The Rutherglen Wine Experience & Visitor Information Centre provides a focal point for the visitor to Rutherglen. With 19 cellar doors in close proximity, the region is world-famous for its large selection of fortified wines such as muscat, port and tokay. Explore Rutherglen’s Muscat Trail travelling along quiet back roads and tracks used by cyclists, including many that have been family owned for over 100 years, such as All Saints Estate which has one of the most spectacular vineyard settings in Australia, located on the banks of the Murray.

Visiting the Rutherglen region is a “must”. Sun-drenched climate, a huge variety of wonderful, quality wines and fortifieds, specialty foods to tantilise the tastebuds and the hospitality and friendliness always draws me back.
The “Tastes of Rutherglen” is a great wine and food experience over two weekends in March. But the best kept secret in Rutherglen is Beaumont’s Cafe. Chef Peter Weir serves the most wonderful food and we are happy to travel half an hour to what we consider to be the best restaurant in the North East.
Rutherglen has some excellent vineyards with very helpful staff. A great pie shop and many interesting little stores can be found in the main street. There is also a very good information centre in town.
For a fun and good value weekend away this is the best place to go!
We love Wine, to experience ” The taste of Rutherglen” on the queens birthday weekend was so much fun! $20 for a bus to pick up & drop off and $20 for your passport & glass what more can you ask for!
We live in the yarra valley but rutherglen wins our vote!
Dessert wines here are the very best and unique. Whilst in this region you must also visit the many gourmet food stops - especially olives and cheeses (Indigo Cheese Factory at All Saints).
You absolutely have to do the muscat trail. How good are these wines!
A lovely world of relaxation tinged with a taste or two.
Koendidda Bed & Breakfast
Mansion built in 1863, and now bed & breakfast in Barnawartha, in the Rutherglen region. Host Sharon Cook’s attention to detail is just fantastic, as is her culinary skills. Highly recommended.
I live here and lots of friends stay and visit attractions around town and enjoy what it has to offer - I’m proud of that as l was born here!
A place we have visited many times and always enjoyed the tastes. An Australian icon for ‘desert wines’ with wineries like Morris. Close to Albury/Woodonga where there is even more history and great shopping!
One of the true “sacred sites” of wine experience in Australia. Steeped in a wonderful history, with brilliant wines, many memorable characters and personalities, and a great range of food and wine experiences within easy driving or cycling range of plenty of affordable and good quality accommodation.
We have been visiting Rutherglen for many years and have always come home with many luscious wines, having spent time with knowledgeable and friendly winemakers and the welcoming people of Rutherglen. We have introduced so many of our friends to the joys of the Rutherglen region we almost feel like it’s a home away from home.
