sanctuary park cottages

The property is not far from the township of healsville. The cottages have all you need for a weekend escape or a week long stay. Wendy and Alex were great with places to go and explore. The cottage was warm and cosy. We went to the country to escape and the cottages made us feel right at home.

We (my husband and our two little boys) had a beautiful 3-days stay at Sanctuary Pk Cottages in July this year. Yep, we chose the coldest time of year, particularly for travelling to Victoria, but the log fires, homely surroundings, country-type hospitality – eggs, quilts, video/DVD library (a perfect night-time distraction for the two boys!!) – space to run, little park, wildlife and the serenest of surroundings made up for that (a sense of serenity that helped us, as outsiders, to absorb and deal with the sadness we felt from viewing so many communities dealing stoically with the remnants of the bushfires). I use my photos to remind me of the serenity. Just beautiful. I would recommend this accommodation to anyone, particularly those valuing space, privacy, serenity, landscape and a sense of homeliness and comfort that it would seem only logs can bring!

The children and I loved this expereince. It was a very tranqui environment, and the quality time we had together just walking around the premises and enjoying the scenery was amazing.
It is very cetral to many parks, and lots of activities, if ones needs to burn energy.
The cabins were very cosy, and you feellike the entire place is just yours! A little home away in the beuatiful countryside.
Thankyou for a very relaxing and enjoyable family expereience.

We have been visiting Sancturary Park Cottages since 2004. We try to spend a weekend there at least twice a year and have recomended it to many friends, some from overseas, all of whom have also had wonderful weekends there. We also recomended it to a former empplyer for a weekend conference facility. Though, in truth we prefer visit Sanctuary Park to relax, unwind and spend quality time outdoors.

The owners, Wendy and Alex, have always been the most hospitable, warm lovely folk to welcome us to their facility. They have alwasy treated us almost as family have made our stay there memorable and superb.

With all of the stressess that we have with the world, be it from work, the economicy or the global situation, I could not recomend highly enough Sanctury Park for that perfect weekend (or week) get away. I hope that new visators will enjoy the place as we have , for the past 5 years!!!

We had such a wonderful relaxing time here last year that we are coming back to enjoy the peaceful surrounds again this Melbourne Cup weekend. Can’t wait for fresh eggs for breakfast listening to the sound of the birds whilst watching the bunnies play in our backyard. Peace perfect peace!

We stayed in the cottages 19thJune weekend. We needed a place with 3bedroom for the sake of children & then to be able to kick on with another adult couple without leaving the cotttage to do so – it was PERFECT! It was more then we expected, we were pleased to find a full bathroom, laundry & kitchen facilities along with a great fireplace.
Thank you for supplying this type of accommodation as it is hard to ‘getaway’ when you have children & not until you need to find somewhere with 3bedrooms do you realise its difficult to locate at a reasonable price. If you are looking at expanding I know another couple with children that would love to accommodate a 4bedroom place with us – if only we could find one that is affordable?!
Thank you – we will be back

Seven of us stayed for a long weekend when Leonard Cohen played at Rochford Winery as part of the A Day on the Green summer festivals. There were five adults and two children. We had a wonderful time at the cottages. The self-catering meant that we were able to feast every day. The children appreciated the swimming pool and spa. The proximity to things to do such as Maze n Things was fantastic and gave the two girls an opportunity to get out and about. We came away from the concert having had a wonderful time and the cottages were a wonderful complement to the entire experience. I would definitely recommend this to families and groups of friends wanting to get away,

Just a hop, skip and jump to one of the most relaxing places we’ve been too. Why travel hours to “get away” when you can go to the aptly named Sanctuary Park in just 45 minutes? There is something for all ages and seasons and Wendy and Alex define host. If you can drag yourself away from the tranquility, visit a couple of the finest restaurants in Victoria in nearby Healesville.

We all had a wonderful stay at Sanctuary Park Cottages and we would have loved to stay for at least a week. The adorable friendly animals and playground kept the children entertained and the beautiful grounds extended a tranquility which is seldom found at accommodation houses. We each thoroughly enjoyed the cottages and felt rested and exhilarated with our break.

I took my 88yr old mum for a break. We loved the huge garden, lake and birds and animals, close to sanctuary and
Healesville township, blissfully quiet, everything you could possibly need when self catering. Would love to return with several of our kids families in the different cottages, gear place to bring children and grandchildren

From start to end, this place provided a fantastic environment. From the fire roaring on arrival, the huge selection of movies, the great local advice, the setting. What more can I say. Perfection.

I picked this place and booked it online cuz it seemed like a lovely place – that could accommodate my little girl. THere was also parking space since we were on a self-drive (unless cramped city hotels).

The surroundings were great – serene and peaceful, with lots of animals around. It was nice looking outta your window to see birds, bunnies etc Of course the moment my little tot got outta the house, they were nowhere to be seen – she’s quite a terror!

