The Pyrenees is one of our oldest and best wine regions with a great variety of stunning reds, lovely laid back rural scenery and the beautifu unspoilt St.Arnaud Range National Park as a backdrop. Gracious heritage buildings from the goldrush, steeped in history and lazy country drives to real cellar doors where you meet the actual wine maker.
Just gotta go!!

    There’s too much to experience in one day even if only two hours from Melbourne, so stay awhile in a range of accommodation styles and take your time. Hike, hire a bike, or four wheel drive through the picturesque Pyrenees Mountains, play golf or stroll around the historic towns and hamlets then head to the wineries for a great winery experience. Meet the winemaker, relax by the fire and purchase a treasure.

    One of the best red wine areas on Victoria. A must is a long weekend stay at the Avoca Cottages with friends a day at the Avoca races then the next day touring the wineries.

    great experience within 2 hours of Melbourne. See what we have to offer, we have more than wineries, there are hills to visit, old gold field sites to explore and even an old Goldfield town, Avoca has an Historic town walk and we have a Monthly Fine Wine, Art and Craft Market on the fourth Sunday.

    Starting at Avoca, which is only about 2 hours drive from Melbourne, you can choose from about 35 wineries in the region - so in a weekend you can taste and buy from so many different cellar doors. Some have their own restaurants or drop in to local cafes.
    All the time being surrounded by beautiful scenery, quaint old towns and good old fashioned country hospitality. Lots of bush walking available, too.
    Often there may be a local event happening, like markets, horse racing or vintage car rallies etc. You can find out from the Pyrenees website.

    Well worth the drive to this historic wine area. Charming and personal cellar doors with nice reds.

    Visiting winery cellar doors to get a feel of a new area and chat with the winemakers, apart from taking home some cherished memories in a bottle!
