We have stayed there on three different occasions, each time has presented another experience. The accommodation is first class, with beautiful views down the valley to the sea. A great base from which you can explore the rest of the Great Ocean Road. The hosts Mark and Roz are very professional, friendly, and helpful, with nothing left to chance.

I really enjoyed meeting the hosts, they provided a warm and friendly environment. Their gardener is superb. Their cabins over look Johanna beach with all it’s wildness and splender. It is an easy drive to the beach for a walk and close to Apollo Bay. I would give it five out of five; top spot on the Great Ocean Road drive.

Upon arriving at Boomerangs we were simply blown away by the beauty and style of the cottages and homestead. Mark greeted us with a smile and we knew we could settle in and enjoy all that the cottages and surrounds had to offer. With 2 Overseas guests in tow my husband and I were keen to impress them with all that Victoria has to offer and they left having fallen in love with both Johanna and Boomerangs. They now say that NSW is the movie but Victoria is the book! Thanks to the Boomerangs, I would recommend it to anyone.

We had a wonderful stay at the Boomerangs in March of 2007. We spent several days enjoying the area around Johanna and the Boomerangs made a terrific home base. The accomodations were spacious, modern and delightfully
“different”. Being from the US the Boomerang motif was very compelling. The owners were gracious, welcoming and helpful in planning our daily excursions.

We had the ABSOLUTE pleasure of staying at the Boomerangs back in March of 2005. We can not begin to explain the stunning beauty of the cottage/house/dream that we stayed in, from the spectacular view of the ocean to the beautiful, delightful gardens, to the designer styling of the unit and hospitality of the owners we were truly impressed. Spending over 20 hours in the air alone, not including layovers to travel Down Under from Boston, was very tiring and stressful to say the least, but the incredible journey through your wonderful country and staying at your amazing resort was well worth it to say the least. Hope you win it ALL, you deserve it!!!!!!!!!! With best wishes, Julie & Dennis p.s. Looking forward to a return trip, we tell everyone about the Boomerangs!!

The accommodation is superb. Near to the Otways with its beautiful national parks as well as the Great Ocean road with its stunning views of the Apostles, its location offers plenty of possibilities that keeps you going for days. When you come home exhausted from the walks or the drives a great spa bath, the wood burner and the great views refill your batteries in no time.

The most relaxing Oz break we’ve had in ages! Close enough to home but far enough away to feel we were in a piece of heaven! Located in a fabulous part of our state, we experienced gorgeous lush gardens, magnificent sea views and walks, country life with the neighborhood cows, and then the accommodation!!! Attention to detail in every way, we felt we could live there! The personal touches throughout the cabin were really appreciated! AND our hosts made sure we had everything we needed! We’ll be back and have been happy to recommend the Boomerangs to our friends!

The Boomerang cottage provided the perfect backdrop to a holiday exploring the beautiful Great Ocean Road and Otway region. We love places that avoid all the fussiness that is exemplified by ornaments and chintz, so the stylish Boomerang buildings, the stunning gardens, the privacy, the view (let’s not forget the view!) and the easy proximity of so many varied landscapes was a symphony of pleasure.

Margaret and I stayed for four nights in July 2007. Living in South-east Asia we wanted a cozy place to enjoy cold, wet weather. And, wow! did we get it! But the log fires kept us cozy, and we were able to while away the days just enjoying the fabulous views and watching the little blue wrens dance around the lawn in front of our cabin. All the facilities you need; stay a day or prefereably much longer. Just bring your own food and wine.

Living where we are we are just sorry that we have not been able to return for more. But we will!

The Boomerangs in Johanna is the perfect place to rest and unwind. The cottages are well appointed, very comfortable and have magnificent views of the Southern Ocean and surrounding farm land.

Mark and Roz are the welcoming hosts that ensure everything in the cottages is just right.

We intended to stay at the Boomerangs for a couple of nights and then move on along the coast, on our way from Melbourne to Adelaide. Instead, we stayed 5 nights and used it as a base to explore the Great Ocean Road. We greatly valued the clean and comfortable accommodations, the proximity to walks along Johanna Beach, the quiet of the area, the clarity of the night sky, and the friendly helpfulness of the hosts. It’s high on our list of places to which we want to return.

