Victoria’s historic coastal town of Queenscliff is home to the world’s one and only Blues Train. It is a unique experience that combines four of Australia’s best live blues acts and the beautiful scenery of the Bellarine Peninsula on the Drysdale railway line while aboard a real moving vintage steam train. It is one of Australia’s most spectacular entertainment experiences. The Blues Train leaves Queenscliff Railway Station after guests have enjoyed a delicious meal complemented by fine Australian and local wines. The steam train then makes its way along 16 kilometres of track, gently rocking from side to side, seemingly in beat with the music. It’s a music festival in one night and a progressive party you’ll never forget. Suggested by: Desiree.

The blues train is the ultimate experience: yummy food, fantastic music, and the best company you’ll find in Victoria. Not only did the musicians and kitchen staff live up to all the hype I had heard but all the staff on the train, including Hugo himself, ensured that my mates and I had a great time… I’m addicted. The blues train has now become my home away from home.

From the time you arrive to the time you leave the Blues Train is an extraordinary experience. The atmosphere is party party party!
Even if you don’t think you like Blues music - you will change your mind! The acts are of the highest calibre, full of passion and enthusiasm and certainly know how to gain audience participation. They were dancing in the aisles on the seats and in the carriage!
There is a meal included before you leave Queenscliffe, and plenty to drink form the Bar carriage - just right to get you into the party mood!

This most unique experience is the brainchild of Hugo who is a larger than life Host and knows how to gwt the party going!

If I were to give this points out of 10 - it would be 101 points! Victoria- THE place to be!!!!!

I would have to say that The Blues Train is one of the funnest things I have done. Apart from the gentle swaying of the train itself and the great scenery, the way you can get a bunch of musicians, a crowd and a whole lot of dancing in a train carriage is a wonder to behold!
I will go back every year!

The Blues Train is sooooooo much fun, would recommend it to anyone at any age. Something unique about rocking along the Bellarine Railway bobbing away to Blue Music. The atmosphere is purely one of fun. Swapping carriages gives you the opportuntiy to see all those performing in an intimate atmosphere that just makes you want to come back for more. A must do in my books.

I think the Blues Train is a unique experience. To get to the station you travel through some of Victoria’s most beautiful countryside. Then, you experience food, wine, good local blues musicians on a heritage train. The journey the train takes is a visual treat. The whole thing is also good value. What more could you ask of a good day out?

We have world class blues musicians in Australia and the Blues Train showcases many of them, which is great for the punters and great for the artists. It is a unique “venue”, has been running for a long time and we all know that it is harder and harder for musicians to get gigs and for punters to see great music.

The blues train was fun! it’s an experience…something you just don’t do everyday, which makes it even more enjoyable. Some would walk away from it and say hey, that was really good…others , just want to go back for more.
We are going back for more, because we want to have another taste of that experience.
The food was great, the music good for the soul, the train ride a bit of fun and the ambience fantastic.

10 out of 10. We were a group of 12 from Bendigo, and all agreed that it was the best fun we have had at such an event. The organisation was fantastic with so many people being served, fed etc. The meal was great, music was fabulous and all the staff friendly. We danced, sang and drank to our hearts’ content. Have recommended it to everyone.

The views change from dusk to night.
Every one on the carriage seems to be of one mind. To have fun.

Although I have never travelled the Blues Train my son is a regular performer and tells me of the wonderful people he meets. It is a unique Blues /music venue for people who never knew what `Blues’ was about and a unique tourist attraction.

I have been on the Blues Train at least five times over the past few years - and had the BEST time each and every time! How could you not enjoy this charming and fun journey? From the finest Blues Musicians (my favourite Jimi Hocking!), a great concept (four carriages, four bands), yummy food and plenty to drink if you choose (most people find they enjoy a glass or two by the end of the ride!!), and all organised with flare and fun (what more could you expect from the Fabulous Hugo T. Armstrong!!). It is the sort of night where people of all ages and music taste have fun - I have yet to hear anyone say at the end of the night that they didn’t have a great time. So go on - go on the fabulous Blues Train and have the night of your life!!

I had one of THE BEST nights in my short 50 year existence on The Blues Train. The pity is that it doesn’t run over the winter months.
But a word of caution to the uninitiated, make sure you book yourself in overnight in one of the many splendid Queenscliffe accommodations within an easy swagger of the station!

