A great small group backpacking walk - excellent campsites - especially Ryans Den - with brilliant coastal scenery. We did it as a group of 5 over 5 days, easily breaks into 9 stages for greater time to enjoy and soak up the scenery. - and no expensive outlay.

far better than just driving, walking/camping the new Great Ocean walk; fab camp grounds, loos with a view, and just stunning everyday with something different

This coastal and forest Walk extends from Apollo Bay to Glenample in the Port Campbell National Park. Opened 3 years ago the Walk has quickly become a ‘must do’ with both experienced and inexperienced walkers. Accommodation options include luxury 5 star spa accommodation at Moonlight Retreat on Moonlight Head through to camping in the very well set up camp grounds along the Walk. The walk is best undertaken in the off-season - rather than during Summer when temperatures can be up to 40C. Walkers are likely to encounter Kangaroos, Wallabies, Koalas, Echidnas an amazing variety of bird life together with lizards and the other unmentionable reptile species starting with ‘S’. Take plenty of water, check your tides (Apollo Bay for east of Cape Otway, Port Campbell (Portland) for west of Cape Otway, and enjoy one of the jewels in the crown of the Great Ocean Road.

I also stayed at the Aire Valley Guest House when I completed this incredible walk and think that should be a destination in itself! The Walk was up there with the Milford Track in NZ as a must do! The guest house was beautiful and owned by a children’s writer who rights mad books about dogs. We picked our own vegetables and fruit inc. grapefruit for brekky from the garden. We had candlelight evenings and early mornings in misty Hordern Vale heading out to do what is probably Victoria’s best kept secret, for now at least- The Amazing Great Ocean Walk.

We have been down the Great Ocean Road many times and last time tackled parts of the Great Ocean Walk. The walk takes you along beaches, tops of cliffs, through the Cape Otway National Park, down to Wreck Beach. Fantastic. Saw koalas, wallabies, lizards. You can camp along the trail but we did it the luxury way staying at Aire Valley Guest House. Great log fire, great wine, dinner with home grown veges. Great service. Highly recommended. We will be going back again to finish the parts of the walk we have yet to complete.

Fantastic scenery, top campsites, historic shipwrecks, one of the best extended hikes I’ve been on, on a par with the Prom!
