Stayed there grand final weekend, the room was larger than usual, step down livingroom, spa bath over looked the living room and bay with a balcony. Clean and modern apartment and it even looked down the main street.

    Would go there again

The Cumberland Lorne Resort is an ideal place for business and pleasure. I’ve been to several conferences held at Cumberland Lorne Resort and been delighted with the facilities at the resort and the features that can be used for personal use. Located on the Great Ocean Road where the natural landmarks of Victoria’s fantastic tourist attractions are located. Always pleased to return to Cumberland Lorne Resort.

Driving from the Mornington Peninsula we go over on the Sorrento – Queenscliffe ferry so getting there is an adventure then the drive along the Great Ocean Rd is breathtaking. Once we get to Lorne there is heaps to do whether its sightseeing eating out or just enjoying the resort. We love the pool because it can be used all year around and the room we stayed in had a spa so a complete weekend away. a perfect place for our family because we are all catered for, the hardest choices are what to do first.

This is my idea of a resort. The Cumberland is more than a place to stay – it is a place for holiday. Not only is the Cumberland a great place to stay but having it located in Lorne make it even more enjoyable. Lorne is a true holiday town with enough shopping, entertainment and dining to meet the needs of just about everyone. I love how I can easily drive to the Cumberland from Melbourne and then not have to get in my car again until I return home – everything at the Cumberland and Lorne is in walking distance!

Interesting that Cumberland Lorne is top of those listed; but I can’t go past it for the most ideal place to stay. Apart from enjoying a panoramic view of the beach from my apartment (not every unit has the same view) I felt thoroughly invigorated after regular walks along the beach, strolling over fascinating rock formations and soaking in the refreshing surf and sights of the waves cascading over the rocks. Relaxing walks to nearby waterfalls added more variety to a delightful stay. Fortunately there was only one day of rain in the whole week I was there.

The views, proximity to beach and shops, superior amenities and reasonable rates all conbine to provide a fantastic family retreat! As the kids grew, it was still appropriate as teenagers love Lorne and all it has to offer.

Once you arrive here you will have the beach within walking distance and all the amenities of a 5 star hotel. Indoor swimming, bbq, a games room, tennis courts, fantastic restaruant and so much more on site. I highly reccomend going for a drive along the coast as you will see the most beautiful lorikeets and cuddly koalas. Enjoy!

Many years ago I often visited Lorne, walked along the beach all the way to Cathedral Rock from Lorne, talked to the fishermen on the pier and bought their Crayfish for nearly nothing.
I watched the Cumberland being built, and often thought then, about being able to stay there.
Victoria is one of the most beautiful places in the world, and the “West Coast” is up there, Johanna Beach Portland and watching the whales come close to the shore at Cathedral Rock is one of the most beautiful things that I have ever seen.
I would recommend anyone who can, to go and visit.

Lorne is my favourite seaside place, a luxury, but so pretty and it has a little of the city too with all the shops and cafe’s and movie theatre! And of course the cumberland is right in the heart of all that. I have only stayed once, but I hope to do it again- when the kids are a bit older!

After a spectacular drive down to Lorne its a pleasure to drive into the Cumberlan Lorne Resort. With great facilties (including a pool and squash courts), quality rooms and a terrific location right in the heart of Lorne. It has that intangible feeling of relaxation and warmth complimented by the surf beach across the road. What more could you want in a holiday?

My favourite time to visit Lorne is in the middle of winter when there are few tourists around. One can rug up and wander along the beach listening to the sounds of the sea, then at night tired out from fresh air and activity be lulled off to sleep to the same sea sounds. What could be a more perfect place to stay in Lorne than the Cumberland!

Lorne is a great place. It’s not too far from Melbourne yet a complete change. It’s proximity to forests and walks, and the sea makes it an ideal place to visit. If you don’t want to do too much then there are also great restaurants and eaterys to try locally. It’s perfect for lots of reasons. We keep returning to the Cumberland because it has well appointed, comfortable accomodation. Ideal for long or short stays.

With a teenage son & young daughter Cumberland Lorne suited us perfetcly. The indoor pool was my daughter’s favourite whilst I could challenge my son to tennis or sqaush. Lorne is the most picturesque in and on the Great Ocean Road. One almost has to stop there regardless of how far one intends to travel on the Great Road Road. It has it all. Sandy beaches, rocky beaches, shops, surf, summer festivals. The Location of this hotel/resort is ideal as it looks like it is just about at the end of Lorne, but yet is not. Pool, spa, Games room, restaurant, good wine list, never away from the best views of the ocean. What could one ask for more.