I have been on the Blues Train at Queenscliff several times, and have never been disappointed! As soon as you arrive you are welcomed and there is an atmosphere of fun. Then standing on the platform and look around, you see such a diverse group of people waiting to enjoy the night ahead. The staff are always helpful and seem to be having fun as well. Then there is the actual train ride, and of course the great music. The bands are always good, and there is a mix to suit everyones taste. When the train arrives back at Queenscliff, you want it to turn around and keep going as you are enjoying yourself too much for it to be the end. Then looking at all those same people getting off the train, they are all smiling and happy. Everyone is laughing and talking to people they didn’t know before tonight. So, what more can you ask for. Good food, drink, and music, a fun atmosphere, and then not to forget the train ride!

I found this a fantastic and unusual experience.
Starting with dinner on the station, then going on the train and at each stop being able to buy alcohol (for us a nice bottle of wine), go to the toilet and change carriages to see a different blues performer.
All the performers were fantastic and the train is wonderful.
I have been twice and plan on taking friends later in the year.
We also stayed in Queenscliff for the night which made it a much nicer experience being able to have a drink and a good look at Queencliff the following day.

I have the dream of getting to experience the real thing one day, especially when Jimi Hocking is on, as I so love his music. And to experience the two together …that would be bliss!

A truely unique chance to discover just how great we’ve got it here in Victoria!
A scenic drive to the venue, Hilarious warm-up rave from Hugo T Armstrong, Exciting anticipation whilst buying my first drink and having a delicious bite to eat before boarding a Steam Train to start the thrilling journey to the land of The Blues baby!!!
First carriage - We’re seated and with red wine in one hand and snapping fingers in the other we’re off.
Second carriage - We’re on the edge of our seats, barely able to wait until we hear that whistle blowin’ and hear the next fabulous musical installment!
Third carriage, well what can I say? We left our inhibitions at Drysdale Station and now we’re singing along, toe tapping, knee slappin’ and finding it hard to stay in my seat!
Fourth and final carriage - I’m a dancin’ fool. Can’t remember when staying upright after a few cleansing ales on a swaying moving train carriage was this much fun!!!!
Once that Blues Rythym gets into your soul, you’ll be back on-line to book your next trip!
This great night out is truely a team effort and WHAT A TEAM!

I am an entertainer on the blues train and every week I get to see so many happy faces enjoying a night out unlike any other. It’s age friendly across the board from 18 to 80 and I have had the honour of playing for people enjoying many special occasions but my favorite was a 65th wedding anniversary where the couple danced and showed the young ones a thing or two. It’s such good fun that I try go on the train when I’m not playing to catch the experience from the “other” side. I might be biased but I feel the Blues Train is one of the top 101 things to do in the World!!

I voted for the Blues Train because we had a party of 50 people who went for the weekend in April & had a ball. It’s a weekend I will remember for many years to come. We had so much fun on the train. The musicians were great and got us all up and dancing from the start. Afterwards we walked back to our accommodation & continued to party. Can’t wait to do it again!

A sensational night out. In fact we made a weekend of it. Went diving off Portsea on Saturday and down to Queenscliff for the Blues Train on the Saturday night. My partner and I met so many glorious people, had a boogey in the dance carriage and couldn’t believe the talent of musicians on board. A fantastically organised event in Victoria - a must do. I have now recommended it to my colleagues and we are thinking of having our end of year work break up on the train- what a blast that would be!

I voted for the Blues train because I think that it is a great way to enjoy great music. I was never a big fan of public transport but when you r on the blues train you really do get stuck in the moment. With the four carriages there is a great variety for such a great price! I have been on the Blues train once and it is definately something that I would like to do again. It is a must do for all Victorians and tourists.

I had so much fun from the moment I arrived on the Queenscliff railway platform to enjoy a delicious meal, to boarding a vintage train all the way to Drysdale, with stops in between for toilets and refreshments, to the return journey to Queenscliff. And all the while listening and dancing to great artist playing the blues. I especially enjoyed Jimmy Hocking and Chris Wilson. Thanks again for an unusual and unforgettable experience. I’ll be back, and boarding with more passengers next year. Well done Hugo and keep it on track.

A wise Brother of Blues was once quoted as saying “Do you see the light?! “Yes! Yes! Jesus H. tap-dancing christ… I have seen the light”

It’s not often you can walk away from something and know that’s a night you’ll remember for the rest of your life.

The Blues Train however is one of those experiences…

There’s a certain magic to The Blues Train, whether it stems from the bubbling personality of the proprietor and staff or steaming through 16 miles of picturesque scenery, the sun setting over the majestic Swan Bay and hills of the Bellarine, or the power of 4 of Australia’s best blues musicians sharing their magic on a rockin’ (literally) vintage steam train. Maybe it’s the fact that you’d experience this nowhere else in the world.

