the spray on your face. The wide expanse of sand before you with only the occasional fisherman or surfer in sight. Right your special note in the sand to a loved one - There’s nothing better.

The beaches are clean, uncrowded and close to Melbourne for daytrippers. The locals are helpful and very welcoming. Driving through Moorooduc, Tyabb, Tuerong, and Balnarring, we saw some of the most lovley farmland and wineries. We walked the Two Bays walking track and saw kangaroos and birds, finishing at Bushranger’s Bay. What a beautiful walk!