The cottages are within walking distance from each other, but not too close – so you have quite abit of privacy. THe animals were fun. Healesville was nearby with lotsa quaint little shops, eateries as well as a wonderful COLES supermarket. Marysville was a short drive away and the black spurs was splendid.

WE also managed to get out to other suburbs easily, go all around the wineries and traffic was smooth.

I think it’s a great place to stay. Clean cottages, well-stocked with essentials and crockery/utensils, lovely bathroom with tub, bowl and cubicle. FIreplace was such a blast – we survived with a 15-month tot and the free DVD rental was a life-saver for cold nights. :)

You must pay them a visit!!

The cottages are just beautifully appointed and so extremely comfortable. The host and hostess Alex and Wendy are the nicest couple you would every hope to meet. They are friendly, hospitable and go out of their way to make visitors feel comfortable and relaxed. The setting is just like heaven and the views from everywhere on the property are breathtakingly beautiful. These people went far above and beyond the call of duty and support in the devastating Victorian bushfires and helped families and firefighters out with accomodation, support and friendship to all concerned. They deserve every nice thing that can come their way!!!! Good on ya guys and good luck in the competition!

Our stay at Santuray Park Cottages was tranquil and relaxing for me, my family and my friends. Though months had passed we still talk about it to date. We would recommend to anyone who is visitinv Yarra Valley not to miss staying with Alex and Wendy. They are terrific hosts too and make anyone feel at home in their cottages.

Thank you for the wonderful stay last week. The beautifully simple warm wooden cottage gave us the perfect amount of protection from the rainy 8 degree weekend we stumbled into on our visit. With wonderful hosts and beautifully landscaped gardens, it was a highly recommended stay for two yougens wanting a relaxing quite weekend.

We stayed in the Healesville Santuary a few months ago, when the weather was still poor. What better recommendation to the place, the cottages and the hosts than to say that even if it rained the whole three days, we had a wonderful time?! We did, and we are looking forward to go back and enjoy it during the summer.

What a magical place! From the rabbits jumping along the grounds all day, feeding the animals with our toddler, and enjoying a glass of Yarra Valley wine in front of the fire at night, Sanctuary Park Cottages are delightful. Every need was taken care of and we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect place to stay.

We stayed one night at the lovely Sanctuary Park Cottages and it was definitely not long enough! Our little girl cried when we left she just didn’t want to leave her holiday house. We loved the free DVD’s and games, feeding the animals, walking around the lake, playing on the playground, running free….it was a child’s (and parents) ideal getaway. The cottage we stayed in was clean and well stocked. The hosts were friendly and helpful. We will be coming back for a longer stay next time.

We stayed at Sanctuary Park Cottages in Healesville in 2008 and enjoyed it so much we had to come back this year! We have a favourite “Cottage” , it is very cosy with the wood fire and everything is in great order and very clean and well maintained.
Our daughter loves feeding the animals and having plenty of space to run around and we love the views!
Great location, very peaceful and a wonderful holiday experience so close to the city.Highly recommended.

We stayed 2 nights in Sept, wish it had been longer, everything was thought of by Wendy and Alex, right down to delivering a light, games to play and a battery operated radio to listen to the footy ( Lions lost) on a windy night when the power was lost. A playground, lagoon and animals were a huge hit with our daughter plus the service with a smile and lots of excellent guidance about touring the district. We will return!

Santuary Lake Cottages comes highly recommended as a family holiday destination. The kids loved feeding the animals, kicking the footy in the open space, running around the lake and playing in the old tractor in the playground. The accomodation was close to many local attractions too. Wendy and Alex had thought of everything to accomodate a young family. Thanks alot for a great weekend away.

The cabin that we stayed in was immaculate and had a marvellous warm atmosphere. The garden surrounding the cabin was beautiful and full of amazing birds in the morning. The separation that the garden provided, and the distance between the cabins gave a great sense of privacy. The grounds were great to walk around in, and the goats in the paddocks beside the drive-way were charming and hilarious. And the number of stars that you can see there at night is breathtaking.

We had the most wonderful time at the Sanctuary Park Cottages. We had the Lake view cottage which was ideal for us and our two children aged 22months and 3 months.
From the moment we checked in we knew it was going to be a terrific weekend.
Molly loved the space to run outside and to have the opportunity to feed the chickens and see the sheep and goats. The childrens park that they have set up is terrific too!
The surroundings are absolutely beautiful – we will definately be back.

We gratefully accepted free emergency accommodation at Sanctuary Park Cottages when we were evacuated during the Feb 2009 bushfires. The environment is such a delight and provided us with a relaxing haven. Each cottage is well away from its neighbours and totally private. All have delightful views of the grounds, the lake and the mountains.

