One of the best tours we did in Australia - it was both fun and educational at the same time and how many tours can say that!

Simon our tour guide was excellent and taught us how to smell/taste wines and I know know which types I do/don’t like.

The lunch at Rochford was excellent and the views stunning but nothing to compare it to the views from the final winery - Chandon.

The Yarra Valley’s proximity to Melbourne and the beauty of the area along with the world class wineries make it an exceptional place to visit.

A beautiful region to drive through with wineries producing some of the best Australian wine. We make this trip every year to stock up our cellar.

The drive out to the Yarra Valley from the city is beautiful and nothing can be better than eating lunch made from local produce and drinking wine from the region while looking out at the rolling hills.

The Yarra Valley is a wonderful place to visit, especially as it is so close to Melbourne. Unfortunately, its popularity causes congestions on the roads around the wineries. However, the wineries not only offer some of the best wines in the world, they also cater for families (play grounds and activities). It is good to see that it has not been completely commercialised by global entities (let’s hope it can stay that way).

The best place to Visit in The Yarra Valley is “Domaine Chandon”, the resturant has fantastic food with a grat view of the vines , while you are there you can taste diffrent wines & bubbly, or go for a tour around the winery and find out how they make their wine & bubbly.

Having been to both Tuscany (Italy) and Provence (France) I can say that the Yarra Valley (and indeed the Mornington Peninsula) compares favourably and is just as beautiful. Indeed, unlike some European wineries, we don’t have to pay for the privelege of tasting their offerings!!

During Autumn I took my sisters and nieces to the Yarra Valley. It was a clear, cool, but sunny day and the scenery was first rate. The autumn colours displayed around the countryside and in the vineyards themselves created such a peaceful atmosphere which we were able to absorb. The presentation at the wineries (food, wine, decor, staff, ambience etc) made for a stunning day out and left us wanting for more.

So close to Melbourne and so lovely. Soak up the atmosphere, the quiet stillness and smell of country air. The world class wines available to taste and matched with foods are a treat for wine snobs and those that like a tipple alike. We have enjoyed this every time we have been and will no doubt go again.

The Yarra Valley wineries are a great experience to Tour and visit and they also have excellent wines to taste. The region is close to Melbourne so it is not far to have to travel to enjoy. The Surrounding area is very picturesque and spectacular in its Autumn Colours and well worth a visit any time of year. A great place for a Picnic or dropping into one of the local Restaurants.

Yarra valley wineries always offer a great relaxing day out, particularly as part of the A day on the green concert series. One of my best memories of a time in Melbourne is from a few years back, a full day in the Yarra Valley and a concert by Jewel at night.

The Yarra Valley so close to your back door, so wonderful to explore, but take the time to investigate and discover the wineries tucked away down the end of a dirt road, that the tourist buses dont go to and the masses dont visit. Find you own new favourite restuarant that serves wonderful wines has great food topped with a wonderful ambience and service with a smile. Youll never look back when you realise the little uncommercial winery is your new favouruite…………..until you discover a new one on your next visit!!! :)

it’s a short drive for a big change in lifestyle, scenery and great for relaxation. the roads to each winery and clearly marked and suggested tours are listed on webpages which make your day/s easier to arrange. and nothing beats the taste of the white wines and the selection of cheeses after a drive from the towm.

One of the many real pleasures in the Yarra Valley is visiting the cellar doors of the many family run smaller wineries and meeting their “passionate about wine” owners.

After a lovely drive from the Riverina district of NSW we came upon De Bortoli’s and this was the beginning of a tasteful and envigorating few days in the Yarra Valley. I still receive cellar door newsletters from some wineries where we lingered longer at. The views from many cellar doors was as impressive as their fare. Another visit is required to see what was missed or to revisit what was remembered.

Fabulous self guided day trip with international guests. Lots of laughs, an incredible lunch, free behind the scenes tours, and a number of wine, port and cheese tasters. The favourite drops made great souvenirs and presents to take home as a memory of the day.

I live in ELtham on the edge of the Yarra Valley and continually entertain guests from overseas in the Yarra Valley who are blown away by the beauty of the valley itself(even in times of drought and winter when the vines are bare) and then they get surprized by the magnificent wines(especially in the smaller wineries), quality food and excellent service they receive across the valley. One of Melbourne’s and Victoria’s best kept secrets.

You would be amazed at how many of these awesome vine yards/ wineries have been the back grounds for weddings that I have conducted as a Celebrant

I love each and every one for the views, the wonderful and help ful staff, the great wines, wonderful cheeses…

If you can’t go to the beach then come to the Yarra valley. You will not regret it

Travel only 1 hour from Melbourne CBD and the countryside opens up into the beautiful Yarra Valley. The multi coloured patchwork quilt of autumn colors is just amazing. A day is just not long enough to enjoy the riches of this area. There are so many wineries that offer plenty of opportunities to try a variety of wine styles all grown within spitting distance of their cellar doors. Take a designated driver to really enjoy the whole experience.

Driving down the Yarra Valley highway is like stepping into another world. Mountains in the distance form the backdrop, vast vineyard spaces as far as the eye can see with ever changing leafage, fluffy clouds, hot-air balloons hanging in space, beautiful aromas drifting from the winery restaurants. The perfect revitalising escape.

The Yarra Valley is the perfect place to get away to on the weekend. It is close to home yet when we are there the city feels a million miles away. It is the perfect mix of cosmopolitan style yet country living which gives us visitors a perfect relaxed break away. The food, the people, the sceanery and in particular the wine are all first class experiences - and not one to be missed. Highly reccommend any one to make a trip out there.

There is nothing more ‘Melbourne’ then heading into the Yarra Valley to go and visit some cellar doors and taste some of the best wine in Australia! My favourite wineries would be De Bortoli, Yering Station and Domain Chandon, but there are also plenty of other small wineries that are beautiful too! Make a day of it and have lunch there and finish up with some cheese and biscuits while watching the sun go down over the grape vines! Perfect!