We absolutely loved the Boomerangs because of it’s superb location, set in the country and surrounded by the natural beauty of the bush, the wild life, the aroma of the native flora and the ocean. We would love to go back and stay again because the owners Mark & Ros are so friendly and polite and attend to all your needs when required and always make you feel so.. special.

The cottage I stayed in was lovely with a spectacular view – if only the sunsets were longer! The flowers and surrounding gardens near the cottages are a photographer’s delight.

We are always looking for something a bit different and with enough privacy and comfort to feel relaxed away from the city hustle & bustle. The boomerang design of the units with their floor to ceiling windows, cosy wood interior and attention to detail with Australian design in the led light window and bathroom decor was wonderful. Add to this the lush gardens and beautiful views and even with the rain we had a lovely time getting back from the Ottway Fly and relaxing in front of the fire. We highly recommend it.

We stayed at The Boomerangs for several nights while we explored the Great Ocean Road. Once again my trawling of the internet to find a memorable place to stay found a winner that we have recommended to other travelers.
The setting is private and tranquil but close enough for day trips to the touristy destinations along the coast.
Mark and Roz provide a delightful and architecturally interesting retreat that is a home away from home providing everything from biscuits to cereal. It seems Roz has anticipated that little something you will forget to bring with you but can’t do without.
The retro style interiors are extra special as they brought back fond memories of the 1980′s.
One day we will return for another enchanting stay……. we think a cold weather stay would be great so we can stoke up the fire.

I am from NYC and was living in Sydney. When my parents came for a visit to Australia – also from NYC – we drove from Melbourne to the 12 Apostles and stayed at the Boomerangs for a night to break up the drive. It’s a gorgeous, quite and very cozy house. The location is fantastic because it’s a bit off the touristy path and you have access to a stunning beach. We absolutely loved staying there and wish we had more time to spend there. My dad loved it so much, that he made sure to tell everyone about it wherever we stopped to chat about our travels.

The Boomerangs was THE place that I took my-now-wife-then-girlfriend before she had to go back to Japan.
You have the beach & the Great Southern Ocean almost at your door step, and are surrounded by the hills and National park.
We absorbed what nature had to offer and felt revitalized.
Enjoyed the time in an open-yet-exclusive cabin.

We arrived at the Boomerangs on a wet and windy night in August, after a long and tiring drive from Robe. We were impressed with the warm welcome from Roz and Mark, and with the comfortable accommodation. We only stayed one night, as we were en route to Melbourne, but we wish we could have stayed longer, as it’s a lovely spot. Roz and Mark sent us on our way the next morning with some very helpful tips about what to see on the way to Melbourne.

The Boomerang cabins are fantastically unique, well appointed and meticulously maintained. (stayed here about 7 years ago, then again just last month, and the cabins are just as clean and comfortable)
Combined with the beatuiful outlook, Winter warming wood fires, great hosts (incuding Hannah the amazing ball retrieving dog!), they offer a brilliant escape from Sydney’s fast paced living, and perfect base for exploring the great variety of attractions in the surrounding region.
We have every intention of visiting again!

Tomoko and I have stayed at the Boomerangs several times and never cease to be impressed by the beauty of the scenery, the quality of accommodation and hospitality of Mark and Roz. Johanna is truly one of the most beautiful locations on the Great Ocean Road for sights of woodland and sea and sounds of birds, and the Boomerang cottages fit perfectly and are well decorated, featured and appointed. We like the place and people so much we bought a block of land nearby and are building our own house! We would wholeheartedly recommend the area for walks on the beach or forest, or just to take it easy in the cottages watching the ceaselessly changing views and wildlife. Wonderful place!

We loved the panoramic views of rolling hills down to the ocean while sitting in front of the fire with a glass of red. The kangaroos and echnidas were there every day and we were amazed by all the birds.

