We had a great time at Bridgadoon cottages. Rod was efficient, warm and friendly and the setting was lovely. We were impressed by the attention to detail and the little extra things Rod and Margot provided that make the stay very pleasant. The weekly treats in the fridge, the fire ready to go and plenty of choices for breakfast. My husband travels overseas one week in every four and he was grateful to be in an environment that was genuinely warm and efficient.

Wht do l vote for Brigadoon Cottages?
To start with Rob and margo are very special people, they make you so welcome and are very friendly and would go out of their way to make sure your stay is enjoyable and relaxing. The cottages are different and are very cosy, comfortable, fresh and clean, from the wood fires to the attic bedrooms, they are set in the most lovely gardens which are always looked after and adds to the country cottage atmosphere. There are plenty of wild life to enjoy as well. It is well secluced and quiet which makes you forget about the hustle and bustle of life while you stay here.

I live quite close to Brigadoon Cottages. Some friends of mine from Ballarat were staying there for a weekend. They invited me for a cuppa, and I spent a few hours with them. I was most impressed with the beautiful surroundings- so peaceful and tranquil. The cottages had an ‘old world’ feel to them, but with all the modern amenities. I would not hesitate to recommend Brigadoon to anyone wanting to visit the area and stay in accommodation which is so unique.

Brigadoon Cottages are like home away from home. It is close to town but you have the solitude and peace of the country living. The cottages are beautifully appointed and maintanined. The surrounding property and gardens makes for a very relaxing sojourn.

Brigaddon Cottages are set in well laid out and attractive gardens just off the Princes Highway at Newborough, and is easy to reach for visitors coming from Melbourne or interstate who want to visit the coast , snowfields or the historical goldfields.
The welcome visitors receive from Margot and Rod is like being invited into their own home. They cannot do enough for you to ensure that your stay is as relaxing and pleasent as possible – an experience that you will want to come back for time and time again.

What a great place to stay, so close to Melbourne, but a world away.
We had 3 cottages for 3 couples and had such a good time despite the weather.
The cottages are lovely and the hosts are wonderful and go out of their way to make sure everything is perfect.
    We’ll be back for sure.
    Thanks Margot and Rod.

Beautifully appointed cottages, and splendidly welcoming hosts in a lovely setting. What more could you want for a weekend away from it all. Stay for the ambiance, or explore countless attractions of West Gippsland, what a great set of choices.

This gorgeous setting (recommended to us by friends) is a relaxing place to unwind. Although we only live 25kms away and the town is only just down the road, you feel like you are in a wonderous quiet isolated getaway. Rod and Margot are the excellent hosts, and treat you so warmly on arrival and during your stay. They had the ability to give you your privacy and let you be, but they almost had a 6th sense that when you needed them, they were right there.
A lovely spot, not far from home, which suits us just great.

Margot and Rod are always welcoming, warm and friendly. They make you feel like friends, not guests. They’re always there to greet you and show you around, give you a few tips on local attractions (of which there are many in Gippsland) and make your time with them truly special.

Of all the places we have stayed at during our travels there are none that compare with Brigadoon Cottages.
Brigadoon is our magical get away that we return to every year. We get very excited driving up Haunted Hill Road, through the gate and over the bridge. Once over the bridge all our worries fade away and we are surrounded by a tranquil landscape with just the sound of the birds, heavenly. Rod and Margot are wonderful hosts who make the cottages feel like home. There’s always plenty of firewood, chocolates in a bowl and a warm friendly smile to greet you. Oh and the beds are soooo comfy. It is always very sad the morning we have to leave.
A truly magical place, perfectly situated for a quiet weekend or as a base for the many wonderful adventures Gippsland has to offer.

Stayed there as a child with my parents and thought it was fantastic. Rod and Margo were brilliant hosts and the accomodation was fantastic. A great base to explore the area. Have always planned to go back to Australia and I will definitely be visiting Brigadoon.

Ooops – July 1986 in the previous comment should read ’2006′ – doesn’t matter, the sentiment is still the same!!! I wish I had been staying here all that time….

According to their guest comments book, in July 1986 I wrote “Our experience in this industry (as managers of a holiday apartment complex in Qld) has shown us how hard it is to maintain a standard as high as it is here! Spotlessly clean with beautiful surrounds, it has been delightful place to stay. Margot & Rod, your hospitality has been outstanding, exceeding our expectations – thank you”.
Since that first occasion, we have stayed at Brigadoon on numerous occasions. We are staying at Brigadoon again at the moment and leave tomorrow – I would stay another month if I could!
Margot and Rod’s friendly, polite, discreet yet complete attention to our requirements would make this a great place to stay if the amenities and ambience were just average, but they are far above that – we love coming here and we will return again!

