A truly decadent experience although the Japanese-size rooms made me feel like a giant!

Intimacy is the keynote to Shizuka Ryokan - with just six guestrooms visitors feel like they have the whole place to themselves. The warm, personalised service from the Japanese and Aussie staff reinforce that impression.
The spa treats, including the traditional Shiatsu style of massage and the signature Geisha Facial, are simply “to-die-for”.
Their cuisine is also excellent, with a four-course Japanese banquet dinner a highlight, being served either in the individual guestrooms or otherwise in the dining room. Aussie breakfasts are available, although I opted for the Japanese platter which was surprisingly good and well worth the try.
Their attention-to-detail starts well before arrival with a comprehensive booking confirmation sent to all guests. Their huge website is also worth a look.