The Blues Train shares all of this and more! A big night out for anyone that wants to see what ‘real’ entertainment is all about.

I have seen the light, and I highly recommend you do too!

As a Queenscliffian it’s easy to take the Blues Train for granted but great to see it in the Top 10 list and it deserves to be there. Four carriages featuring four blues acts keep the historic steam train rockin ‘n’ rolling around Swan Bay for a great party while bringing people into the Bellarine regions B&B’s, restaurants and wineries. Tourist attractions like the Blues Train provide tourism opportunities that benefit other businesses and encourage people to the area. “Come to Queenscliff, it’s not just a pretty place you know…”

You know when you like to have a couple of unique local experiences up your sleeve to bring out when you have friends from overseas or interstate visiting. It’s a showing off thing I know but everyone wants to be proud of their home. Well the Blues Train experience is one of those unique experiences, guaranteed to create a ‘wow’ impression and people blown away by the experience. I’ve been 3 times now and the joy is that each time it is different. The stage is the same, steam train, scenery, location etc; but the artists are different with the only constant being the exceptional quality of talent.

The Blues Train experience hits the two big marks for me (and my guests). The people who run it are vibrant and that comes across as fun and enjoyment and it is real value for money. In fact it is ridiculously good value for money.

Great work Blues Train Team and thanks for providing me with a proud experience to share with my guests.

The Blues Train is a fantastic experience. I have been on it 4 times and we now have problems limiting the number of people who want to join our party as we always fill a carriage. We have continued to have a theme attached to the evening and use it as our pre Christmas get together. The music is always fantastic. Reliably great. The bbq has been getting better and better and the drink system has been refined to make it easier to purchase your favourite drink at each stop. Love the atmosphere, Hugo is a star with his great nature. Everybody always wants to come back for more. We’ll be there again. Who knows what our theme will be next time!

A unique Australian experience for all lovers of a good time and great music, no matter what kind of music you love, while promoting the region, its wine, food, locations and performers - mixing them with the very best Australia has on offer. The MC alone is worth the visit - a walking talking billboard for the Bellarine.
Congratulations, I have been on board at least 6 times now - always a fun crowd - and will continue to do so! Highly Recommended.

This is a great night out with sing-a-long entertainment from the start to the finish, very enjoyable meal and drinks onboard and accessible at each stop, this is a one only experience as where else do they have a Blues Train with so much talent on board?.
Then you can stay the night in Queenscliff and make a weekend of it all as we did.

We attended the Blues Train for a friends 40th. The experience was very memorable. It is quite a unique activity and is organised very professionally. The food was excellent and the music just exceptional. I will always value my memories of the Blues Train and recommend it to one and all.

Apart from a fantastic night out, the blues train does a fabulous job of promoting blues music and blues artists in Victoria and deserves its place in this competition.

The Blues Train is a fantastic way to experience Blues at its best. We have nothing like this back home in NZ and I am so glad I finally did this event. The crowd was awesome, changing carriages at the 4 stops was great and the food although basic was very good. I am now a huge fan of Blues Music. Definitely will book again.

A Great Night Out.

The Blues train is one of the most entertaining experiences in Victoria.

The fun of travelling on a historical Steam Train along coastal vistas combined with the entertainment of different blues bands in each carriage with fun loving patrons is an experience that is hard to beat.

Whether your interested in blues music or just want a fun night out I highly recomend the Blues Train.

This is a fantastic Blues music experience on the historic Bellarine Railway steam train, along the shores of Swan Bay - Queenscliff to Drysdale and back.
Along the way fantastic blues and roots music, in each carriage.

The Blue’s train was a great experience. Touring along on a train with fantastic and different Blue’s in each carriage while watching an amazing landscape unfolding was amazing. I have never experienced such a happy and relaxed crowd who all seemed to thoroughly enjoy the outing too.

The Blues Train experience is worthy of any person who enjoys a ‘bit of bop’, & an unusaul & exhilarating Saturday night.

Travel on the historic Bellarine Railway by steam train, along the shores of Swan Bay in Queenscliff through the Bellarine hills to Drysdale and back. Along the way enjoy fantastic blues and roots music, changing carriages at each stop for a new musical experience. A licensed over 18’s event that you will never forget. I have already attended this event three times and can’t wait to do it again!
