This is a wonderful country town event where people from all around the region spend a wonderful afternoon browsing the markets and evening enjoying the carnival. A great place to take the kids and enjoy a family night out. Oh and the other wonderful thing is the beautiful art display throughout the main street over the Christmas New Year period. A beautiful town to visit and a great way to spend you New Year’s celebrations!

Where else could be better to be on new years eve than at the Nathalia New Years eve carnival! A great place to catch up with friends, family and visitors alike. It is oganised by a committed band of local volunteers who put on new and entertaining attractions each year. Also supported by local businesses. The fireworks at midnight are terrific.

Nathalia’s New Years Eve Carnival is one of the best carnivals for a family that I have attended. Being a mother of two young boys New Years Eve can be a bit of a hassell, although with Nathalia’s carnival they were kept interested all night, with side show amusements, Cobb & Co Rides, local singers and not to mention the HUGH BANG of fireworks to top off the night. at midnight. Well worth putting this event on your calander!!

The best part of the carnival is that the whole town is there and you can catch up with people you don’t always see. Its also a great fundraising event for local services and charaties who often have stalls there, so altogether, a fantastic community event!!

The New Years Eve Carnival is a fantastic way for the entire family from all age groups to bring in the New Year, we now have friends who bring their family from Melbourne every year to enjoy the event, the art windows, afternoon market, great food, rides for the kids, a friendly and safe atmosphere and all finished off with a fireworks display that last year, lasted longer than both the Melbourne and Sydney fireworks! There is no better place to see in the New Year.

New Years Eve in Nathalia is fanastic for the whole family, I used to live in Nathalia and we would be there every year, its just a great family day/night, to be able to catch up and mingle with many people. I recommend to everyone out there to go and enjoy a wonderful day/night. Unfortunately as I live a distance away, myself,my husband and my children are disappointed that we are unable to return every year.

My family love to go to Nathalia for the New Years Eve Carnival. The variety of artwork displayed in the shop windows (and on the Broken Creek) shows the diverse talent of local artists. The street market followed by an evening Carnival provides entertainment for all ages, and the fireworks at midnight are spectacular. I would recommend the event to everyone.

Took my daughter, son-in-law & grandkids for the first time last year, what a wonderful family experiance & magical memories to treasure. Will be going back for this year’s celebibration, even though the midnight fireworks frightened the little grandson because he wasn’t expecting it to be so BIG. :-)

One of the best kept secrets of Victoria, and it shouldn’t be, an event that’s family friendly and has something for everyone, including a raffle for a 6×4 trailer chockers full of goodies for a couple of bucks with the evening concluding with a countdown to a fireworks display that you’ll find unbelievable. Congratulations to the Nathalia Lions, Carnival Committee and all the other volunteers for a great community effort. And did I mention the fabulous Art Windows?
DON’T KEEP THIS A SECRET ANY LONGER -COME AND SEE IT FOR YOURSELF :-)

    An authentic country experience!

See the entire wider community, all ages mixing together and having fun on an often very warm summers night.

Closing the very wide main street and filling it with people totally changes the feel of the town.

Nathalia is an attractive country town just two and a half hours north of Melbourne. It is the centre of the Murray River playground and a short drive to some of the best beaches along the great Murray River. It is close to the world-renowned Barmah Forest with its giant red gum trees where you can camp, swim, fish, or just relax in the great outdoors.
Between Christmas and New Year, Nathalia has an excellent display of works by local artists displayed in the shop windows for all to view. This is followed by a market and carnival on New Years Eve culminating with a magnificent fireworks display at mid-night. There is no better way to see-in the New Year…

Located close to the famous Barmah Forest on the Murray River in Northern Victoria, Nathalia is one of the state’s hidden “Treasures”. The New Years Eve Carnival and associated festivities is just one of many reasons families should mark Nathalia as a “must-visit” destination, not only during the Christmas New Year period but at all times of the year.

From the prospective of an over seas traveler, the New Years Eve carnival in Nathalia is simply amazing. The atmosphere of the entire town is bubbly and you can’t help yourself to get caught up in the excitement.

From Doge’em cars, the Rotary spinning wheel and local entertainment there is not a minute to be missed.

However, the main attraction would have to be the stunning fireworks display that is put on at the end of the night when the New Year begins.

I would not hesitate to recommend the Carnival to anyone!

New Years Eve in Nathalia is not to be missed. There is something for every member of the family. The Art Windows showcases the many talented artists we have in the area and the market stalls and carnival have activities for all to enjoy.
It is particularly safe for those with young children.
What better way is there to relax amongst friends while listening to the band playing, enjoying samples of local produce (desserts by Lions Ladies Yum)
and hoping you win first prize in the major Hospital raffle.
At midnight a spectacular display of fireworks brings in the New Year.
Do yourself a favour and come for a visit. You will find this small town has a lot to offer.

A fantastically friendly, safe and welcoming town. Plenty of local and semi -local attractions to keep the kids busy and happy. The New Years Eve Festival is a real highlight. The market stalls are great - plenty of variety- and the kids are kept entertained with amusement rides (even in the blistering heat!) The local motel is clean and well run. We were really impressed and would recommend it. Keep up the good work.

What a great way to start the year with a 15-20mins fire works, that by far is the best in the region.
Everyone is welcome to come to our small but proud little town and enjoy the whole day with the markets and side shows, and to see some of our great artists work hung in the front windows of the stores.
Very worth while to bring the whole family along to enjoy the day and night!!!

The Nathalia New Years Eve Carnival Art Windows Festival, is a display of Art Works done by local people.
It has enabled our local artists to display their works of art, for all to view.

Nathalia is a small picturesque town on the Broken Creek (30mins Shepp. 35mins Ehuca) Each year from early December the town holds an Art Windows Festival which leads up to the New Year’s Eve Carnival.
All businesses in town display art works and their is a people’s choice award. There are three weekends in December of Art Demonstrations, Music etc. and the culmination is the New Year’s Eve Festival - great family event, with paddle boats on the creek, Cobb & Co coach rides, amusements, stalls and food and a great fireworks display at midnight.
Great friendly town, close to the river for camping experience and to other district attractions. Worth a visit

Nathalia is a wonderful town that has the picturesque Broken Creek meandering right through it.

The New Years Eve Carnival is in the main street which is wide with huge grassy and treed areas. The rides and fun are old fashioned - which is part of the charm. There are dodgem cars, jumping castles and machines that whirl you around. Lots of other sideshow amusements, too many to mention. The carnival is a major fund raiser for the local hospital.

There’s a huge market along the creek banks on the lawns - it’s a really attractive setting.

Nathalia has quite a few well known artists. Bill Kelly (Internationally and Australian renowned) and Glenda Cornell who runs a small artists colony call “Cockatoo Island”. There are lots of exhibitors and the local shops display the paintings in their window. All up there is a kilometre of art to enjoy.

The best part about Nathalia is that it is affordable. The accomadation is priced within most peoples budget. There are 2 really good caravan parks and a Motel. Bernie Ryan has a wonderful B and B.

For those who travel with Dogs or Cats. Nathalia has an excellent short or long term boarding.

The night is topped off with a huge fireworks display - not good for dogs that are afraid of fireworks - but thrilling for people.
