Wattle Point offers so much for those who love the outdoors from chilling out in the spa to the more active pursuits of playing a game of tennis, rowing along the lake, and riding a bike. And, whilst you’re out and about expect to see an abundance of wildlife in close range. The living quarters are close enough to keep in contact with fellow dwellers yet distant enough for some quiet time and privacy. It is the perfect location to host an event such as a weekend wedding as attendees are able to get to know one another and celebrate in style with the function room that transports itself into a dance floor:) What more could you want?

We had an amazing time during our stay at Wattle Point. Loved the fireplace and everything was there that we needed, above what we expected.
We had a refreshing and relaxing time and didn’t want to return to the ‘real world.’ The wildlife is excellent and so peaceful away from the city life. I hope next time I can get my boat down there to experience the waterways at the doorstep. (Amazingly though, there was plenty to do even without the boat… Who would have thought!?! )
The staff were excellent making our stay that much more enjoyable. We highly recommend booking a visit to enjoy for yourself.

We stayed here a few days ago – and LOVED it!!! The kids were able to feed 10 kangaroos from the cabin’s back porch, which was the highlight of their holidays. The cabin was fantastic, the surrounds were lovely and it’s definitely a place to return to again and again.

We have stayed there four times in the last 3 years. We have tried 3 of the different cabins and all have their own unique features. Love the wildlife, walking tracks, indoor pool and spa. The hosts are extremely friendly and helpful. Great place for boating enthusiasts.

Staying at Wattle Point was everything we hoped for. Picturesque, quiet and the facilities were a treat for the kids. They loved the kayaks in the morning and a spa after dinner. We all loved the friendly kangaroos and a chance to spend time together, relaxing and having fun.

There is no place we’d rather be….we love the peace and tranquility…having breakfast with the kangaroos and hand feeding the parrots…the beautiful bush and the water right on your doorstep…paradise! It’s the perfect place to relax and unwind…it puts life in perspective as it gives us the time to just slow down and breathe in the fresh air and take everything in. The accommodation is fantastic. It feels like the cabin it ’s just ours for that short time we’re there….we wish it was ours to enjoy everday. We look forward to the next time we visit! : )

We have been spending our annual holidays at the Wattle Point Retreat for the past 15 years. We are a working couple who look forward to the peace, quiet and beauty of Wattle Point to recover from a busy working year. From the first stay we have not considered any other holiday option. From the first class accommodation to the pool, tennis court, bikes and wonderful walks plus the friendly, efficient and professional conduct from management – who would want to go anywhere else?

“Upon opening my car door and hearing only the sounds of the birds and the gentle sway of the bush, I can finally relax and relish in my peaceful and beautiful surroundings. As I’m unpacking the car, a kangaroo hops by; stops out of curiosity, taking a lazy scratch before continuing on his way. I already knew that this would be the first of many trips to Wattle Point.”

Wattle point is a tranquil haven, offering a unique combination of relaxation and outdoor activities. A perfect ‘getaway’ location and also a great place to take the oversees visitors for a taste of the true Australia without having to travel too far out of town.
Wattle Point caters to ‘everyone’ – even my teenage boys had a ball!!

I would highly recommend any one to stay at the wattle water front retreat the atmosphere was great the kids just loved it.The hospitality was the best that we have come across yet all our needs were able to be full field .The kids had every thing at hand that they required to make it such an enjoyable holiday,we still mention this place to our friends and family members and look forward to going back.,The quiet nature and being able to relax in such a great place and knowing that my children felt the same makes it such a remarkable holiday. That is a big well done to the people that run this retreat that made that possible.

Total rest and relaxation in this peaceful and tranquil unspoilt bush setting, an abundance of friendly wildlife on your door step, sunrises and sunsets, photo opportunities aplenty, exceedingly friendly and accommodating hosts, 5 star luxurious accommodation tucked away in your own private spot…and there’s the indoor heated pool and spa, tennis court, bikes, kayaks, nearby walks, short drive to Bairnsdale, Paynesville, Raymond Island and Lakes Entrance…..an absolute must do is sunset on the jetty with a glass of champagne…..shhh, don’t tell anyone about this place.

I love the tranquility of a few days at Wattle Point, relaxing with the friendly kangaroos, beautiful parrots and sometimes an echidna. The sunrises and sunsets are amazing as are the clear night skies with millions of bright stars. The mineral spa and the heated pool are wonderful as well. The accommodation is first class and always up to date. The lodges facing the lake allow me to relax on the sofa listening to gentle music whilst at the same time watching the happenings on the water through the large windows, including dolphins swimming by. Feeding the kangaroos is a treat and I always come home with many photos of them and the beautiful birds. I have also caught the odd fish off the jetty. For a time of quiiet relaxation, Wattle Point is the way to go.

