Wyche Races is fantastic day for people of all ages. There is a great atmosphere, lots of food and is a excellent weekend to catch up with family and friends. The Mt Wycheproof Racing club should be commended on the work put into the venue and oncourse facilities. You should definately experience the Wyche Races, you won’t be dissapointed!

A great day out is enjoyed annually at the Mt Wycheproof Cup. Maybe I do not see many horses run but I do catch up with a lot of friends. Everyone is in a carnival atmosphere and having lots of fun - one day to unwind in a great atmosphere. Congratulations to the Mt Wycheproof and District Racing Club for providing a great day out. See you there in November.

Wyche races have been a great day for as long as I can remember. The day is action packed with entertainment for all ages, and its getting bigger every year. If you havent experienced the Wyche races you really should do yourself a favour and get there in November.

Wycheproof Race Day is a wonderful event for the whole family, and regional Victoria definitely needs events such as this for the socail interaction it provides for people in isolated socio-depressed drought affected areas.

this is one of the few weekends in our year that we look forward to. it is a fantastic day out with friends and family. the town does not have much, but this race meet is certainly worth the 5 hour drive. im yet to have anything other than a brilliant time at the wychee races, and ive been attending for the past 7 years. they only continue to get better!

Congratulations to the Mt Wycheproof Racing Club on the continuing improvement to racing in the country. Catering for young and old and No1 in hospitality. The club has operated for over 100 years and continues to go ahead. I am sure the club is appreciated by Owners, Trainers and Jockeys which helps Racing in general. May the Club continue to race at Wycheproof for ever. The very best to you all. from a past secretary and life member. You can take the boy out of the country, but you cannot take the country out of the boy.

best day in my memory…the races themselves were something to remember but the real highlight was the pub afterwards. My god those westerners know how to put it on.Thouroughly reccommend it to anyone looking for a few laughs and copious amounts of liquid entertainment!

The Wycheproof Races have provided happiness to a lot of people-a great place for people to meet and socialise. It provides enjoyment for people of all ages. When I was a young girl I remember winning some money on the first horse I ever betted on at the Wyche racesThis small country town should be congratulated for giving its town and community such a great event—well done!

Great Family Day out - meet up with old friends, have a relaxing drink - let the kids enjoy the safety of the relaxed country - you will be pleasantly surprised by who you will catch up with. Always a winner- great music and atmosphere as it rolls on into the evening.

I totally agree with all the comments, the Wycheproof Race Meeting is a great day on the social calender, I am not a real race meeting goer, but the Wycheproof Race Meeting is always a good fun day, and we all get together with friends and family, and it certainly makes Wycheproof come alive. The Committee work hard to make it a really successful day, and it seems to be getting better each year.

As someone living in Melbourne in the midst of the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival hype, I can honestly say that Wyche Derby Day is my No. 1 Spring Carnival Racing event. It is definitely the place to be for a great value day of racing, entertainment and friendly country fun!

I have never attended Derby Day in Melbourne, nor will I ever, as the Wyche Races are a “not to be missed’ event every year! Whether you’re a serious punter, or more interested in what the ladies are wearing, there is something for everyone. Plenty of activities for the kids, and a great party all day (and night…) for the adults!

A fantastic event for the whole family where punters can get up close to all the action. The day is also support by an art and craft exhibition and a Race Recovery Market Day on the Sunday adding to the wonderful country atmosphere in this small mallee town. Boy do they know how to put a party on and it wont cost you an arm and a leg.

The reason why this is great is the cost,it’s not expensive. unlike the races in melbourne, by the time you pay at the gate and have a few drinks ( as you do ), your wallet is empty. wyche prices are just right. everyone is friendly and is a great day out for a family, party or just to meet people. will be back this year.

wychie is one of those truly unique racing and social events where the community comes alive and celebrates racing and socialising with good old country hosptality and fun. Even with the harshest of condtions country folk kick up their heels and make sure all those that attend have fun.

The Wycheproof races wins my vote. Its a family friendly day with a jumping castle, face painting and a kids foot race.The adults get to “play dress-ups” with great fashions on the field while having a fabulous time winning or losing on each race, watching the horses race by the fence with champagne or beer in hand. This is such a wonderful event, orchestrated to perfection to bring a great country town to life! No wonder its an award winner!!

All I can say is forget the city races! You truly haven’t experienced Derby Day until you have been to the Wyche. At first, I was like… “Wycheproof!? Where’s that?” Now that I have been there - on Derby Day - I WILL be back! Fantastic, good hearted people who rally together to create a truly enjoyable atmosphere. Something there for evryone and well worth the trip to get there if you are not a local.

It’s a great day at the races in the counrty where you can still enjoy all the excitement of the Derby Day races as well. You just can’t beat the the friendly atmosphere of a country race meet where a small country town comes alive for one of the main events for the year.

Ever since I married and moved to the area we have always attended the “Wyche Races”.first our babies came in their prams ,now they bring their elegant young school friends and we still all share the best picnics with family and friends, some who come especially from the other side of the state!

Derby Day - no thought of a trip to Melbourne for the Derby when we have the Wycheproof Cup! A not-to-be-missed even for gthe last twenty years - at least. We pack our best delicacies, don our country reacing ourfits and prepare to to enjoy one of the great days of the year. Rain, (rarely), hail (never) or shine (almost always) we make the trek, usually bringing new friends to join in the fun. Everyone’s there (even the Year 12s who should be studying for their exams) and the anticipation of a great day is never misplaced. So, roll on Wyche races, we love you!

Derby Day in the country and don’t the folk of Wycheproof celebrate in style. We travelled from Swan Hill for the day in 2007, not far at all, and left in love with this race day. Met a bloke called Fly and another called Thommo who were involved somehow and they really made me welcome and ensured that I would be back in 2008.

A great day out . Not only the community who live or grew up in the Wycheproof District make the special effort to return for the weekend; but the neighbouring towns of Birchip and Charlton whos interest is in trotting events see it as a good alternate from that form of horse racing.

Growing in popularity each year, the Wyche Races is a great day. Popular with locals and ex-pats, it’s a great re-union event. The grapevine is working, and people are busing in from all over the state - all there to have a great social day. The marquees, lawn and bar areas offer something for everyone. And we all love a sticky beak at fashion on the fields.

I agree wholeheartedly with Dawn’s comments. She has summed up the situation in the country very well. Wycheproof, as do other towns, needs something to promote it, a successful event around which ancillary activities can occur. For over a century THE event was the annual local Agricultural and Pastoral Show. Derby Day is that event for Wycheproof.

I love the Wyche Races. There is something for everyone to do, whatever age you are. What makes it even better are the events that the local community organises on the week leading up to the Raceday, and the day after. The unique art and craft show displays the talents of the locals near and far, and you just have to catch one of Tracys phantom calls! It is a magnificent effort for a small rural community.

I was born and bred in Wycheproof. Even when I left, it was always ‘the thing’ to do to go back to ‘Wyche’ for the races. A great way to catch up with friends and family that you hadn’t seen for years!!!!

I voted for the Wycheproof Races because it really lifts the spirit of the local community. Wycheproof has been in severe drought conditions for many years and this event is so important to the local businesses and to the general community. The farmers and all locals can enjoy the company of family and friends that this event attracts. This rural community needs to have this great event to forget the hardships which the climate has created.