Our family first stayed at Brigadoon in 1997. We had a wonderful time there and were made to feel so welcome by Rod and Margo. Brigadoon has superb cottages in such a lovely, peaceful setting. When my husband and I revisited Australia in 2005 we just had to go back. We had a marvellous week there and hopefully that won’t have been our last visit. I would recommend it to anyone.

I stayed at the Brigadoon Cottages whilst on a business trip.
Living myself in a rural area, I found the cottages to be a sense of home in the clean, modern and well appointed surroundings.
My hosts Rod & Margo were most helpful without being intrusive and I have had no reluctance in recommending to my friends and associates to stay at the Cottages whether on business or holiday.

My stay at Brigadoon was like a fairy tell. The cottage was lovely, but when I looked out of the window it took my breath away. There were beautiful flowers in bloom & a flock of brightly colored parrots all around. Hosts spare nothing. The cottages are quaint & quiet & the perfect place for rest & relaxation. When you get through with your relaxation, there are beautiful walks on the grounds and secret places to pick blackberries. Hosts made us feel so much at home. I didn’t know my way around or the shopping areas & Margot took a day off & made sure I knew the shopping areas & my way around town. One night Margot & Rod bar-b-qued for us & I had my first taste of Kangaroo & boy are hosts good cooks. They made us feel so special. Our time finally came to leave the brigadoons & say our good-byes, but not before Margot could send me away with sweet momentos that I will treasure. I will never forget the wonderful time I spent at the Brigadoons or the two very special friends that I made that year. I will treasure memories I have of the Brigadoons forever.

Like the Brigadoon of the movies it is an enchanting hideaway, but, unlike the movie, and thank goodness, it doesn’t only appear once every one hundred years.
A beautiful restful and relaxing setting with very friendly and helpful hosts in Margot and Rod.

In London, reading the long list of personal commendations of the outstanding achievements of Rod and Margot at Brigadoon Cottages makes us feel we would like to take a taxi to Heathrow & return again tomorrow. We have stayed many times at Brigadoon in our travels in Australia & we have greatly enjoyed every visit. We have arranged our travels around the possibility of staying with Margot & Rod because they offer what every discerning tourist wants – personal & attentive service, comfort & the highest possible professional standards at an amazingly reasonable price. Brigadoon has the best of what Australia offers – genuine thoughtful management, a bushland setting that is is truly Australian, immaculate attention to detail and real warmth from consummate hosts. We can say that there are very few places anywhere in the world that offer such quality. It’s genuine, it’s truly Australian & it is situated in the historic Haunted Hills area of Gippsland.

In our view Brigadoon is one of the very best places to stay in Australia.

Nestled in a beautiful bushland setting in a lovely part of Gippsland it is testimony to their hard work, dedication and attention to detail that has created the restlful and relaxing atmosphere that their guests appreciate and love.

Brigadoon is the ultimate indulgence. In a tranquil bush/garden setting, hosts Margot and Rod provide a warm hospitable welcome. Despite only being 15 minutes from our home, we have returned to Brigadoon many times over a number of years. The cottages provide a comfortable and homely escape, where you can relax and unwind, with small details such as homemade jam, fresh flowers and welcoming fire making us feel like family.

We had a lovely stay at Brigadoon a few years ago. I was not well at the time and Margot could not have been nicer and really looked after me. I felt that I had known her forever. We had the old cottage when we stayed and everything was just perfect. I believe it is used for receptions now as well as honeymooners

We chanced upon Brigadoon one Christmas eve, and loved spending Christmas day in the beautiful gardens and the forest nearby. Margot and Rod are wonderful hosts, and the attention to detail (right down to tablecloths with no creases or folds!) was impressive. The chalet was very comfortable, but what we valued most was the inclusiveness the place exudes

Recently we spent a weekend at Brigadoon. It was not our first time, but this time we came with two other couples – friends of ours. It was a very enjoyable stay. Each couple in their own spotless cottage. Somebody had obviously gone to a great deal of trouble to ensure every detail was perfect, from the sweets and bowl of fruit, to the very comfortable bed, and scrumptious breakfast. We went for walks, enjoying the bird life; explored the countryside in our 4WD; and had a BBQ on a very windy day. However, the BBQ facilities are so well sheltered, it didn’t bother us a bit. We felt pampered by the attention our hosts, Margot and Rod, lavished on us. We will be back!

