Living in the country, we are lucky to have regular farmers markets in almost every neighbouring town. However, it is Talbot that we look forward to every month and we have never been disappointed with the variety and quality of produce. There is always entertainment, a fantastic atmosphere for families and young love birds like ourselves who enjoy soaking up the community atmosphere whilst munching on yummy treats! A perfect day out!

The Market provides a great insight to the local produce and farming capabilities of the surrounding district. It had a carnival atmosphere providing some entertainment for the public. I found it an enjoyable and worthy morning outing. I hope it can continue for the benefit of the Central Goldfields Shire.

I have been all over Victoria staying at various locations for week-ends and always loved to go to the market days. Of all the markets Talbot market it is by far the best market in Victoria. The farmers side of the market takes in all sorts of wonderful delights including fresh baked breads, olive oils, goats cheeses, christmas puddings, chocolates, a variety of ethnic foods, and wine not to mention the reason you go to a Farmers Market, Vegetables!! Then there’s the Bric-a-Brac section, yet another experience. It’s just the best morning out!

Talbot FARMERS market has all the ambience of a French Provincial market and is set in a beautiful and picturesque little town with a real community spirit. The vendors are mostly local and are very friendly and make you feel welcome in their little town. It is very accessible from Melbourne and other major cities in Victoria and is well worth the scenic drive to get there.

Even with the rain last sunday the market still had an amazing vibe, and although a few stall holders were missing it was great to see the return of the orange people opposite Big Fig Cafe. By the way was very sorry to see that Big Fig was closed lets hope it will only be for a short time as eating there was the highlight of the market. It was a great place to chill out and enjoy a great meal after the hustle bustle of the market. Their food was always fresh and delectable and the atmosphere and service was outstanding.

This is one of the top Regional Markets in Victoria, if not Australia. It’s set in a little country village within easy driving distance of Melbourne, Ballarat and Bendigo and not too far from Geelong. There is wonderful fresh produce, interesting stall and fine foods. The Town Hall Market swells out the Farmers’ Market so there is a wider range of goods for sale. Early birds pick up bargains and there are no parking problems.

Talbot Farmers Market is one of the great successes of the past few years. It have enlivened and enriched our our town. It has in many ways been the most successful and sustaining tourist boosting and socially conecting day for this most charming township. A great deal is owed to the current management and volunteers for their unwaving dedication and vision. It must be remembered that when this market was only an idea, and then the desire to create it, a great deal is due to the foundation managment team, for their extordinary work and care in laying the groudwork for what has allowed this market to be the triumph it is. Talbot is a richer and more interesting and changed place for the better. May Talbot and it’s Farmers Market continue to have many years of enjoyment in this positve direction. The best township market, and food for the soul.

While visiting Family in Bendigo (while on holidays from New Zealand) - on recommendations - we decided to visit the Talbot Farmers Market. On hearing about this promotion we thought that we just had to say how wonderful the Talbot Market is. We have been to many Markets and I recommend this particular one to anyone. Well done to everyone that is connected - from the friendly people who organise this market - to the delightful people that bring their offerings.
On any future visits to Victoria - we will certainly be attending the Talbot Farmers Market.

Apart from the genuine quality of the township location, what ramps up the enjoyment of the experience is the integrity of the stallholders, whose enthusiasm and product knowledge adds intelligence to the excursion. As a stall holder since Talbot Market’s concept, this is a poem I wrote 4 years ago
The van is packed and we’re ready to go
In darkness, no birdsong, street lights down low
The motor purrs as she’s kicked into gear
We’re heading for Talbot, tiny town full of cheer.
We’ve travelled in rain, in wind and in fog
Seen shivering sheep wet cows and a dog
Sun as its rising and peeping thru trees
The call of the magpie and the humming of bees.
And who’s there to greet us, as we arrive in the dawn
Volunteers of the market, who are so warm
Vans soon arrive and they’re blocking the street
Hi, how are you, gidday old friends to meet
Food fills the air and the hum of the crowd
The chatter the laughter some right out loud
The band sets up and strikes up a tune
A few more hours we are here
BUT we’ll back soon
Its well worth the travel to see a market so well organised and so much fun!

