My partener and i travelled the Bellarine Railway both ways on a sunny winters day mid week. The views and picturesque scenery are a beauty to behold.
Abunded native flura & fauna, rolling hills, green pastures and the wiff of lavender make for a senses overload.

A great attraction for the young and the old. The kids loved it, and it makes for a great family activity when you can go for a ride to Queenscliff and catch the train back. Take a picnic and all in all an inexpensive great day out!

Absolute fun to travel on. Inexpensive way to travel on a steam train-staff are nice, trip scenic along the shores of Swan Bay, and the driver gave an informal comentary along the way. Loved watching the birds nesting and swimming on the bay as we rumbled towards Drysdale.

Can absolutely recommend the 90 minute drive from Melbourne, or a ferry trip across from Sorrento, for a train trip along argueably one of Victorias greatest tourism raiway based assets.

An icon of the Bellarine. The sound of the whistle gives that special ’something’ to the towns along the way. When was the last time you waved at a bus?
    Great fun.

The old trains and scenery are superb, but the volunteers running it are even better - old time, personal service.

Queenscliff is home to one of Australia’s best scenic railways. Without the volunteer-operated Bellarine Railway, The Blues Train would not exist. Every Saturday night October to May, the volunteers of the Bellarine Railway make sure that our guests depart on time and return safely.

Not only would The Blues Train not exist without the Bellarine Railway, there would be no Thomas the Tank Engine for all Victorian kids, no Driver Experiences for all the big kids who have dreamed of driving a steam train, nor would there be a great venue for a wedding or birthday to remember for a lifetime. There is even the simple pleasure of a scenic ride around the shores of the majestic Swan Bay for all to experience and enjoy.

The Bellarine Railway is a premier tourist attraction in our area. We at The Blues Train are eternally grateful that such a well maintained and well loved experience of a by-gone era still operates today. It deserves its place on this list and it definitely deserves to be in the top 10 Things do to in Victoria.

Little kids and big kids all like trains and what better way to sample the real thing than to hop on the Bellerine Peninsula Railway. Heritage rolling stock, great scenery and a very pleasant way to spend an hour or two. Amazing to see the look on little kid’s faces at seeing a real steam train in front of their eyes and for those of us who can well remember the smell and sound of Vic.Railways country trains of years back - bliss!!

As a candidate for a State election my campaign committee held a function on the railway and the response from guests was so complimentary that we judged that night event as the best fund raiser and entertainment of the campaign.
