rupertswood mansion

“Rupertswood” is one of Australia’s most important mansions, both historically and architecturally. Built as a residence for Sir William John Clarke, (first Australian born Baronet), in 1874-76 it became a power seat in the great English tradition. The property covered an area of 31,000 acres. Today the estate has been reduced to 1,100 acres. “Rupertswood” is a 50 room mansion built in the Italianate style, surmounted by a 100 foot tower.

Today the mansion has undergone extensive restoration, reinstating elaborate Victorian colour and decorative schemes, and operating as a boutique hotel. With Butlers, Doormen, a high level of service and food, “Rupertswood” is an experience only found in the great houses of England.

From the cheeky geese who greet you as you enter the grounds to the warmest of welcomes from fabulous Margaret and her team, Rupertswood has fast become my most FAVOURITE place to visit. I recently celebrated a ‘milestone’ b’day and took some family and friends to Rupertswood’s ‘A Night at the Opera’ in August. What an roaring success that was! Our guests are still talking about the experience…and all those who stayed overnight want to keep coming back for that scrumptious breakfast!!!
Margaret, Aneta and everyone else at Rupertswood – you have put Sunbury on the map! We all think you’re the tops! See you all soon!

found the rupetswood mansion a great place to stay u get embraced in the age and amount of effect and money that would have be put in to building such a big place while trying to see wat it would have been like to liv in as a freshly built mansion !

My wife and I got married in the beautiful gardens at the Mansion in 1999 and held our wedding reception there. We went back for our 5th Wedding Anniversary and stayed in the luxurious Mackay Suite and fell in love with each other and the Mansion all over again. We are about to celebrate my 50th Birthday Party there in a couple of weeks time with about 80 guests and the staff were as enthusiatic about our James Bond theme as we were. We are now planning to spend our 10th Wedding Anniversary in November there also. We adore everything about the grandeur of the mansion, accomodation, facilities, staff, food, service, vista and of course our memories of all the functions we have attended there.

Keep up the great work, Margret and Aneta.

Rupertswood Mansion ia an amazing place. We celebrated our wedding ceremony and reception in May this year at the mansion and stayed the night along with family and friends. We had our wedding photos taken on the grounds of Rupertswood which was just beautiful, the old bridge and balcony of the mansion were great locations and we didnt have to travel far.
I would recommend this location for anyone thinking of having a wedding or function or just to treat yourself to a weekend away. Food and service was above my expectations (which are high). Thanks to Margaret and the team. Hope to be back again soon.

Rupertswood is an extraordinarily valuable historic Homestead, managed and operated by one of the most experienced and lovely hostesses, Margaret and her terrific team. Our client conference group cricket day was a raving success thanks to their professional and seamless attention to our needs, and our client board of directors who stayed on for accommodation and meetings, were looked after to the highest standards. Working in Sunbury, I drive past the mansion every day and it became part of the scenery. Until we had our staff Christmas party there last year- it was immaculate, it felt like stepping back in time! The staff were all absolutely wonderful, the food, sensational and I can not remember a better experience! I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

My fiance and I are getting married at Rupertswood in November and are so excited to be able to exchange our vows in such a beautiful and romantic place in front of our closest friends and family. We were unsure of where we wanted to get married but as soon as we walked into this fantastic mansion and were shown around by Margaret, we knew straight away that this place was special and that this is where we wanted to start off our new life together as husband and wife.

How lucky is Sunbury to have such an historical facility close to the town centre. The lake, the geese and ducks and the setting make this mansion one of Victoria’s treasures.

What a spectacular venue had never heard of it before we had a 2 day conference accommodation like stepping back to the 18th century treated like a king Margaret had us in stitches with her cellar chat & tour her attention to detail was noticed by all our delegates and was mentioned more than once. Before you die you must experience Rupertswood Mansion the work they have done is first class well done.

An amazing place to visit for a Friday night Soiree. Big open fire, great music, platters of food , great staff and a good red wine by the open fire. It’s heaven.
I also went to an Opera night which was again beautiful the music acoustics with the huge hall ways and ceilings is probably what people in the l8th Century enjoyed when it was first built.
