What a fantastic venue!, the accomodation is comfortable, the staff are warm, friendly and helpful and the meals in the bistro are fantastic!
This is complimented with an excellent wine list! (and in the cooler months, an open fireplace with a roaring fire!)
The staff go out of their to help!
Do you require a take away picnic lunch while you enjoy a drive to the Thompson Dam or explore the township of Walhalla? they will provide it!
Do you require local knowledge to explore the area, the staff at Rawson Village can supply it!
Only 2.5 hours from Melbourne, but what a venue!
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The log fire was welcome whilst having a drink before dinner.
On Sept 7th/8th the Dept of Sustainability and Environment conducted an advanced Tanker Operators course in preparation for the coming fire season. On Oct 5th/6th a second course was held, Again it was a pleasure attending Rawson Village, The quality of the facility is evident to the eye, A glance at the ceiling in the dining room shows the type of professionals that would have been employed in the original construction phase, This quality is mirrored by the facility today and only enhanced by the food and staff. Thank You All

Very comfortable. Great service in the restaurant. They gave us dinner on a Sunday night, even though we were the only people staying there that night! Food was delightful.
Ideal base for exploring Walhalla, and an easy trip back to Melbourne.
It is just beautiful.
Looking for a great weekend then Rawson Village is the place. Food, company Rooms, everything you need is at your finger tips. Great for groups to get away and sewing to their hearts are content. Thanks for a great place to do that.
It is a magic spot for our getaway craft weekends. Free from the hustle and bustle of large towns, staff who make every effort to make our weekends hastle free.
Lovely clean rooms. relaxed setting
On behalf of the Dept of Sustainability & Environment Tanker Operators Course held at the Village on the 7th & 8th of September 2009 I would like to thank Rawson Village and its great staff for fine food, great rooms and giving us a place to not only teach and learn but to feel at home. The venue offered all we required to prepare for the coming fire season, Thank You All

Great location for early morning walks and a wonderful venue for a scrapbooking weekend, staff could not have been more helpful, food outstanding (the best roast lamb & gravy ever in a commercial venue – & I’m a gravy addict!).
Will be returning next year.
Great spot, great people and great memories.
clean neat and tidy, meals good and nice people, what more can you ask for
For four years now I have been taking a group of 50 ladies up for a scrapbooking weekend.
The staff make sure the booking process is a breeze and accommodate our every whim – and with a smile.
We love the relaxed atmosphere. Everything is there that we need, plenty of space, clean warm rooms, great meals – never go hungry and situated in a beautiful part of our country.
A weekend away feels like you have been away for a week!
20 motel units, some lodges. It is an excellent place and location to stay. Wonderful cooked breakfasts and home cooked roast at night. Good day-trips to Thompson Dam/Glenmaggie/Walhalla/Gippsland Pioneer Village and several other places. Wallaby Rise is a unique and fun place to visit for a camp-oven roast lunch, along with home-made soup and dessert. Paul, the owner entertains with jokes and Australian Bush poetry – he is a great host.
We had a school group staying at Rawson for 2 nights/ 3 days. Everything offered at Rawson was excellent, the cabins were keeped warm which fended off the winter chill, and the food was excellent which certainly exceeded the expectations of what whould normally be offered at a school camp. The students also highly enjoyed the activities. Credit must go to the Rawson Village staff for their hospitality and their helpfulness in making our school camp a memorable event.
I would most definately recommend Rawson Village to all school groups as an ideal venue for their school camps.
After a full day of 4×4 driving we stayed at the Rawson. Our accomadation was clean, warm and very comfortable.
We had also needed some parts for the car as we broke some thing on it and could not have gone out the next day if it did not get fixed, after trying to source the parts from other locations in Rawson we were then offered to go and have a look in the workshop to see if they had something that will work for us, they did and all was fixed for another great day of 4×4 driving in the area. We had dinner and breakfast at the Rawson and both were absolutly terriffic, staff polite, friendly and helpful at all times, open fire to die for and company that were there just great, even if you didn’t know them it felt like family.
We had a large group stay at Rawson Village and we all had a wonderful time. The meals and hospitality were great! Thanks
A group of us just had a great scrapbooking weekend at Rawson Village. Great location, well equipped and great food. All we needed.
Our Social Club group will probably make a week-end-away at Rawson Village an annual event after our very satisfactory experiences this year and last. Ideal for small groups, good food and service, good accomodation and friendly staff. Plenty of options for outdoor activities and yet close to Melbourne.
friendly staff, great location.