We stayed in two cottages (we were happy to move into the “honeymoon cottage” – pictured at the head of this page – to allow some older folk into our single level cottage) and the buildings, furniture, fittings and services were all excellent. All linen was supplied and of fine quality. We were provided with lots of minor staples, including breakfast supplies. Our daughter and grandchildren were also accommodated in a separate cottage and loved the freedom of the huge lawns, the swimming pool and the playground as well as the farm animals. There was also a lot of wildlife, especially birds – eagles, grebes, owls and various honey eaters, amongst others.

We have nothing but praise for Wendy and Alex and highly recommend their property to anyone who wants a beautiful and relaxing base from which to explore the wonderful Yarra Valley and surrounding areas.

We had a very pleasant stay at Sanctuary Park Cottages. We had 4 families to accomodate for a 60th birthday weekend so this accomodation was perfect. Each family had there own cottage but we were right next door to each other. It was a wonderful property for children as the grounds are big enough for them to run around and have some free time themselves. The owners were very hospitable and the whole area is such a beautiful place to spend time.

My wife and I first stayed at Sanctuary Park last October, the weekend was wet and cold so we spent some time in the cottage and walking around the property. It was a very relaxing and wonderful weekend, the owners Wendy and Alex we very friendly and helpful. Coming all the way from Singapore for a winter stay, we were pleasantly surprised to find the cottages were better than what we saw on the website. We especially loved the winery and restaurant recommendations given by our hosts. Thanks Alex and Wendy. We enjoyed your Loft cottage very much. We also enjoyed the wildlife around us. This provided us with a nice relaxed get away and a place we will always remember as Adam and myself got engaged in your beautiful cottage and we will difinately choose your cottages again next time we visit Healesville. Thank you once again and all the best and we’ll see you both again soon. XOXO

The grounds are lovely, for either a private getaway for two or for a family holiday… The hosts were very helpful and our stay was a memorable one… We never go back to the same place twice but we are definitely considering it!

Have stayed at Snactuary Park Cottages on numerous occasions and will be returning soon. Fantastic place to take kids – small playground onsite; goats and sheep to feed; free portacot and highchair; DVD, kids books and some basic toys in the cottages. Love the big spa bath. We have been there with friends with kids – it is a great place where you can have your own cottage and have friends/family close by in another cottage. Highly recommend Sanctuary Park Cottages to anyone looking for a family getaway.

We really enjoyed staying at Sanctuary Park Cottages. They are close to Healesville township but are in a quiet, relaxing location with beautiful mountain views, well maintained gardens and even a lake! The cottages are very cosy, comfortable and well equipped. We like staying there as it’s close to the wineries, good restaurants and Healesville Sanctuary which the Grandkids love. Alex and Wendy are great hosts and were most helpful. We plan to stay there again soon!

A superb choice for our family break with two kids aged 9 & 12 who had never seen snow. We went up to Lake Mountain to give them their dose of toboganning and then chose to also visit Mt Buller to give them even more snow.

We enjoyed the Lakeview Cottage so much that we extended our stay – luckily as it was mid-week we were able to.

Alex and Wendy are just great people and very helpful with all aspects of meeting our requirements. The property is beautifully presented and maintained and provides a fantastic spot for a break or an extended stay. Santuary Park Cottages has everything for both adults and children to have a relaxing stay. We felt relaxed and at ease with the surroundings as the cottage offered us a relaxing stay.

Wendy and Alex were very friendly and the only thing I requested was to access internet access but it was intentionally not fix within the cottage. So that guests is kept away from the outside world.

We visited Healesville Santuary and a Lavendar Farm which is just a stone throw away from the cottage. The place was filled with animals and my little girl was delighted by the rabbits running free. Indeed a very interesting place to stay and we will certainly be back again.

Sanctuary Park Cottages is just that – a sanctuary. A fantastic place to get away from busy city life and close enough to Healesville to do as much or as little as you like.

Lakeside cottage has a fantastic water view with the hills in the background and we loved the wood fire which kept the cottage nice and cosy al night. The beds are comfy and the cottage has all the amenities that you need for a weekend or a week. The children enjoyed exploring the different areas on the farm and liked playing on the playground, petting the sheep and finding the kangaroos around the dam.

Wendy and Alex are perfect hosts and provide the finishing touches which makes a stay special – like putting lollies on the childrens beds instead of soaps and arranging what they call on their website “Life’s Little Extras”. As we had driven over from Adelaide we arranged to have massages which we had in front of the wood fire – fantastic.

We were very reluctant to leave but have booked another visit in February and have recommended to our friends that they should stay there if they visit Healesville.

Fabulous place for a holiday with the children – beautiful, rustic cottages, perfect grounds, lots of things to keep the kids entertained – they are still raving about the playground, and feeding the sheep and goats, the extensive DVD collection available for the evenings, and eating “real” eggs from the chickens on the property! And for the parents, a relaxing stay with fresh air, and plenty of room for the kids without having to worry about anything.
