shizuka ryokan

Recent winner of the Hepburn Regional Tourism Award for Excellence, Australia’s renowned Japanese guesthouse Shizuka Ryokan is an indulgent retreat featuring traditional accommodation, delicious cuisine and luxurious spa treatments. Set amid tranquil bushland in central Victoria’s picturesque “spa country”, Shizuka Ryokan is fully authentic in every detail including its architecture, furnishings and gardens. More important however is the genuine and warm hospitality of the Japanese and local hosts, offering generous and personalised service including the signature four-course dinner which may be served individually to guestrooms. Whilst highly traditional, Shizuka Ryokan also caters for common creature comforts which are provided in a truly stylish environment. Couples, singles and small groups come to the inn to relax, indulge, rejuvenate and immerse in the romance and tranquillity. Shizuka Ryokan is also a unique venue for small corporate groups to conduct retreats, workshops and meetings. Located in Hepburn Springs near Daylesford, it’s a small piece of Japan close to home – just a 75 minute drive from Melbourne. For Aussies, that’s much more accessible than the long flight to Kyoto.

I was greatly impressed by Peter and Margaret’s hospitality. I’d like to visit again, when I go back to Australia. :)

Like the Ceders Indulgence Retreat in Ballan, Shizuka Ryokan offers something a little right of centre. A quality get away with links to another culture and point in time.

Spending the night at shizuka ryokan took me to a exotic destination one that displayed elegance and creativity. The hosts were very welcoming as were the staff. The food was fantastic, the rooms extremely comfortable and the Geisha Facial was nurturing and took me to another world!

Shizuka is a true escape to another world. The serenity and beauty brought instant relaxation. And I I’ve rarely experienced such pampering and indulgence as I found at the spa…matched only by our hosts wonderful hospitality.

A very tranquil place to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The Japanese food was delicious. I would definitely like to return with my husband.