I had two 6 month stays with Rod and Marg at Brigadoon.
It was nice to come in from work to find the fire lit, the background music playing, a fresh afternoon tea set out, all I had to boil the kettle.
After the watching the news I would head off to the house or the BBQ for a fine meal, wine and conversation with my hosts and other guests. Rod is an excellent cook and I have retained many of his recipies.
The cottages are first class providing quiet, very comfortable and cosy accomodation. A welcoming and relaxing place to be.

The most serene and pumpering place we have ever visited. Very romantic set-up, with warm open fire place and even warmer welcome from the hosts Margot and Rod. The magnificent bedroom upstarirs I wish I would have in my home and blissfull view while dining makes the “Brigadoon Cottages” a place like from fairly tale. Perfect for getting away for two – and you can even share a spa in a bathroom! Very highly recommended!!!
Oh, and there is a “Red Dwarf” to watch if you ask your hosts for DVD’s.

We unfailingly use the services of Rod and Margot at Brigadoon and have always had glowing feedback from our guests. Many have returned to stay privately at Brigadoon-some from overseas. Rod and Margot’s charm and unobtrusive hosting coupled with immaculately presented first-class accommodation leaves our visitors in awe. From a business perspective it is particularly valuable to be able to have our important overseas guests so competently and enthusiastically accommodated in an environment redolent of true Australian hospitality.

I have stayed at Brigadoon on a number of occassions and have always been made to feel very welcome. Most of my stays have been for around four weeks and the homely environment, combined with Rod and Margot’s hospitality makes it a home away from home. I would recommend Brigadoon for either long term stays or just a quiet couple of days away.

Stayed in Brigadoon on my first and only trip to Australia, but hopefully not my last.
The hospitality i experienced from Rod and Magot reminded me of the very best of Irish hospitality preceltic tiger days genuine, authentic and great attention to detail. Nothing was ever too much trouble and their attitute and interaction with their guests was always uplifting and positive. The place itself is a little oasis of peace and tranquility and showcases all of what Australia has to offer once outside the cities. To top it all of it is very well priced which is an extra bonus in todays climate. Would highly recommend it to all age groups as it has a little of every thing for everyone.

My wife and I had the great pleasure to stay at Brigadoon for the first 2 months of our 7month stay in Oz. We are from the United States and were dealt a very gracious and pleasant helping of Auzzie hospitality by Rod and Margo. Even after we left Brigadoon to live in a rented house, we remained friends with Rod and Margo and now that we are back home, we still keep up with them on a regular basis. Rod and Margo provided a great place to stay, a friendly and helpful atmosphere, and went well beyond the call of duty in making our stay at Brigadoon one that we will remember for the rest of our lives. If we ever get a chance to return to Oz, we will certainly arrange to spend a few night with Rod and Margo at Brigadoon.

Having been to Brigadoon Cottages a number of times and loved the setting and hospitably of our hosts I wanted to celebrate my 60th Birthday there. Hosts Rod & Margot looked after us with that little bit extra to make sure that everything ran smoothly and nothing was overlooked. The natural bushland surrounding the cottages gives you a sense peace and serenity. Our guests commented on the breakfast supplied, saying it was up with the best that they had had. The BBQ shed was also a huge success as we could all eat together even though it rained. We have now been there five times and being the sort of people who that dont usually go back to a place more than twice, theres something about Brigadoon thats just keeps calling you back. Hosts Rod and Margo are the best in the business. Our team of 3, stayed at the cottages for a total of 4 weeks (Monday to Friday) and we loved it. As we were working in Morwell, Brigadoon cottages was the ideal place for us to relax after a hard days work. The hospitality and tranquil surroundings make Brigadoon the most sort after place to stay in the Latrobe Valley. We had a wonderful stay here. I had to work nearby and left my partner and one year old to relax and play in the autumn leaves. A rejuvenating venue,

I stayed in Brigadoon for half a year and had a great time there. In summer, you can see the beautiful flowers blossoming, surrounding the cottage. You can sip a cup of coffee, enjoy reading book in the garden. In winter, the nice host (have to emphasize, really kind couple) will organise barbeque for you. You can see koala, wallaby and blue tongue lizard if you are lucky enough. Have to mention there are 2 lovely puppies who will greet you when you come back.

A truly wonderful getaway! Margo and Rod were exceptional hosts. I stayed, with two friends for two glorious nights. We were greeted warmly and shown to a beautiful, rustic cottage, warmed by a lovely fire. The continental breakfast was absolutely Delicious. I will be going back again and again, and have alraedy recommended this beautiful place to friends. Well done Margot and Rod!

Brigadoon is the best holiday place there is. I was there with my family in 97/98 and have the best memories of fishing, barbecues, soft beds, friendly faces. I live in South Africa and will definately be going back as soon as I can. Rod and Margot deserve this prestigous award.