Great access for boating with a well maintained yet quiet ramp 2 minutes away.
Plenty of mooring and places to go for the day.

    Free bikes and canoes
    Pool and spa
    Trees, birds, and kangaroos

Safe, peaceful and a good nights sleep assured!

    Sep 7th, 2009 at 2:27 pm

Watch the kangaroos from your bedroom window! Enjoy the birds, from the comfort of the easy chairs of the lounge, of your self contained apartment.

Relax in the indoor pool or fantastic mineral spa, or be more energetic and explore the walking tracks, use the bikes or the tennis court – and of course, the fabulous lakes.

Wattle Point provides the ideal facilities for a fantastic break, with beautifully equipped apartments, some with handicapped facilities, including faciliites for carers. All located in a wildlife haven, with really friendly staff who can provide information on what to do to ensure your stay is simply fantastic.

Conferences, weddings, elopements are easily accommodated in the conference center, with guests having their own apartments to enjoy any event making it a really pleasurable memory.

Wattle Point is a “must return” destination, and a pleasure to recommend for friends to enjoy – though there is a temptation to consider the value of keeping it a really special secret.

Wattle Point is a peaceful lodging nestled in native bushland right on the waterfront of the gippsland lakes. It doesn’t take long to wind down into the rhythym of country comfort the retreat offers. The lake sets the pace of the days activities, while the bush and native wildlife provide atmosphere around the cabins at evening. Above and beyond accommodation, Waterfront Retreat is highly recommended.

What a terrific spot. This place offers everything you need, from first class accommodation to wild life at the front door. The serenity of Wattle Point is second to none and even when the place is full, there are no crowds waiting for activities and there is always a quiet spot on the jetty or small beach to relax and share your favourite red. Mike and Marg have really thought of everything. Well done.

Wattle point provided a place of total relaxation when we needed it most. Spacious and well set out with a feeling of privacy and all facilities are excellent. The cabins are extremely well planned and fitted out, the wildlife is friendly and the jetty is a constantly changing place of beauty extending out into the lake. One of the best places we’ve ever found for total peace and tranquility, and the on site staff are just like family.

I wrote a comment, deleted it, wrote again, deleted again and on it went. It was hard to find the right words to describe what a wonderful place Wattle Point is. First impression `WOW!’. It is so homely, relaxing and comfortable. The hosts are so welcoming you almost feel like part of their family. I travel from Canberra to meet with the Bairnsdale girls for scrapbooking weekends and when Sunday comes around we don’t want to go home. It is a place where we laugh, cry, share secrets, support each other and still manage to complete lots of scrapbook pages and eat too much of the fabulous food. It is extra special to me because it is a central meeting place for my daughter in Victoria and me to just walk, talk and share stories away from family life as we wander along the trails and the only sound we hear are from the animals.

This has to be one of the best places to stay in or abound Paynesville and the hosts are 7 star with their local knowledge and the way that they have created Waterfront Retreat. The closeness to the water and the magic widlife is worth seing first hand. The variety of choices for things to do at this retreat is what makes it so special. Mike, Marg and Travis make you feel like you at home with family as they try to ensure that they leave you to your own devices, but if you need anything, they will always be able to assist from dawn to dusk and really at any time you need some special guidance. They would be one of the best
Tourism attractions in and around the Paynesville and Bairnsdale area, and we just loved every minute of our stay, and would highly recommend this retreat
to all Australians from all walks of life, as it caters for everyone’s needs, without exception.

“The beautiful and so private lodges, the wildlife, the microclimate, the serene lake, just sitting by the jetty and contemplating….” were comments from the family as we drove away each time we visited. Leaves nothing much else to be desired. Best place to retreat to when you need to get away from it all.

hosts showed that they enjoyed their guests and in addition we had a totally disabled companion and her mother and they had a townhouse that catered for their total disabled needs with good space in the rooms and particularly the bathroom

Marg, Mike & Travis are the perfect hosts, never seen unless asked for their local information expertise. The loft cabins are cosy, roomy, with the best views of Lake Victoria . The wildlife is at your door and may be hand fed. Close enough to Bairnsdale & Paynesville for shopping, but, far enough away to be in your own secluded Paradise.

When i go on my fishing holidays i always choose Wattle Point Waterfront Retreat. I get easy access to the gippsland lakes for my boat, great activites for the kids, the friendliest native animals i’ve ever met and more importantly peace and quiet. The accomodation is very comfortable and the staff couldnt be more helpful. This is my ideal place to relax and unwind with the family.

When i come over from Tasmania to fish in Victoria, i only choose Watlle Point Waterfront Retreat to stay at. It accomodates all my needs, especially easy access to the boat ramp. I’ve learnt a new appreciation for native animals whilst staying here, they are so friendly, along with the staff. Very relaxing and laidback.
