The Stawell Gift offers those in the grand stand and lining the ground, an intimate experience with the participants. The atmosphere is permeated with romance, struggle and jubilation. Any of the three days of the Stawell Gift carnival are worth attending, to get an insight into the prestige and history of the event.
Spend some time in the Hall of Fame and see if you can recognise some of the legends featured there around the ground…..many participants return to ‘mecca’ long after they have retired from competition. Pick your ’smokey’ and place a bet…cheer your runner on regardless of the outcome! A visit to the sacred ground of Central Park, Stawell during Easter will capture your imagination for years to come.

See the final for the richest prize money in Australia for an athletic event..

A more enjoyable weekend would be very hard to find. Plenty of quality foot running, an excellent party scene and willing locals abound. What more could you ask for?
They had extraordinary vision when they started this incredible annual event in 1878. Hundreds of thousands have passed through those magical gates at Central Park. You’d be crazy if you didn’t do the same at least once.

Nothing like a couple of days at the Gift
A great family weekend. Lots to do for the whole of Easter.
It is abuzz at Easter with so much to do.Friday’s rodeo at Great Western and Gift calling of the card. The Gift is the major focus with Family Day & Ladies day on Saturday. Sunday you just have to go to the Stawell Races which is a huge day, bands, racing, fashions on the field. Monday is Gift final day. Added to that the scenic Grampians and the many wineries and day spas and markets. After all that climbing and walking you just can’t go home until you’ve had an icecream from Halls Gap.
Stawell puts in a major effort to make Easter in Stawell, one that you won’t forget.