The hosts Mark and Roz were attentive to our every need whilst not being intrusive. The accommodation with king bed and warm fires set every night could not have been more cosy. We will definately be coming back next year.

Organising a family get together is no easy task. When we contacted Mark & Roz of The Boomerangs, they were more than helpful in assisting us with our plans. Our relatives came from intrastate and were delighted with not only the very comfortable self-contained accommodation, but also the beautiful garden surrounds and views to the magnificent Great Southern Ocean. There is even a cottage with a walk-in shower that was perfect for Great Aunty Pat! Will definitely be back.

The perfect place to stay if you wish to traverse The Great Ocean Walk and enjoy a luxurious stay each night. A great view from your accommodation, full cooking facilities, large screen TV, sound system, comfortable bed and, perhaps most importantly, a spa, in which to ease those tired muscles after a hard day’s walk.

Four of us (myself, husband, Melbourne based son and fiance) loved the Boomerangs. The setting, views, wild parrots, hospitality were excellent. We had a wild storm one night and electric was lost for a few hours but we weathered it with the gas grill for cooking, candles and board games to make it a fun evening.Great jumping off point for all the Great Ocean Drive…and all there is to do in the Otways. Even though it is a ways from Boston, USA, we would gladly return.

I found the cottages to be so restful and quiet. The angle on which they are built means each cottage is separate and private. Just loved the spa – absolutely saturated the bathroom and toilet roll! The cooking facilities are great, the lounge very comfortable. The views are beautiful. Beds great. I want to go back!

Lots to do and see in the area and very close to some beautiful walks and scenery, but the cottages are still vey private.

I found the hosts to be warm, friendly and accepting.

Warm, friendly, comfortable and beautiful – just a few words to describe the cabins and Roz and Mark’s fabulous hospitality. The panoramic views are stunning and the spa is luxurious. The surrounding area holds so much more than the 12 Apostles, such as the rain forests, national parks, waterfalls and Johanna Beach. The Boomerang Cabins make a great base for exploring and relaxing and we will definately be back.

We stayed 2 nights in cold wet winter & used the Boomerangs as a base for local walks around the Lavers Hill district. Accomodation was very comfortable, warm & well equipped for self catering. The views were great through the huge windows and we enjoyed the birdlife in the gardens. Design of the cabins was novel and interesting. Very friendly, no pressure hospitality from Mark & Roz and the gorgeous dog.

We had a great five nights at Boomerang in cool weather. It was our base from which we headed off daily on nearby walking tracks. The well designed accom was so comfortable, peaceful and warm, and the view from our windows so soothing, that it was hard to head off each day on the great walks. But wine by the fireside each night on our return was an extra reward for our walking efforts. Hosts were very kind to us. We got our car hopelessly stuck in deep mud some distance from Boomerang and Mark towed us out. We were very thankful for that. Their dog was great fun too!

Boomerang`s @ Johanna`s is the perfect position to be in after 2 days of wonderful driving and National Parks. To break the trip up and romance away with good local wines (suppplied) and great local Ale, the fire burning and lucky enough for us we were treated to a raging thunderstorm at sea.

Truly unique accommodation in a most beautiful location. Loved all the tasteful “Australiana” artwork, huge australian native gardens, and friendly aussie hosts.

Our favourite place in Australia – wonderful view, lots to do, but also beautiful garden in which to relax.
The cottages are homely and comfortable. The local people are great and there is a great chef at The Bend! We come again and again!

These premises are beautiful with superlative views of the Great Southern Ocean and Johanna Valley. It was a great place from which to explore a totally unique part of Victoria. The natives are friendly.

A really beautiful, quite cottage surrounded by amazingly beautiful gardens. No need to travel anywhere – just stay and relax and watch the country life go by. Looked after really well by Mark Roz and Hannah. Close to wonderful beaches, great ocean walks, good cefes, restuarants. Planning our next stay. Highly recommended.

Beautiful, clean cottages just near Johanna Beach. Quiet, peaceful, plenty of water for a spa so I didn’t feel guilty about using the water. Close to all the sites along the Great Ocean Road.
