As a Boston local I was quite at home during my stay in Mt. Macedon during the months of March-June. I can now see why people compare the two places. The wonderful destinations like the Memorial Cross and Sanitorium Lake are just beautiful.

Mt Macedon must be one of the most unknown delights of victoria. You always feel you have it all to yourself whether it is exploring Camels Hump or walking through thr rain forest to Sanitorium Lake. The wonderful european gardens are another story, just wonderful.

Visit the Memorial Cross and take a walk around up the top of the mount; enjoy the beautiful open gardens on Mt Macedon; see the beautiful autumn colours; visit the local wineries.

While in the area, I remember remarking on the panoramic views of the mountain from the road. Next time I will venture to the top!

Always a pleasure to visit because there is just so much to see and do here. Just watch out for the leeches if you go bush

Mount Macedon is a fantastic area of Victoria in all seasons, it is generally cooler than Melbourne during summer and can even offer snow during the winter. There are excellent views of Melbourne from the top of the mount, and panoramic views of all directions from the cross.
There are some great eateries, and wineries aren’t too far away.
It can be reached easily by car, or train and bicycle - the ride up the mountain is hard, to say the least, but going down is most exhilarating.
Next April, consider going to the cross on Mount Macedon, where you can participate in a most memorable ANZAC Day service, together with the descendants of the ‘Light horsemen’ and their horses.