Lovely and peaceful. Huge rooms. Great meals catered very well for gluten free diet.
Each year our group enjoys a short refreshing stay at your picturesque Village. Such a great contrast to western suburban life in Melbourne. Accomodation is excellent, the food is first class and the staff are extremely helpfull , efficient and friendly.
Well what can one say. I myself go to Rawson at least three times a year with a group, food is very pleasing, rooms are very homley, and staff can not do enough for all visiters.
Two important aspects of Rawson village, is, the wonder drive up the mountain, and the best peacefull location one vcould wish for.
Great place to stay close to the Baw Baw snow fields and the historic Wahalla Goldfields. The management is excellent and the rooms well appointed.
Rawson Village is settled amongst beautiful gum trees with lots of native birds. The cabin accomodation is very warm and comfortable and the function room well equipped. The highlight for me, as a coeliac, was the food. The chef and kitchen staff understood my dietary needs and were meticulous in the care and preparation. The food was delicious and plentiful and served in a lovely environment complete with open fire.
I went on a Craft weekend that was held at Rawson Village. The cabins were so warm and the function room was well equipped and also very warm. I hadn’t been there before and was a bit nervous about the food – I am a Coeliac and require a Gluten Free diet – but I was pleasently surprised. The food was wonderful and the servings very generous. I wasn’t hungry all weekend! Compliments to the chef and kitchen staff – not only did they serve delicious food but they were very friendly and expert at what they did. Recommended especially to those with dietary issues. I’ll be back next year!
We found this magic spot several years ago and have been going there twice and often three times a year ever since. (WE) are a group of friends, up to 20, who are dedicated to patchwork and quilting. As soon as one week end is over we are planning the next. The owners couldn’t be more helpful no matter what our requests. Rawson for us is peace, tranquility in the company of good friends.
Very nice big place to stay, Staff are welcoming, friendly and willing to help with advice in what to do around the place. The accommodation is very clean and accommodates all kinds of people all in all a good place to stay.
Fabulous venue for our patchwork weekend,Staff helpful and friendly, rooms clean and warm ( in winter) Meals always good, relaxing and fun. Lovely walks or bike riding when you need a break from the sewing. Highly recommend.
I found the Resort while on a coach trip and the meal was more than I could eat.
Thus returned for a very relaxing time and Trish Kevin and staff were most helpful with local things to fill in the days spent in Rawson. The best kept secret in the Walhalla and Mt Rivers Region.
Rawson Village is the perfect place to base yourself to explore in and around Mt Baw Baw and Walhalla. It is also suitable for conferences, school groups or just a quiet retreat away from the hustle and bustle. Enjoy all the mod cons and great food in the bistro.
Fantastic accomodation and venue. I have been going back to Rawson annually now for years and always recieve excellent, friendly service. The rooms are clean and the food super delicious, all with beautifull surrounds. Rawson Village caters for all types of travellers, visitors and groups.
Rawson Village is great base. In winter I use it for heading off to either Mt St Gwinear or Mt Baw Baw. Kids think it’s fab and it’s good value. Walhalla is just down the road so if the snow isn’t your thing, Rawson Village provides plenty of options to explore.
A good night’s sleep followed by a scrumptious country breakfast of sausages, eggs and tomato (Yum!) set the tone for a great day’s touring in the Rawson/Walhalla area. Thanks to Rawson Village.
This is a very nice resort. The rooms are clean and spacious, the staff are very friendly and helpful, and the food is delicious. Our group have already booked for the same time next year.
Great place to stay, accommodation is variable and good standard.
Great venue for our craft getaway. Set in tranquil bushland. Great food, helpful staff and good amenities
great place to stay – friendly staff, breakfast great. Staff willing to accommadate you and always helpful. Large range of accommodation. my family will be going back.
Our company have been coming to Rawson for the last 2 years, it is a great place to stay,
there is something for everyone, snow, shopping, walking, staying there and just relaxing, we have decided as a couple we would love to come up for our wedding anniversary and keep it as a on going thing.
Thank you to the staff for all of there help and great knowledge.
I’ve been coming to Rawson Village for years and it is fabulous. Great location – so peaceful and beautiful. But also lots to get out and do. Accomodation and food are good too
This village offers not only accomodation for singles or families, but for school groups. As a person who has visited for both, I can recommend the friendly staff and peaceful environment. It is hard to mention all the reasons to base yourself here. A few would be access to snow, bush walking, river sports, fishing, 4 wheel driving and hiking. These are all within 20minutes of the venue. If I were to include all other things to do within 30 minutes it would be too much to mention. Rawson village – the place to be alone when you want to, but right in the thick of it.