Our favourite place to stay. We stayed for the first time almost 10 years ago, and loved it so much we went back and got married at Brigadoon. We go back every year for our anniversary and have also celebrated a 40th birthday there. It’s the perfect getaway – a secluded, picturesque setting and gorgeous cottages with all the creature comforts. Rod and Margot are wonderful hosts and extremely knowledgeable about the area and local attractions.

Everything about Brigadoon is special, from the location and storybook feel of the accommodation, set in the most beautiful and peaceful bushlands, to the attention to detail and quality of the facilties and service. The icing on the cake is the amazing warm and generous hospitality of Margot and Rod – a fabulous place to stay!

I checked in to Brigadoon for a corporate booking in January 2008. It is now September 2009 and this has become my second home (I stay Sunday to Friday then back to Melbourne) with hosts, Rod and Margot, so friendly and accommodating.
It is the attention to detail in the gardens and landscaping, and the charming decorative touches, courtesy of Margot, in the cottages that places Brigadoon head and shoulders above the rest.
I am dreading the day my assignment at Yallourn finishes and I have to return to Melbourne.

Brigadoon was always my little haven when I stayed there when visiting from Ireland to see my sick dad. It was so peaceful , and a real little piece of Australiana. Rod and Margot are so welcoming and give one hundred percent to their guests. They are great examples of the best of austrlalian hospitality and deserve to be recognised for their efforts.

This is a paradise. I really don’t want to come back to reality from this fantastic place..
    The BBQ…the red wine…wooden fire…
    Fruit picking…
The blackberry…Cynthia (my wife) still talking about Margot teaches her to make Jam…
The milky way… CoCo ( my daughter) laying on the grass to watch the stars…
The bunch of lavender…which is still on my desk…

But the most unforgettable memory is the hospitality form Margot and Rod

I have been to Brigadoon many times and continue to return there. It is a place of peace, tranquility and a perfect getaway. The accommodation is cosy and inviting….. love the spa…. and to wander the grounds or sit and read and enjoy the beautiful gardens on a sunny day is sooo relaxing. Or, if the weather happens to be a tad wet, to sit indoors and enjoy the warmth of the fire, with a glass of wine is warming to the soul. Margot and Rod are the perfect hosts.

Brigadoon Cottages is my favourite getaway…. truly magical. Earlier this year we visited on a long weekend. I remember driving into the property feeling tired & jaded, but after just 2 nights at the idyllic property, I felt refreshed in mind, body and spirit. The beautiful gardens, wonderfully cosy & fully equipped cottages, well manintained gardens and caring hosts makes Brigadoon an ideal place to stay. What I liked most about our previous stays, is that we always felt like we were the only ones around, even though there are a few cottages on the property.
    Well done Rod & Margot.

Even if it were only the setting and the quality of accommodation this site is worth a commendation. However when you add to that the ever so welcoming and friendly nature of our hosts Margot and Rod you have a combination that is irresistable. If your journeying takes you through the Valley do not miss out on this most satisfying experience.

I took my elderly mother to Brigadoon for a special birthday. She was not feeling that well but after we arrived she seemed to brighten up and later told me it was the best weekend away she had had in years. Margot and Rod are wonderful hosts – I can’t think of one negative comment. I am dying to go back when I have a spare weekend!

It is such a charming place to stay with the most comfortable bed ever. I have stayed there twice already and would be delighted to go back. Each time I have stayed in a different cottage and they are kept impeccably clean. You are warmly welcomed with a lovely fireplace and soft background music and it is in such an idyllic setting. The hosts are fantastic too!

Was in area for business purposes and returning to the cottage at the end of the day was so relaxing. Waking in the morning to the muted Aussie bush sounds and fresh air further enhanced one’s feelings of wellbeing. Stayed several days but it was too short. Nothing was too much trouble for the wonderful hosts who make you feel most welcom.
If you want to get away from it all – in total comfort – go for it.

We were very fortunate to have discovered Brigadoon Cottages. Every visit has been a special one and catching up with Rod and Margot is like catching up with old friends. The property is like a beautiful park and a good walk “around” is mandatory each stay. The cottages are all very homely and comfortable. It’s a great place to spend time any season of the year.

We sent my mum and dad here for a couple of nights for their 40th Wedding Anniversary. They are more your ‘grey nomads in a caravan’ types…so this was a real treat for them! Dad loved wandering around the grounds and mum loved the special details in the cottage. Two years down the track they still rave about it.

The cottage was wonderful and seemed like a dream. my son loved the vast land and we enjoyed alot there. The big tree looked very aminous and suited perfectly with the address of the place. Loved it to bits. See you again soon.
