What a fantastic venue!, the accomodation is comfortable, the staff are warm, friendly and helpful and the meals in the bistro are fantastic!
This is complimented with an excellent wine list! (and in the cooler months, an open fireplace with a roaring fire!)
The staff go out of their to help!
Do you require a take away picnic lunch while you enjoy a drive to the Thompson Dam or explore the township of Walhalla? they will provide it!
Do you require local knowledge to explore the area, the staff at Rawson Village can supply it!
Only 2.5 hours from Melbourne, but what a venue!

On Sept 7th/8th the Dept of Sustainability and Environment conducted an advanced Tanker Operators course in preparation for the coming fire season. On Oct 5th/6th a second course was held, Again it was a pleasure attending Rawson Village, The quality of the facility is evident to the eye, A glance at the ceiling in the dining room shows the type of professionals that would have been employed in the original construction phase, This quality is mirrored by the facility today and only enhanced by the food and staff. Thank You All

Very comfortable. Great service in the restaurant. They gave us dinner on a Sunday night, even though we were the only people staying there that night! Food was delightful.

Ideal base for exploring Walhalla, and an easy trip back to Melbourne.

Great location for early morning walks and a wonderful venue for a scrapbooking weekend, staff could not have been more helpful, food outstanding (the best roast lamb & gravy ever in a commercial venue – & I’m a gravy addict!).
    Will be returning next year.

For four years now I have been taking a group of 50 ladies up for a scrapbooking weekend.
The staff make sure the booking process is a breeze and accommodate our every whim – and with a smile.
We love the relaxed atmosphere. Everything is there that we need, plenty of space, clean warm rooms, great meals – never go hungry and situated in a beautiful part of our country.
A weekend away feels like you have been away for a week!

20 motel units, some lodges. It is an excellent place and location to stay. Wonderful cooked breakfasts and home cooked roast at night. Good day-trips to Thompson Dam/Glenmaggie/Walhalla/Gippsland Pioneer Village and several other places. Wallaby Rise is a unique and fun place to visit for a camp-oven roast lunch, along with home-made soup and dessert. Paul, the owner entertains with jokes and Australian Bush poetry – he is a great host.

We had a school group staying at Rawson for 2 nights/ 3 days. Everything offered at Rawson was excellent, the cabins were keeped warm which fended off the winter chill, and the food was excellent which certainly exceeded the expectations of what whould normally be offered at a school camp. The students also highly enjoyed the activities. Credit must go to the Rawson Village staff for their hospitality and their helpfulness in making our school camp a memorable event.
I would most definately recommend Rawson Village to all school groups as an ideal venue for their school camps.

After a full day of 4×4 driving we stayed at the Rawson. Our accomadation was clean, warm and very comfortable.
We had also needed some parts for the car as we broke some thing on it and could not have gone out the next day if it did not get fixed, after trying to source the parts from other locations in Rawson we were then offered to go and have a look in the workshop to see if they had something that will work for us, they did and all was fixed for another great day of 4×4 driving in the area. We had dinner and breakfast at the Rawson and both were absolutly terriffic, staff polite, friendly and helpful at all times, open fire to die for and company that were there just great, even if you didn’t know them it felt like family.

Our Social Club group will probably make a week-end-away at Rawson Village an annual event after our very satisfactory experiences this year and last. Ideal for small groups, good food and service, good accomodation and friendly staff. Plenty of options for outdoor activities and yet close to Melbourne.

Well what can one say. I myself go to Rawson at least three times a year with a group, food is very pleasing, rooms are very homley, and staff can not do enough for all visiters.
Two important aspects of Rawson village, is, the wonder drive up the mountain, and the best peacefull location one vcould wish for.

Rawson Village is settled amongst beautiful gum trees with lots of native birds. The cabin accomodation is very warm and comfortable and the function room well equipped. The highlight for me, as a coeliac, was the food. The chef and kitchen staff understood my dietary needs and were meticulous in the care and preparation. The food was delicious and plentiful and served in a lovely environment complete with open fire.

I went on a Craft weekend that was held at Rawson Village. The cabins were so warm and the function room was well equipped and also very warm. I hadn’t been there before and was a bit nervous about the food – I am a Coeliac and require a Gluten Free diet – but I was pleasently surprised. The food was wonderful and the servings very generous. I wasn’t hungry all weekend! Compliments to the chef and kitchen staff – not only did they serve delicious food but they were very friendly and expert at what they did. Recommended especially to those with dietary issues. I’ll be back next year!

We found this magic spot several years ago and have been going there twice and often three times a year ever since. (WE) are a group of friends, up to 20, who are dedicated to patchwork and quilting. As soon as one week end is over we are planning the next. The owners couldn’t be more helpful no matter what our requests. Rawson for us is peace, tranquility in the company of good friends.

I found the Resort while on a coach trip and the meal was more than I could eat.
Thus returned for a very relaxing time and Trish Kevin and staff were most helpful with local things to fill in the days spent in Rawson. The best kept secret in the Walhalla and Mt Rivers Region.

Rawson Village is great base. In winter I use it for heading off to either Mt St Gwinear or Mt Baw Baw. Kids think it’s fab and it’s good value. Walhalla is just down the road so if the snow isn’t your thing, Rawson Village provides plenty of options to explore.

This village offers not only accomodation for singles or families, but for school groups. As a person who has visited for both, I can recommend the friendly staff and peaceful environment. It is hard to mention all the reasons to base yourself here. A few would be access to snow, bush walking, river sports, fishing, 4 wheel driving and hiking. These are all within 20minutes of the venue. If I were to include all other things to do within 30 minutes it would be too much to mention. Rawson village – the place to be alone when you want to, but right in the thick of it.

Rawson Village is a beautiful retreat in summer or winter, depending whether you are looking for a “snow” base or a weekend away crafting, family gathering or just a “get away and relax” time, and with a friendly family atmosphere, the food and log fire is very inviting.

Bird life is plentiful, and the native vegetation and trees are a big drawcard if you like bushwalking. Being centrally located, it is the perfect retreat.

Our family found the Rawson Village extremely family friendly. It’s a family run business. Children and Adults are catered for. We were made feel very welcome and enjoyed our stay. They cater for large groups, School camps, etc up to 300 people. They also cater for small families. There are activities for the kids and Adults. My son enjoyed the flying fox. He said it was just awesome. The accommodation is very clean, warm and welcoming. The food is first class dining at a budget price. It’s a very large area and close to the bush for the avid bush walker or bird watcher. We had a very relaxing holiday. A lot of fun had by all. Log onto the web site and check it out. http://www.rawsonvillage.com.au