A fabulous country retreat with service and food to make you could stay longer. Dining near a huge open fire – what more could one wish? My first choice for groups too, never disappointed.
A great place to stay yummy food friendly hosts & staff, The perfect spot because its a short distant from places like Walhalla, Mt BawBaw & Mt Stgwinear with snow fields and great walks near by i look forward to my next stay!
A great place for families and anybody who loves spending time in the hills. Rawson, Erica and Walhalla make a perfect getaway trifecta.
Great location. The set up for our scrapbooking weekend retreat was excellent. Service and food was good, especially morning and afternoon tea.
Love the food and playing on the grass.
Like coming home to family that you want to see!
My family come to Rawson Village often and we always enjoy ourselves.
Breakfast is great. It’s great staying at Rawson Village and visiting Walhalla.
It is always so peaceful to head to Rawson Village. Great to get away and relax.
Pakenham Patchworkers have their Annual Retreat at Rawson Village every year and dealing with approx 85 ladies is a challenge.
Kevin & Trish are very good hosts and we keep coming back to Rawson Village
Rawson Village is a beautiful retreat in summer or winter, depending whether you are looking for a “snow” base or a weekend away crafting, family gathering or just a “get away and relax” time, and with a friendly family atmosphere, the food and log fire is very inviting.
Bird life is plentiful, and the native vegetation and trees are a big drawcard if you like bushwalking. Being centrally located, it is the perfect retreat.
A fabulous relaxing place to stay – comfortable & roomy accommodation; beautifully kept grounds; great conference room facilities (ideal for patchwork weekends); good food and friendly & helpful staff.
A family business with warm and friendly service providing an opportunity to relax and enjoy good accommodation and fine food for both families and couples at affordable prices
Breakfast is great! Terrific actually, which you need with such a large family. Great variety to select from, happy and easy going staff. Rooms are clean, neat and tidy. Would happily go back anytime!
Fabulous for our big group. Will be back.
I can highly recommend Rawson Village. It is the perfect place for small or large groups. Accommodation is comfortable and cosy, with several facilities for group activities. The managers Kevin and Trish and all other staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The chef and kitchen staff are great and the food they produce is worth going back for! I have been taking a Bushwalking group and a Craft group to Rawson for several years and have never been disappointed! Great location and facilities at a very reasonable price. The area is very scenic and offer opportunities for various activities. The township of Walhalla is close by and worth a visit. A fabulous place – definitely a MUST go!
Rawson Village is a great place to stay. So close to everything – Mt St Gwinear, Mt Baw Baw, and Walhalla. We love the bushwalking at Mt Erica. It’s great to get back to Rawson Village after a day’s activities, sit back in the huge dining room and enjoy a great meal. The breakfast is wonderful – a must!
Our family found the Rawson Village extremely family friendly. It’s a family run business. Children and Adults are catered for. We were made feel very welcome and enjoyed our stay. They cater for large groups, School camps, etc up to 300 people. They also cater for small families. There are activities for the kids and Adults. My son enjoyed the flying fox. He said it was just awesome. The accommodation is very clean, warm and welcoming. The food is first class dining at a budget price. It’s a very large area and close to the bush for the avid bush walker or bird watcher. We had a very relaxing holiday. A lot of fun had by all. Log onto the web site and check it out. http://www.rawsonvillage.com.au
I have been having my Scrapbooking Retreats at Rawson for 6 years and my customers and I just love the relaxed atmosphere. We stay in the bunkhouses and they are comfortable and warm. Food is fantastic and we always look forward to our next visit with much anticipation. Hosts Trish & Kevin and their staff are all very friendly & accommodating.
I have stayed at Rawson Village with my family a number of times. We love to escape to this region as there is just so much to see and do. Walhalla is just wonderful. The dining room at Rawson Village is a great place to unwind after a busy day. In winter sit by the open fire and enjoy a great meal. Kids can bring their bikes and play soccer on the large oval.
Rawson Village is wonderfully appointed for a variety of activities. They have first class motel accomodation, as well as large capacity for groups in low cost but comfortable accomodation, there is a great dining room so you never have to cook a meal. There is a substantial area for family activities including a variety of challenging pursuits for all ages. set in beautiful Rawson in breathtaking country with Valhalla nearby and many other scenic drives Rawson Village is a brilliant spot for a family holiday or that romantic weekend. I have stayed there several time sand just loved the whole experience.
