sault restaurant, sailors falls

A slice of rural France in Victoria, the restaurant is even named after a French town famed for its lavender, which is fitting considering it’s also a working lavender farm. All herbs and vegetables used are grown on-site and you can taste the difference.

Proud to say our favourite restaurant. A true dining experience. As long time visitors to the Daylesford region we always wondered about the beautiful stone French Provincial building surrounded by lavender fields we passed on the way. Once discovered it lives up to all expectations. We are so excited to be holding our wedding there later this year.

We had our daughters wedding at Sault. It is wonderful place for a wedding,The grounds and venue, layout of the restaurant with views from all tables looking over the lake and the outside deck allows additional space for people to mingle and catch the sunset accross the lake from the west.. The managers Jodie and Damien are very professional. They are efficient, highly organised and caring about their patrons and staff. This reflected in the service and attention to detail we received in the many months leading up to the wedding and especially on the day. We revisit regularly for other important functions with family and friens. The food is always of a high standard and the staff friendly . We applaud their committment to use as much local produce as possible in thier menu.

A travel back in time to the good old days when fresh country air and peace and quiet abounded. From the moment you step out from the carpark, across the gravel path, past the gently lit water fountain with the sound of peaceful music, through the wooden door and into a beautiful dining room, complete with genuine, roaring fire, this is the place to be. Great food, great location, even better staff. I wish all restaurants and experiences could be like this!

Amazing use of regional produce, Sault really is the complete package. My wife and I are regular diners in the Daylesford region and Sault is hands-down the ultimate dining experience.

A truly beautiful meal served by very attentive and well trained staff made the entire evening a pleasure. A very cold night was warmed by the open fire creating the perfect ambience. Well done Sault, we will certainly spread the word.

My partner and I have now had two superb visits to Sault, our favourite of several great Daylesford dining choices. The staff are warm, friendly and knowledgable. I love the food- wonderful flavors and great presentation. The staff have been consistently excellent- warm and welcoming, as well as knowledgeable about local produce and wines. And it’s a beatiful building and sorrounds. Looking forward to out next visit!

My daughter was married at this extraordinary country venue. The food outstanding to the last morsel, wine selection left my head spinning and the service a delightful blend of city slick/hip meeting genuine Victorian country hospitality. All nestled in a wondeful environment where one couldn’t help but feel calmed and nourished on every level. Well done Jodi ,Damien and the team at Sault. Go the 5 stars.

Sault is absolutely beautiful, we are having our wedding reception there late this year as the venue is just beautiful and the owners as so wonderful and friendly. Every time we go there they make us feel right at home and I can’t wait to have our reception there!

A combination of the French style farm-house/restaurant surrounded by beautiful rows of pale purple lavander, wide open Australian bushland in the background and lake in between make Sault the most beautiful and peaceful setting, especially at sunset. The restaurant itself has a lovely country, yet simple and modern, feel to it and is light, open and airy. The food and wine are also superb without being pretentious. All that, combined with the friendly, personalised but professional service add up to make Sault a very special place. My husband and I thought it was so special that we decided to get married at Sault and have our reception there too! It truly was the perfect place for such an important day and celebration.

Sault would have to be the best restaurant we have dined in for a long time. That is why we keep on going back. From its menu to wine list and the professionalism of the staff and their attention to detail. You are made to feel so welcome as soon as you step inside.

Sault is just a beautiful place. The food is great, the ambiance, something special, set in lavender gardens overlooking a lake. The feeicient, friendly, welcoming staff make Sault a memorable experience indeed. We love being there and the drive itself from not-too-far-away Melbourne is, even in itself, pleasant enough.

The food at Sault is AMAZING!! I live on the east side of Melbourne, the food alone is worth the 2 hour drive EVERY single time. The friendly service and the serenity at Sault is a wonderful BONUS.

I have been to Sault several times over the past few years which is why I chose to have my daughters wedding there. The service on every occasion was terrific and the food exceptional. My partner and I subsequently had Mothers Day lunch there. I tried to rate the experinces a 5, but my fingers misjudged and it only rec’d a 4.5 - oops!

Sault embodies the country warmth and feel of a rustic farm while providing a menu and service that most city locations would die for. Well worth putting on the to do list. 5 stars in my book hands down.

It’s the food, the service and warm hospitality, and of course the very beautiful setting of the lavender farm. If you’re there at sunset you’ll will find yourself in another world gazing over the reflection in the lake as the sun goes down behind the hills. Gorgeous.
