barcaldine country house

B&B in Musk, just outside Daylesford Vic which provides luxury stays. Rooms are excellent and owners really look after guests. Winery on-site and food is magnificent. Attractions in the area include a cidery and a smallgoods outlet in addition to the other Daylesford attractions.

Whether you are after a cosy weekend lunch in the cellar door complemented with one of the regions best wines or an indulgent weekend away, Barcladine House is the perfect place.

Frank and Rose are the best hosts in the world, and Rosemary’s Osso Bucco is to die for.

We will definitely be back to spend more time at this lovely property.

Frank and Rose are great hosts and really make you feel like family. It’s very tempting to go back time and again and again! Enjoyed the strolls around the gardens, vineyard, lake and especially the wine cellar. A great base to enjoy the local attractions such as Trentham golf club and the Daylesford eateries as we did when we spoiled ourselves to a luxurious weekend away. We’ll be back!

Absolutely love the place, feels like home. Frank and Rose make you feel like a member of their family, warm, welcoming and always pleased to see you. As for the food – memorable for all the right reasons. Generous and delicious, what more could one ask for?
Recommend to anyone looking for comfort, space (if required), generosity of spirit, warmth and laughter.
And, just the right distance from town.
p.s. the wine is definitely worth a taste or two (bottles, that is)!!

Barcaldine House is a true indulgence in comfort! Located in a picturesque spot of Daylesford, surrounded by an immaculately kept garden – reminiscent of “The Secret Garden” story tale; with charming hosts Frank and Rosa to welcome you like an old friend! I have recently booked my 3rd stay there within 2yrs and intend to keep going back whenever I visit Daylesford with my family! You must stay in one night and try Rosa’s amazing authentic Italian dinners and wake up to her scrumptious breakfasts! A true winner!

An absolutely magic country house owned and managed by the charming Frank and Rose Maree La Rosa. Situated in the picturesque Daylesford it is a truly magic experience! You can indulge in a home cooked breakfast – truly scrumptious! – and – if you want to stay in at night, you can enjoy a glorious dinner prepared by Rose Marie. My sister, mother and I will be repeating our experience again in October – and we can’t wait!!!!

A perfect weekend away in gorgeous Musk. Rose and Frank went out of their way to advise on great local places to eat, drink and get a massage, made dinner reservations for us and made sure we were well looked after where ever we ventured in Daylesford and surrounds. Fabulous hosts made the gorgeous accommodation and scenery even more spectacular!

For my 50th Birthday Kel & I stayed at Barcaldine for a wonderful weekend of luxury. Rosemarie cooked up a storm in the cellar/restaurant for the guests that attended my birthday celebrations and the “Beef and Red Wine” pies were supurb!! Frank & Rosemaries hospitality is second to none, they are a caring, friendly, approachable and down to earth couple, who enjoy the enviable position of living in one of the most beautiful & visually stunning homes in the Daylesford area. Our room was thoughtfully & tastefully presented, reminiscent of an elegant bygone era and the claw bath was very relaxing. Thoroughly enjoyed sitiing at the kitchen table each morning chatting to Frank & Rosemarie while tucking into a delicious & hearty cooked breakfast (nice to be spoilt once in a while!!) and strolling around the vineyard and gardens was also a truly relaxing and memorable part of our stay with the rolling green hills providing a wonderful back drop. It was certainly a privilege to stay at Barcaldine, with heartfelt thanks to our hosts Frank and Rosemarie for the wonderful memories of my 50th Birthday!! A truly gracious Bed and Breakfast which we heartily recommend.

Frank and Rosemarie are the perfect hosts. The grounds are just beautiful, stunning views and I will definately be back for more of the smooth Cabernet Merlot – not to mention Rosemarie’s famous meat pie! Thanks guys.

A lovely building with big central open fire, set in a winery with hilltop views. Rosemarie is an excellent cook (and runs cooking classes), and Rosemarie and Frank are great hosts – friendly and attentive, and good people. Guest rooms are beautifully and comfortably appointd, and limited to a few, making it a personal and intimate holiday. Functions can also be catered for, in the cellar, opening out onto gardens and the winery. You might be lucky enough to experience the fairytale snow scene in the winter. Thoroughly recommended!

Rosemarie and Frank are great hosts, so welcoming and interesting and we spent a lot of time talking , eating and drinking their great wines..