What a joy to stumble across such a hidden jem. We first experienced this outstanding farmers market two years ago when exploring the region after moving from Melb, from that point on it was a must do and soon we had friends from Melb begging in advance to stay at our house over the third weekend of each month so that they could also revel in the experience. Such a diverse mix of produce and so authentic.Where else can one experience locally produced fruit and veg but also meet theproducers of everything fom goats cheese, beer, olives, indigenous plants and most exciting the chook fanciers with their rare and wonderful fowl and John the pig man who has his beautifiul black pigglets.
What tops it off for us and anyone we have introduced to the Talbot farmers market is its wonderful environment. Set through the centre of an otherwise sleepy town you soon discover that there is much more to Talbot than at first meets the eye.

Not only did I get all my vetetables and lots of yummy treats and plants and the best price - but I was able to take my dog who is my bestest companion - and I was able to spoil her with well priced dog treats and we both also enjoyed the lovely ginger biscuits. The Town Hall Market swells out the Farmers’ Market so there is a wider range of goods for sale. Early birds pick up bargains and there are no parking problems.
The Talbot farmers Market was an exceptional experience - variety of stalls, wonderful produce, set in an historic township on the site of a street where there was a gold strike - not only htis buut there were and great cafes!

A market in a friendly relaxed country environment with a great variety of produce. The set up makes it a pleasant stroll through a few streets of Talbot. Well worth the drive of a Sunday to unwind from the city mayhem.
Something for everyone - set in a beautiful historic town with a real ‘home spun country atmosphere’. An exciting variety of produce and new things to discover at every turn - topped off by a sumptuous meal at the Quince Farm Cafe.
This market is an absolute delight…great food, the aromas can drive you crazy. The fresh bread and pastries are to die for. Interesting gifts and friendly folk. Visit the market in the morning, select edibles and refreshments then head off to the Paddys Ranges National Park for an afternoon ramble. The before mentioned comments say it all. A truly wonderful sunday experience.

A highlight of my calendar each month for the easy joyful atmosphere of a small town transformed into a celebration of living in provicial victoria. For the locals a chance to share and celebrate the beauty of the town and its people and for the visitor the opportunity to apreciate the richness and diversity of this wonderful part of victoria.

What a great social outing. Friendly people, friendly town. The Committee at the Talbot Farmers Market need to be commended. They run such an enjoyable market. And the stallholders are so friendly and helpful. What a great way to meet the producers of such a wide variety of goods - from live animals like pigs and chooks, to plants, wines, vegies and cakes - and a lot more inbetween. And thanks to the ladies from the church - their cakes and preserves are the best!

Wonderful return to ambient shopping - traffic free - offering of all sorts of produce to suit all budgets. Apart from the genuine quality of the township location, what ramps up the enjoyment of the experience is the integrity of the stallholders, whose enthusiasm and product knowledge adds intelligence to the excursion. There’s a lot more than just shopping at Talbot Farmers Market

Our sleepy little Goldfields town is transformed with the monthly Sunday Farmers Market combining with the long standing Talbot Market. A great friendly atmosphere and a wide range of tempting produce is available Well done and thank you to all the hard working people who continue to combine their talents for this event!
Talbot Market is the best market in regional Victoria - easy to get to, easy to park, very friendly stallholders and volunteers. Only the freshest fruit and vegies and excellent preserves from the Anglican Ladies stall! Congratulations to the Market Committee on running such a successful event.

What a wonderful market. The most lovely volunteers, and great stalls with everything that I needed. Not only did I get all my vetetables and lots of yummy treats and plants and the best price - but I was able to take my dog who is my bestest companion - and I was able to spoil her with well priced dog treats and we both also enjoyed the lovely ginger biscuits. Thanks Talbot people for such a wonderful day outing.
